Exactly this.  Blockchains applications which are not currencies are worthless because any extraneous data added to the blockchain can be fake.  Only currencies do not require anything to be added.

Basically, you posited that "any extraneous data added to the blockchain can be fake". Yes, people realized this quite a while ago and their solution is decentralized oracles where oracle is the node that transmits data into the blockchain. If multiple independent oracles provide the same data/value, then most likely then not I is prone to be correct. How this happens mathematically (how the data is aggregated by the network of oracles), I don't know. However, they posit that if individual oracles are hacked, deleted or depreciated, oracle network would still be intact, similarly to how bitcoin nodes all independently confirm the block and if you lose electricity to your node, the network would not be affected.

It always made me wonder why, when approaching a price and it's clear we are going to go over it why it doesn't just happen and why we have to have these pull-backs. I guess there's some manipulation psychology going on there.

The wall at $50k is about 500 BTC. There are a lot of sell orders going up to $50k as well.

Real ones, not fake walls to move things one way or another.





Edit: Just thinking back to the days of $2/BTC and how a 500 BTC wall would be a blip.

I think I can honestly say I lived my life in such a way that I did all I could to stack sats from those days (aside from selling all of my BTC at $12).

I treated bitcoin like it was worth $1k even when it was much less.

Yep. It's a way to manipulate the market. If I have a bunch of Bitcoin and I want to buy at 50, I put up a sell wall at 50.1 and everyone who wants to sell has to sell below that. It doesn't always work though and it's funny to see a sell wall get eaten into because sentiment changed and it didn't get taken down soon enough.

It's like pump & dump. Get in early, wait for the price to rise, get out early and leave others holding the bags. Lucrative if you are skilled at it probably but risky and I'm not that comfortable with the ethics of it.
