18500 is looming. if we could close today above 18500 that would be awesome...  Grin

edit: that would be a green weekly candle indeed. a +3k Darth Maul candle just below old ath must have rect so many day- and swing traders.

Yes this is a pleasant surprise.  Surprises to the upside are always welcome.  If the weekly closes green, wow.

That was a short dip, way shorter than I expected in any case.

Considering to buy a car soon as an investment, to keep on the side for the next years. The way things are looking now, it might be possible that I'll be buying it completely with BTC profits.

I have been hodling for 3 years and never-ever cashed. The idea of being able to buy a car with crypto hodlings makes my head spin.

Mind you, we're talking about 1/25th of a Lambo's price, so don't expect jumbo jet prices, but hey, I think it's spectacular anyway.

For European residents, I can vouch for Kraken. Been with them since 2015. No issues. Deposits and withdrawals have gone through (although withdrawals were for very small amounts—don't know what will happen if I request to withdraw a lot).

There was a time (around 2016-2017 IIRC) when their servers were slower than a CASIO calculator, which actually protected me from selling some corn by failing to execute a string of sell orders. My current stash would have been much smaller, had those orders gone through—thanks Kraken!

For Europeans,
The tentacles of Kraken,
Work kind of OK.

I agree. I have also been a customer since 2015. I have made monthly withdrawals since late 2016. Never had a problem.

Thanks for the reply. My Kraken withdrawals have been minimal—only a few times for a few hundred € each time. Everything went smoothly, no questions asked.

If it's not too much trouble for you, what are the approximate amounts of your monthly Kraken withdrawals? Hundreds? Thousands? Did you have any issues with your bank (i.e., being asked "where do these monthly deposits come from?" and having to explain about your crypto, etc.)?

I don't think answering the above poses any OPSEC issues, but if uncomfortable, please ignore this post. Thanks!
The amounts I have withdrawn monthly is between €1000-2000. No big sums, but they have never failed me. I've had some problems though, but it has never been problems on the Kraken side (like when when Revolut/TransferWise blocked transfers from/to Kraken).

Just to add that I have been happy with Kraken too.
I made a few medium sized withdrawals of around 30,000 euros (used to pay off mortgage) no questions asked and no problems either.
Would deffo recommend.

I'm worried about my local banks more actually. As a transation of ~$10k USD/EUR raises a huge red flag for almost any bank. Get ready for the questions they're going to ask. Although I have heard that UK banks are somewhat more tolerant (or simply have higher red flag limits?).

Get a Maybach and it could be.

Minor question: For those using systems like Kraken, are you keeping your coin there, or just putting some pennies in every month for the auto withdrawls?

A concern is starting to grow in my mind: That exchanges will start considering bitcoins transferred from/to private wallets to be "suspect" by default.

Kind of like how email evolved: It used to be following standards, but these days Google mail will only trust mail from other large centralized mail systems (MS Mail, Yahoo, and Google) with everything else being treated as "spam" by default.

“That car will be a house in a few years.”  It is exactly what I would say to DOGE bitches and shitcoin maximalists.  Cool

Financial advice:  Short Bitcoin at high leverage.  That car will be a house!

This altcoin trader did not invest in the long-term security of a car.

When I squint hard, I think that the sign says something about altcoins.  At least, we can pretend that it does and someone with real Gimpy skills could make it so.

It's one thing to play by the rules and report to IRS which is required, but it's a different ball game to actively sell tracking software to governments, why are you funding this again?

Use gemini at least the Winterfloss twins are pro bitcoin

im still there simply because of how long ive used it (in 2013 there wasnt much to choose from that was legit in the eyes of the land of the free) and ive run life changing amounts through them with zero issues. only exchange i havent had issues with tbh and ive used a few.

them buying up that spy software company that got that guy killed still pisses me off of course. "they didnt know" yeah bullshit. "firing" some people certainly wasnt enough and we now know with absolute certainty what their true colors are.

i always expected coinbase to rat out everyone at some point so when i happened it didnt really matter much (to me). id been paying taxes on corn long before they pulled that 1099 crap.

anyway poor excuse i know but there it is. at some point i wouldnt at all be surprised to see gemini have a few skeletons fall out of their closet. hopefully they keep the high road.

i did make an account at gemini a few years ago but when they wanted a wire transfer to initially set it up.. i wasnt gonna drive 20 minutes to the bank when i already had a working exchange that i knew worked fine, warts and all.

eventually ill finish setting up gemini (need to contact support as the 2fa i have on record doesnt work any more). looking forward to more kyc and hoops to jump through. yay

as one may of noticed im lazy af

Excellent. Thanks for the valuable info. These are the monthly amounts I'm planning to withdraw in the near future too, so it's good to know that almost everything went smoothly for you. It's the banks I'm more worried about, not Kraken. There's always the ATM option too, albeit with a higher premium—a small price to pay for complete anonymity (until they start forcing us to KYC there too).

The funny (sad, actually) thing is that most of us have not done anything wrong, we're not criminals, and yet we are often treated as such, until proven otherwise...

Edit:

@machasm: thanks for your reply, too.
@psycodad: and yours, too.

(OFFTOPIC to wall observing)

I never had problems with Kraken.. small sums.. less than 1000eur.. (LTC to kraken, then euros to N26 thru SEPA)

I also used  BTC to charge Epayments debit card, and then top up the Revolut card. (always less than 1000 eur), and it worked ok, no questions asked.  But now Epayments is gone. Never tried SEPA from Kraken to Revolut.

Last week i asked N26 customer service about limitations on transfers.. they said 100,000 eur is the limit (whaaa?!?!) but they dont know if i may or may not be asked to provide origin of funds.

I was always afraid to ask about fiat exit ramps in this thread.
Maybe there's another place where we can chat about this, or in PM.
I asked Elwar about his 'current location' regulation on banking, but maybe my personal message was.. too personal, hence ignored.

Thanks for your replys.

If math could confirm,
all time high in November,
there is still a chance.

#haiku

Seems too tight to me.  What do we have?   A wee bit less than 34 hours, and the BTC price has been pushing a bit UPwardly.. in the past couple of days with the latest push from $17,8xx to $18,1xx or $18,2xx...   Even given $18,2xx that is still a need for close to 7.5% more price appreciation within those next 34 hours...

Criticaltm?.... moonshot?  or some other descriptor?

I’ve already written somewhere that it rarely or not at all happens that small people have an advantage over big predators in something - and now some even have a 10-year advantage in their favor. I agree with PS to some extent, and I'm sure that his son is also glad that his dad softened his attitude towards BTC a bit Cheesy

Not really. He's only 18. He does not have much money to blow on #Bitcoin
, which is actually a very good thing. My concern is for older people who will lose a lot more, and who don't have enough years left to make back what the loss.
