Came out of lurking to state that I have taken some profit to buy me some new (second hand) wheels, a 2017 Tesla model S 100D (with the upgraded audio package amongst other things). Will be going to Nice (F) next tuesday with the misses in it.

congratulations to your new car, looks nice.

His crashed Duccati that he bought when BTC was $700 per each.. looked pretty damned nice too... and gosh, you might wonder why some peeps never make it even close to fuck you status.

But they have a lot of funzies along the way...  and might be crying a lot when they are in their 50s that they do not have much of anything and they are also not feeling like working so much, either.. .... but do they have a choice at that point?

To each their own, no?

Looks like r/Bitcoin is preparing themselves for a pump to show their support for the El Salvadorian people:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/phgtq2/so_we_all_buying_30_worth_of_bitcoin_on_tuesday/

Good point.. I have been seeing this.. and it really seems like a good idea...

I was considering buying on any of my accounts that I have any dollars or that are somehow connected to a bank.. and there was one account that I don't hold any dollars or a bank connection, and maybe I could sell (something like $30 worth.. maybe if I were to find a shitcoin that I could sell $30 there.. then that would be better, no?) and buy back on Tuesday... just for the funzies and the synchronization aspects which might be "the right thing to do".. but may well end up NOT being an actual profitable endeavor because seems like a great opportunity for desperate bearwhales to play around too.. because they are so disgruntled with green candles up their asses anyhow... and they may well want to have their own short-term joys  but does not mean that 4Q of 2021 or 1Q or 2Q of 2022 are going to be good for them necessarily.. depending upon when this bad boy peakenings.

Just checked on the fees that I would need to pay to convert one of my shitcoins into USDT via DeFi and it comes to about $600. For $5000 worth of coins.

We are certainly not at the future of DeFi yet.

The RGB solution coming down the pike would be over the Lightning Network and cost almost nothing using client side validation. That is the future of DeFi.

You just gave me an idea. We could start a "Bitcoin School" where we could teach newbies about bitcoin, mining, blockchain and so on. A lot of people aren't getting far with DYOR (in fact it steers them towards shitcoins and scams where they lose their interest for crypto all together). People need mentors. This would also promote Bitcoin adoption.

What do you guys think? Would anyone be willing to start something like that with me?

edit: Are you in Miami?

I could probably work with you good ole buddy.  We could probably figure something out, no?

Buddies sound good.. we might need an ICO or some NFTs... of course bitcoin-friendly ones.  #nohomo

Awesome,  the Crypto Bitcoin Professors group is growing Smiley

Well I do have experience as an ICO Advisor and Marketing advisor. Maybe I can help with that. But we need to show people a working concept first. Nobody wants to invest in ideas. Also, I do not want to turn this into a cash grab thing. A DAO with community voting would be best.

From the time Music was Music and called the Real shit

"Real Shit"? I think it's safe to say you are very young, I have a pretty good idea about many, many varied types of music. I have been playing "Real Instruments" longer than you have been alive. And they pay me to do so.

moog? extra credit if you built it yourself.

or a cigar box guitar maybe, same bonus applies

either way beats me, i "play" bass, uke, and harp. if you can call it "playing".. cats hide when i go near my instruments. come to think of it so does my wife. but with her playing her violin and flute, they come sit and listen. me? they hide for days

OK.  I do not usually tell this story publicaly...  but whatevs...  Also bad opsec... also whatevs...

Back in the 80s I went to college in the mountains of NC as a Music/Audio engineering double major.

I met an adjunct professor in the cafeteria completely randomly.  He was not currently teaching, but he had a love for electronic music and prog rock which I also liked.  His name was Bob.  We become fast friends, and would meet for lunch often over the next several weeks.  He liked to talk about what I wanted to do with music, and he also told me lots about some of the crazy projects he was doing.  At the time he was working out the idea for a Theramin ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theremin ).  He was wanting to build one that sent MIDI.  I told him I thought this was super cool, and that I would want one myself, but that I thought it would be a niche instrument at best.

I will never forget the look on his face at this one moment in our friendship there at the lunch table one day.  A knowing smile came over him as well as an obvious look of disappointment.  Because he had just seen my jaw hang open and my eyes get as wide as saucers when I realized who he was.

"You just figured out my last name didn't you Xxxxx (My first name)?", Bob asked me.

"I think so", I replied.

"Well, you're right... but hopefully we can continue this friendship the same even now that you know... and I want you to continue to be as honest as you were before about my ideas!  I was quite enjoying getting to know you without you knowing my last name.  It makes relationships hard with like minded folks".

We did remain friends, but I think it was hard for it not to affect me that I was hanging out with Robert Moog, the inventor of the first synthesizer you could buy, and such a tremendous influence on electronic music.

I never kept up with Bob well after I left school which is typical of me, and I was DEVASTATED when I learned he had brain cancer some 20ish years later.  What an irony that someone with such an amazing mind died because if a disease in it.  He did go on to invent the Moog Etherwave which was, as I had predicted, a bit of a niche product.

That is my own Minimoog (with my new Blockstream Jade sitting atop it!).  I bought it from a guy for $100.  He did not know what he was selling.  I sort of felt guilty.  I will never sell it though even though it's worth quite a bit more than $100.  It needs an overhaul, and I am about to get the capaciters needed to get it back to tip top shape.  You guys have all heard this thing... it's all over pop music from the 70s to today.  Particularly used for big ass bass sounds.

Here's to Bob...

Another failure to sustainably penetrate $50k while alts are getting most of the attention. This is the predictable outcome of a failed cryptocurrency. Expect to see mostly lower prices for the rest of the year (and ever).
When I saw his post, I immediately knew that we would cross $50k to near-$51k levels today. Maybe even beyond that.

We didn't even kiss 51k, but got in the upper half of 50k.

Hm eddie?   I am wondering which charts you be looking at?

Around 28 hours ago (would that be 14:30 UTC yesterday), BTC prices got up to $51,050 on bitstamp.

You might need either a batman slap or some glasses.  #nohomo

Good call, both proudhon and AlcoHoDL!

+1 WOsMerit to AlcoHoDL

Llamas don't need WOsMerits ATM, do they?  Tongue

Those are some controversial mixenings that you are making....   Maybe AlcoHoDL and Llama Llama are dee same peep?

I'd be very wary about handing coins over to BlockFi, it may easily turn out to be the regulated version of what bitcoiners know as "the exit scam".

effectively you'd be selling the bitcoin at a discount given by the collateralisation rate .... and paying interest on the privilege until the the time they go bust and say "coinz went somewhere"

they had a high profile ex-regulator on the board to suck in some credibility and more coins ... he just left

they did the same thing with Corzine and MF Global when they needed physical gold to keep the dollar ponzi alive a bit longer in 2008 ... set-up an options and futures racket to suck in the desired physical product then go bust and pay out cents on the dollars in dirty printed fiat .... burns all the little guys and keeps them away from the casinos big tables where the banks play

it's all a shell game where you got to keep your eye on the pea .... CME got the gold to cover all the big boys shorts positions and all the little guys who were long gold in the futures market that was blowing it up had money confiscated, criminally so, directly from their accounts .... Corzine walked with a slap on wrist $5 mill fine, JPMorgan got the little guys siphoned fiat the day before it went bust ... CME got the gold and the fiat ponzi game goes on, only big, connected shorts that keep the fiat show alive get to truly use leverage .... all is well with the world, if you're okay with criminals in high places

Just what I needed to read. It fleshes out my gut feeling with a few factual details I hadn't heard about (or didn't remember). Thank you @marcus_of_augustus.

+1 WOsMerit

Fuck putting your coins with shady-ass third parties, even if they are trying to act like they are legit and helping you out and blah blah blah.. .. and if you think that you need 1.5x collateral to sustain whatever agreement you thought that you had about your coins (or their liquidation terms), and you are sitting all lovey dovey and smug because you feel that you are putting your BTC to good use.. blah blah blah, and pretty soon you realize (oh shit!!!!)  that you needed 3x collateral and all your coins are gone because of "reasons"...   Not just a little gone.. but a lot gone..

Did I say fuck that nonsense?

Did uie-pooie (not referring to you specifically d_eddie) happen to know that Bitcoin is designed to pump forever, so there are hardly any reasons to get greedy.  And if you cannot do whatever projects that you want or buy your house by selling a few of your lillie fiends, then probably you are too fucking poor.. and maybe you better wait another cycle.. or some variation of that.

Stop trying to act like you are at fuck you status when you haven't reached it yet (not referring to you specifically d_eddie).

YUCK!  Where was that?  I have used Sideswap, and i do not *think* their fees are quite that bad, but maybe so.

*edit* Oh, I see... "DeFi".  Maybe I am missing the point, but nothing seems more middle of the bellcurve than "DeFi". I always get an image in my mind of Laura Shin talking about it like it's changing the world.  But I admit my thoughts are based in ignorance.  I've not done much with it, other than try to set up a Monero swap.

Great!!!!!!

I have to credit you for staying focused, when you likely realize that I was attempting to get some digs in at you and to provoke you into emotionalisms.

In any event, it probably does not hurt to have various people working on education campaigns related to bitcoin - and surely, I would suggest that anyone would glean through whatever issues had come up in that previous referred to theymos thread, rather than suggesting that theymos get involved.. one way to potentially figure out the extent that he may well be interested is to read through the various responses in that thread and also to see if he might have had any follow-ups in other threads.... or perhaps if you would be taking some ideas from that thread and perhaps custom-tailoring another thread in which you might more specifically focus on your ideas and be soliciting the help of a variety of others.  Probably getting too much in the weeds in this thread would not be such a good thing to do, even though it does seem that you have a lot of good ideas and you may well even have preferences for regular WO participants that you would trust more, but there are some bitcoin focused other folks in the forum too.. though any of us might question how the fuck they could be bitcoin focused without actually participating in this here actual thread... but even some regular members in this thread will sometimes get distracted by some of the seemingly shiny object elements of shitcoins or even speculating that stable coins are the same as the dollar or some other seeming bullshit like that.

On a personal level, I am having some of my own thoughts of some bitcoin trusts that I might want to set up and whether any of that money might go into bitcoin education (rather than funding developers or somethings like that) is still to be figured out by me and any consulting that I might end up doing in that direction, and sometimes my own juggling around of various personal things (and my own projects or interests or just dealing with real world relations and logistics) that I am trying to do can also get in the way of actually get into the creation and/or maintenance of some other project(s) in which I am actually actively doing things to attempt to accomplish objectives.

1hr TF

4hr TF

It would seem that there's much room up there than down for Bitcoin to find a place, both on the 1hr and 4hr TFs. I don't even see any resistance up as it were right now.
Bitcoin spikes above $50k today. It actually got to $50,476 before retracing to $50,100+. That was the kind of scenario I perceived when I made the quoted post on August 29th. It's playing out now. There are some who project it could get way into $60k once it breaks into the $50k range. Only time will tell how that will work out in days to come. I'm still bullish on Bitcoin.

It is quite easy to convert your wealth into crap you do not need or even want but that you just have to have, but the reverse is way more difficult.

I remember that even before 2007 I still wondered how people with relatively the same level of income as the one I had could afford all the stuff they were buying, at the time I was still naive and I simply thought maybe they knew something I did not, but then the 2007 economic crisis came and I realized I was doing fine but those people were in serious trouble and the majority began to sell their crap for low prices, but even then it would not sell as many others were in the same boat, that is when I learned the truth, they did not knew anything I did not and simply were spending way beyond their means.
