All numbers were collected by hand from the site http://bitcoinwisdom.com. Beware of possible errors.

For each exchange, the numbers include only the trade volume to/from the currencies listed in the rightmost column. Trade between BTC and other cryptocoins, such as LiteCoin, is NOT included.

Coinbase is said to use Bitstamp for currency conversion.

Dates on the header line are UTC. Specifically, "01/15" means "from 01/15 00:00:00 UTC to 01/15 23:59:59 UTC". (Beware that Bitcoinwisdom uses your local time, so the date may appear to be off by 1 day.  For example, if you are 2 hours west of Greenwich, it may show "01/14 22:00" when the UTC time is "01/15 00:00".)

(NOTE 1) On 2014-01-30, BTC-China had a burst of extremely fast, regular and atypical transactions, all with similar amounts (a few tens of BTC) and prices (~4836 CNY), adding up to about 41,050 BTC.  The burst started suddenly around 17:00 UTC and and stopped suddenly around 19:30 UTC. Presumably those transactions were made by a faulty robot trading against itself or some other robot, and did not represent actual exchange of money and bitcoins between distinct individuals. Therefore those anomalous transactions were subtracted from the BTC-China volume for Jan/30.

I thought of an interesting strategy that Gox can employ.
Provided they still have a lot of customer dollars that they refuse to pay, they can use them to buy BTC on other exchanges and sell at their own. That's a huge profit.
Or supplement this strategy with induced panic dumping like today. That's a lot cheaper than dumping their own or non-existent coins.

didn't see anyone else post it.. Gavin live at CFR

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgFUAhz7h2U

Thanks Mike.

What the hell was that? It felt like an Oprah interview. And the question at the end, who the hell was that guy and why did the moderator deem it necessary to remind him that he was speaking "on the record"?

He was either very nervous, or just a plant acting nervous, to get that great (seemingly rehearsed) response from Gavin to close the PR stunt.

And then the markets crash!

Some of you may have noticed that Thursday Feb/06 was a bit busier than the last few days.  Wink

Note that the total trade volume outside China surpassed that in China.  When was the last time that happened?

Note also that MtGOX was again the busiest of the non-Chinese exchanges.

When people can't see bitcoinwisdom, then most can't see how the new rise has weak support with weak volume. They can only see that the price is rising and they will buy in with less fear.. and then there can be more big dumps. Bitstamp is currently at 790, while there is decent buy support only at 772. But I bet the religious zealots are already buying in because it seems to be going to da m00n.
Like I told yesterday, this dance will last a long time, until all the "right whales" have sold their coins to the choo choo folks for the right price.

If can't see Bitcoin wisdom I am out!

Especially with all this other dodgy shit going on at the moment.

'bye Mat.

hrmm for gox I had points at 880-870-860.......next is 804.83

couldn't get there though  Huh

805 point was hit.
Next points I have is 787 , 770, 749 , 741, 715
749-741 could be bounce point
715 breaks, next is 632

(missed the 830 point call earlier, as I missed looking)

Edit:  upward rebound / stop points should be valid still also, if a reversal: 830, 860, 870, 880

still valid.....see if bounce point holds
