"AMC says it will accept bitcoin as payment for movie tickets by year-end" @ https://twitter.com/CNBC/status/1424862257352163335

Two observations (not really meant as comment)
  • Theaters are in dire straits right now and it's looking like the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train.
  • AMC is owned by the Chinese if I recall correctly.

correct on both.

who goes to cinemas anymore.
everything is done streaming to your media box you can watch it when and where you want. even to your mobile.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

BTW: Lately I've had this urge to ditch my smartphone completely, who wears an "ankle tracker" willingly when all you get on it is propaganda and useless notifications in return? Wink

my original reason for having the phone 24/7 was for calls from my wife. period. of course then smart phones come along and now theyre full out computers so its too easy to whip it out at any downtime to "catch up" on the news/social media/whatever ... as if you could ever keep up with all the garbage on the net anyway.

my solution:

i bring my Nook with me everywhere now. couple thousand books at my fingertips and no reason to go to the net for "info" or entertainment.

https://www.gutenberg.org/

start there if youre new to e-readers, everything there is free and can be read on a Nook. or any computer for that matter.

and stay away from kindles... amazon trash

I've been looking at https://copperhead.co/#hardware (CopperheadOS; hardened Linux fork) and https://www.pine64.org/pinephone/ (Linux) as a replacement, but will probably just go back to something pure GSM style like Nokia 1200.

The problem with modern phone designs are that even if you trust the open source OS running on it, the hardware chipsets from various vendors can be compromised or have security flaws. Old GSM phones can be tracked as well, but you need local access to nearby cell towers to triangulate position, which rules out most threats besides domestic police.

I am not sure why the market is rising, but we investors are all optimistic about the future trend of prices. At the current price, many people think that this price is underestimated, so this price fluctuation may just be a callback to the true value of the cryptocurrency. Whatever the reason, this field is worth celebrating.

In the end, if you were not happy before you were rich, it's unlikely you will be happy when you are (rich).
My two cents.

But what if you are unhappy because you aren't rich?

Short answer: Then you don't know better.

Long answer: Following in the evening.

Good day!

66% chance we will lose 10% tomorrow or Wed, 33% chance we would gain the same.
Some f-ers would undoubtedly short into the vote.
I am hoping that we would bounce off of 42K (if it happens).
Where did you get those exact percentages from?

I love my kindle.  its what, 5 years old, battery last forever, has wifi.  I use it with Calibre, download and read the Economist for free on it every week or any book/magazine/news you find online for that matter.  I never paid for a single ebook yet and dont plan to.  Thats how I live my whole life.  Renting/subscription models can suck my satoshi

I am sick of the subscription models that are now plaguing our world. As a graphics designer you need Adobe products and you could just buy them many years ago for a one time fee but now you have to pay a very expensive subscription per month or year to be able to use their latest versions and the annoying thing is they have removed their download links for their old software which forces old customers who bought the one time payment product to convert if they lose that installer.
