The issue with linux is lack of software in specific domains. It's great for developers, usable for graphics, just not there yet for music.
The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

ING working on digital assets custody technology

Dutch bank ING (INGA.AS) is working on developing technology to help clients safely store digital assets, according to people familiar with the matter.

The custody project, which is being run out of Amsterdam, is still in its early days and is one of the bank’s several initiatives around blockchain, the technology underlying cryptocurrencies, the sources said.

ING “sees increasing opportunities with regard to digital assets on both asset backed and native security tokens,” the bank said in a written statement to Reuters. ING is particularly focused on developing the technology behind digital assets to give its clients a compliant way to access the emerging sector, it added.

The project comes as established financial companies look into offering custody and other services for both cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, as well as other types of digital assets.

I use both Win10 and Linux. Gotta use what you have. No need to force the issue over which one is better for what tasks, they can both be used together (maybe not in the same machine, but yeah, get 2 computers I guess; dual booting is kinda painful and wastes time.)

Now I am 15 pages behind...
Time to catch up, as I already emptied my sMerits allowance I have more time...

Personally, I believe that it is a bit better to frontload on the spending of smerits for a variety of reasons, even though you will likely get used to finding ways to spread your smerit allocation through the whole month in order to keep the allocation completely refreshing in a way that you never really run out.

On the other hand, there can be some stresses with having the benefit of serving as an smerit source, which you have correctly inferred by your above statement, which is the spending of all of your smerits as you get them.

The having to spend the smerits and feeling an obligation to get out there and read a few posts is a kind of feeling of a curse part of the blessing of serving as a merit source.

Hey, you asked for it... hahahahahahaha, and right out of the ballpark, your smerit allocation is way more than mine was in the beginning and even seems to be more than my current allocation.... not that I really care too much because I feel kind of an overabundance, even with my initial allocation, I was feeling just fine with that, even though I would run out a lot more with my initial allocation, so sometimes that kind of screwed me up in keeping a list of so many great/good posts that I wanted to send an smerit once I got replenished.   So sometimes there was some stress in falling behind.

Since theymos has incrementally increased the allocations of active smerit spenders (as you mentioned in another one of your posts), I have kind of grown into my allocation situation, and I am glad that theymos has merely made incremental adjustments to mine rather than some kind of BIG ASS dumping of smerits on me, which sometimes I feel that I am giving out way more smerits than I can really justify, anyhow, which causes me to feel better with mostly just allocating the sending of 1 smerit per post that I feel moved me to send such smerit.

Oh, by the way, sometimes I feel that I am burdened to send out some smerits, and I am not seeing any good posts out there, but then on a regular basis, it all just seems to work out, and great posts come in and I run out of smerits, too.  So there is that.... the never ending great posts of the forum (and most of mine are in the WO thread - but not exclusively, of course) that deserve at least 1 smerit if not more....

Solution: switch to linux

its own kind of hell

I am also about to convert to linux.

I was fine with win7. I liked it. It was doing alright. It had everything I would want from an operating system.

Tried win10. Didn't like. One bit.

Tried linux before but never used it for a long time. It has its own fuck ups I believe but nothing is perfect and I still believe it is better than w10. Hopefully I am not making a mistake.

Win7 still works for me. Win8 and Win10 are both malware. Of course anything Apple absolutely sucks.

When Win7 becomes unusable, I'll probably switch to some flavor of Linux. It has the big advantage of being open source so any Prism shenanigans will be exposed.

How can you trust an OS that wants to "update" itself almost daily? Decentralized open source software is the way to go.

I haven't worked on a a Mac since the mid 90's but afaik Macs are now on a Linux kernel so there should be a workaround.

I'd rather beat him up, that feeling is quite nice too.

In the office? At the meeting?
Nice to dream about that, but in RL this never was an option.
I had bad luck with violence from the start, so i avoided it. In school, two guys were mobbing me, so i hit one guy with the back of my hand full-on and his nose started to bleed like mad. Then the teacher made sure i was kicked out of school. Lesson learned (but i never mobbed anyone, later on).

Don't take it too seriously, when I say "I'll cut you" or I"ll beat you" its a symbolic threat made to show my resentment of the person it's aimed at. I'm not actually going to look up JJG in the phone book and come to his house.

Actually Android is an open source mobile OS.  It's been forked before (Cyanogen, Lineage, /e/, Copperhead, etc) Some of which are privacy focused...

Guys, find a Linux variant you can trust and use as you learn it and run a Win 7 instance in a vm with GPU passthrough for games. Then you can step up to something like Qubes and the Win 7 VM is portable.

Nix runs on arm. Check this https://postmarketos.org/

Added: forgot to say only use the passthrough on a secondary gpu if your concerned about the security of the vm to the host.

Sense of guilt disclosure. I have to confess I do have to use Win10 for some things because reasons, but I'm very sensitive to this topic. A true FOSS OS for mobile is long overdue, but the real issue there is closed source drivers for hardware components. In general, the producers won't release OS drivers or disclose all the specs that would enable OS driver development, so you're left with a phone where the camera works but (insert glitch), WiFi works but (insert different glitch), and so on.

With all the biometrical shit that's going to fall upon our heads, a mobile OS that teams with the owner is going to become a necessity sooner than I'd like. In other parts of the world, it already is.

Kinda.
<wiseass mode on>
It's a BSD port, the kernel is "XNU" (hence the marketing name OS X), mainly based on BSD and some journaling file system i don't recall by name atm.
Apple came up with this as a solution for the switch from motorola to intel cpu's, to keep the older hardware supported (until OSX 10.4) as well as emulate a runtime environment for their (old) native binary format. Can't recall its name as well, similar to "union" or something like that. They offered an emulator for this until 10.7 or .8  but as an optional install. Look up "Mach" and "Darwin" for more info on the net.
The Unix part was degraded from release to release, which is basically only the shell (terminal running BASH) and IOS (not iOS) nowadays, while apple was following most every unix standard, which was quite comfortable if you came from a unix background (as me) and got your hands on MacOS X. The last version i used was 10.8 or .9 and i was already missing a lot of unix support in it. However, it was quote comfortable (and dangerous) to open a terminal window, type "sudo su -" and hit enter to gain root on OSX, until "sudo" functionality was replaced, i think also in 10.9.
<wiseass mode off>

I really liked OSX, the stability, ease of use and all, as well as the unix powerhorse below the hood. They incrementally fucked that up, but when you come from  DOS/Unix background, this was the perfect desktop OS.

It's not even 1% of the economic value.

As economic value they took coinmarketcap. Comparing coins coimarketcap with revenue of a market is totally pointless. It dont give you any useful data.
