Hey guys let's buy and hodl GME til the day we die! We can do it, let's make the billionaires lose for once (unless they join us ofc) Smiley

The billionaires changed their positions in coordination with RH tanking the buys so they are now riding the wave and will be the first to bail.

The dip was extremely low volume with other trading platforms phasing in and out of existence as well (at least the German stock exchanges and OTC brokers I could monitor from my measly retail broker account). There's no way the shorts got even remotely covered during this timeframe.

Remember, there was a short float of 138% when this whole thing started. And while it seems a small percentage of shorts have started covering, they are still haemorrhaging short interest like crazy:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-gamestop-stocks-shortinterest-idUSKBN29Y29P
https://isthesqueezesquoze.com/

Retailers are not giving them an inch and it seems to be only a matter of time before shorters bleed out and get margin called (depending on what dirty tricks they try to play next).

Isn't there a reliable source for short interest/amount of short positions?

I don't know what the per-requisets are for reporting.

There's a couple analysts as linked above. There are official numbers reported every 2 weeks or so (forgot the direct link actually, but Yahoo! Finance seems to refer to these reports for example: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/GME/key-statistics/).

However since these numbers depend on what the affected institutions self report there's quite a chance that they will report false numbers, as the penalty fees are not even close to what they stand to lose should the short squeeze actually happen.

We're poor now.

Guys, guise, guys!   One of the girls in this pic had barely turned 15 when this movie was released which means she was likely 14 when these promo pictures were taken.  Put your bitcoin back in your pocket and keep your stick on the ice!

They are "Mean Girls", pizza-gate would have them anyway they would please or not! Cheesy Cheesy

Naahh different movie: Aquamarine.
Don't ask me why I know that, please.

The day before yesterday there was a link on twitter showing a supposedly reputable source alleging short positions totaling 140% of GME market cap. Yesterday the jerk at Citadel said he covered and exited his fund's humungous short - but the outstanding shorts were still 136%, so people called BS. From what everyone was saying, it looked like the source of those figures was to be believed. Myself, I don't know - that's why I asked here.

Do you mean this link?

https://www.highshortinterest.com/all/

I have no idea what the source of the data is or how accurate it is/isn't.

A question. What is meant, when they say, that 50 billion in btc are in defi....

I am a pure btc guy, so I don't know this actually means...

Wrapped Bitcoin only see 5.8 Bill
Bitcoin transferred to the Ethereum Blockchain https://defipulse.com/btc

What is Bitcoin at Work?
Bitcoin at Work measures the total amount of BTC being utilized within decentralized finance (DeFi). DeFi Pulse monitors each BTC token on the Ethereum blockchain. Every hour, we refresh our charts by pulling the total balance held by these smart contracts.

How do we define each type of BTC?
Decentralized - a BTC token backed by BTC held within a fully decentralized protocol
Custodial - a BTC token backed by BTC held in custody by a third party
Synthetic - a token which follows the price of Bitcoin but is not directly backed by BTC
Hybrid - a BTC token backed by BTC held within an open protocol transitioning towards decentralization

Thanks

It's probably all the wrapped and tokenized BTC on ETH and other chains. There's Wrapped BTC, renBTC, HBTC... They are all supposedly back 100% BTC, and this can be easily checked by comparing what the smart contract does or the addresses held in cold storage for them.

WBTC marketcap is about 4~6 billion, so the others must be about 46~44 billion worth.

Thanks

To be honest, I'm really only in it for the tendies.  Heard there were free tendies at the end of this whole thing.

I just looked at the charts for that thing. Mathematically on some trading, it is sound. I guess if I would invest in it, I would do just when there is like some sort of 'emotional pump' that people buy into the hype and they might involve some time & money for the 'seasonality' of it. Smiley

My main issue with DOGE right now is that the code is outdated, there are no active developers around and it's easy to pump - like we are seeing right now. The problem with this is the "what if" - what if someone takes this old and outdated code and breaks it, being able to print out a trillion DOGE and dump it all on market before anyone realizes? Scary shit. Stay safe and good luck!

Probably that would trigger an "event", that will make all exchanges to... or at least the more 'serious' ones, to actually put new accounts or huge amounts on a 'standby' or being benched for some time.  Roll Eyes

Whoever would do something like this would probably not just make a single or a handful of trades.. And without active developers - who's out there to warn the public? Especially when we're in a time where if you google "Dogecoin" you'll get reddit posts/facebook posts/twitter threads screaming "BUY DOGE, THIS BITCH GOING TO $1".. It's a dangerous time is all, just don't want to see people put in too much and lose out (and yes, even if you buy in "just for the memes bro", you keep pushing the narrative and might get people who are not as informed to invest more than they can afford to lose).

Surely we'd rather want people in bitcoin than some shitcoins where they might lose their ass which in turn leaves a sour taste of ALL crypto.
