does anybody know on which U.S. marketplaces a HF is allowed to trade with:

a) physical BTC (spot)
b) Futures on BTC (derivatives)
c) Options on BTC (derivatives)

found on the first look LedgerX.
Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Wrapped Bitcoin only see 5.8 Bill
Bitcoin transferred to the Ethereum Blockchain https://defipulse.com/btc

What is Bitcoin at Work?
Bitcoin at Work measures the total amount of BTC being utilized within decentralized finance (DeFi). DeFi Pulse monitors each BTC token on the Ethereum blockchain. Every hour, we refresh our charts by pulling the total balance held by these smart contracts.

How do we define each type of BTC?
Decentralized - a BTC token backed by BTC held within a fully decentralized protocol
Custodial - a BTC token backed by BTC held in custody by a third party
Synthetic - a token which follows the price of Bitcoin but is not directly backed by BTC
Hybrid - a BTC token backed by BTC held within an open protocol transitioning towards decentralization

Looks like Robinhood just went full retard.

I bet they will be scrambling for fresh capital all weekend, and bank transfers take 3-4 business days, so....

It's probably all the wrapped and tokenized BTC on ETH and other chains. There's Wrapped BTC, renBTC, HBTC... They are all supposedly back 100% BTC, and this can be easily checked by comparing what the smart contract does or the addresses held in cold storage for them.

WBTC marketcap is about 4~6 billion, so the others must be about 46~44 billion worth.

I have 100 million BTC tokens for sale, each token backed completely by a number of BTC.

I will sell at a discount of only $34k each.

Currently the wrapped BTC is 1:1 backed by BTC locked in. There's about maybe 100k to 200k of them tokenized, and can't be more than 18.6 million. The problem will arise when they turn "fractional".

Time to share some WOsMerit! Keeping the last ordinary, boring merits for nonlegendaries.

I can imagine a new hollywood movie coming out later this year. The plot would be: "How a bunch of nerd gamers almost crashed the world economy. Thanks to a misteryous call, the infamous robinhood platform prevented the massive short squeeze and saved the Wall Street brokers from bancruptcy. This will be a lesson for all shorters for the times to come.."

The movie should be called "The Big Long".

Would make a nice bookend to that other movie, lol.

+1 WOsMerit

The SEC is going to look into what has just happened:

Statement of Acting Chair Lee and Commissioners Peirce, Roisman, and Crenshaw Regarding Recent Market Volatility

Quote

The Commission is closely monitoring and evaluating the extreme price volatility of certain stocks’ trading prices over the past several days. Our core market infrastructure has proven resilient under the weight of this week’s extraordinary trading volumes. Nevertheless, extreme stock price volatility has the potential to expose investors to rapid and severe losses and undermine market confidence.

As always, the Commission will work to protect investors, to maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and to facilitate capital formation. The Commission is working closely with our regulatory partners, both across the government and at FINRA and other self-regulatory organizations, including the stock exchanges, to ensure that regulated entities uphold their obligations to protect investors and to identify and pursue potential wrongdoing. The Commission will closely review actions taken by regulated entities that may disadvantage investors or otherwise unduly inhibit their ability to trade certain securities.

In addition, we will act to protect retail investors when the facts demonstrate abusive or manipulative trading activity that is prohibited by the federal securities laws. Market participants should be careful to avoid such activity. Likewise, issuers must ensure compliance with the federal securities laws for any contemplated offers or sales of their own securities.

The Commission will continue our work on behalf of investors and the markets. In this regard, we hope to facilitate a robust public dialogue among market participants and investors on the structure and operation of our securities markets. Members of the public can submit tips or complaints through the Commission’s website using this online form. Members of the public with questions should contact the Commission’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy at 1-800-732-0330, ask a question using this online form, or email us at Help@SEC.gov.

‘They’re the Wall Observers, they’ve been in BTC for years’

We're poor now.

Guys, guise, guys!   One of the girls in this pic had barely turned 15 when this movie was released which means she was likely 14 when these promo pictures were taken.  Put your bitcoin back in your pocket and keep your stick on the ice!

Which movie? I thought the meme was from a random photo.

Hey guys let's buy and hodl GME til the day we die! We can do it, let's make the billionaires lose for once (unless they join us ofc) Smiley

The billionaires changed their positions in coordination with RH tanking the buys so they are now riding the wave and will be the first to bail.

Isn't there a reliable source for short interest/amount of short positions?

The day before yesterday there was a link on twitter showing a supposedly reputable source alleging short positions totaling 140% of GME market cap. Yesterday the jerk at Citadel said he covered and exited his fund's humungous short - but the outstanding shorts were still 136%, so people called BS. From what everyone was saying, it looked like the source of those figures was to be believed. Myself, I don't know - that's why I asked here.
