It just occurred to me that the FBI can probably sell the coins pre-sentencing if Ross consents to the sale but still reserves his right to a trial. Why would Ross consent? He might expect the case to remain unresolved for a long time and wants to cash out before it's too late. That way, cash is sitting for him if/when he is released, as opposed to worthless coins.

How nice of them! sounds like a lot of work Cheesy

Time to bookmark that address. Maybe set an alert. Unless they hand over the private keys, we can front run the FBI.

Or, the FBI could fool us by inciting the selloff of the century by moving the coins. Cheesy

wow. So what is the wallet's address? Front running the Phoebe sounds like a lot of fun:)

Note how they moved the coins to this address in 324 portions which is "FBI" as spelled on a phone pad. They got style. Cheesy

Are you a FBI fanboy? Why are you making so much of this?  Those coins, if they are sold, will be sold at auction. God, people are so dense sometimes.

The coins are not actually moving as stated in that article. It's just manipulation dust spam.

They aren't moving YET. Article says FBI is considering sell off within coming weeks.

If they are a currency then the BTC are seized cash assets which would not be exchange to another currency.
This is because if the trial finds him innocent then they would have to return the currency as the "account" was frozen at the time.

If they consider the BTC to be an "object" with value then again they cannot just sell them for USD since they would be considered evidence.

Afik assets/cash seized in more traditional cases have sat static for years due to ongoing cases.
So no I don't see anything being sold anytime soon and these BTC will sit in limbo until a vertict is reached.

It surprises me that no one see's the obvious. Large manipulators wait for negative PR and then take the opportunity to start the drop, knowing that people will attribute it to the news and panic.

Holding is not because you're sticking with your internet friends, its because by and large individual amateur investors are going to have a really hard time timing the market properly and not losing money. You will lose less if you just step away and stop thinking about it. It's either going to be worth millions or nothing at all. You joined up for this ride, so don't quit your day job.

And please, stop complaining.

This.

I don't think many people here realise what it means now these Wall St. sharks are circling and amongst us ... they'll be picking you off one at a time like the ripe fat whales you are.

I've been watching/trading the Gold market for 18 years and you guys have no fucking clue what's coming ... it's not going to be pretty.

From here on out, either you're in bitcoin for the long haul and the protection of assets it provides or you're gonna lose most everything .... especially if you think you can out trade these guys with their trading algorithms, bots, deep pockets and propaganda machine ... they'll out psyche you every time and then take your money when you are beat ...

You've been warned. Get real or get out now.

This is wonderful.

Does anybody really think the FBI can sell all of their coins at an auction? Yea right. And the big money probably won't be interested when it learns WHY the FBI has lost faith in bitcoins. They will be forced to sell on an exchange.

Anyone who wants to let TechCrunch know they don't appreciate their authors publishing articles with zero facts can do so here http://techcrunch.com/got-a-tip/. Just include a link to the article http://techcrunch.com/2014/01/07/the-silk-roads-libertas-is-free-to-the-annoyance-of-us-authorities/ with your comments - they do read them.

Gonna be some fun waves. If it's true that the FIB sells the coins it will generate a lot of interest. I predict price crash then bounce to very bull market.

Note: I am usually wrong.

This really depends on how they treat the BTC at the time.

If they consider them to be an object then they will auction them off.
They are no stranger to real estate and high value asset auctions.
This will probably be GOOD for bitcoin both with regard to big money entering the market and also publicity.

If they consider them to be cash then I'm honestly sure what they will do.
I do this this will also be good though and further assert that BTC is a currency.
