reminder for everyone. New weekly candle is starting with a pump. This is it. Buy or cry.

I'm broke.
A brake of my car got defective, also the lawnmower, gotta pay therapy bills (fully refunded, but later in october).
I will still continue with lump-sum spending next month, though.

This is strange OOM... You are at least a 2-3 year bitcoiner, no?

4y almost exactly.

Quote
You should have gotten your cashflow shit together by now, no?

Yes, but there are some unexpected costs this month. Once they are covered (and recovered) i can buy corn again.

Quote
I am not necessarily blaming you for both potential cashflow management issues and perhaps some feelings of necessity to draw more from your BTC holdings than what might be in your preferences, due to ongoing expenses.. anticipated and perhaps some expenses that are not so much anticipated.  But you know, even if expenses are not anticipated, ideally, there should always be some anticipated of the unanticipated.. and that is why many of the more insightful of long term investors strive to keep some balance in their monies which includes abilities to draw from a variety of funds, including NOT being so overinvested in any assets that the withdrawal would be at a time that is anything other than a  time of their own choosing....

There's that too, i just don't want to draw money from my BTC holdings. I just would need to buy back later at a higher price.
It's OK for me to just park money in BTC, for mid-term later use, but i already did that with the house extension and maxed out the amount.
So my BTC stash reached #hodl figures again and i will only add to it. Remember the original long term goal: 1 BTC per family member.
This month i can't add anything to it, maybe next month, depending on how things go, but the month after the next, i can add a wee portion of mBTC most certainly.

I guess now you can call me a BTC maxi  Grin

here is a nice little visual listing of which stores will accept Bitcoin in el salvador starting tomorrow

https://twitter.com/BitcoinMemeHub/status/1434782162742505477?s=19

That looks like a pretty small number of BIG companies that are going to be forced into having to accept bitcoin (or to leave El Salvador, which currently seems to be the alternative for any BIG company operating in El Salvador).

Just looking at the names, I was thinking that, for example, they must have more auto manufacturers located in El Salvador rather than merely VW operating there, no?

Pay for parking with Bitcoin and some alts in Belgium: https://www.nu.nl/economie/6155467/belgische-start-up-laat-gebruikers-met-bitcoins-voor-parkeren-betalen.html

Saw my nick came up. In reply, I am far from fuck you-status. But I do try to enjoy life while I can. It's a trade-off - yes I could be life-changing-fuck-you rich at one point if I just save all my BTC. If I had saved all my BTC (max 98.5) and ETH (1200) and Dash (1100) I had at one point, I would already be a multimillionaire right now. But on the other hand, I live now and I want to enjoy life as much as possible right now. Right now I only have a couple of BTC left, no ETH, no Dash.

That's too bad about both your ongoing inability/unwillingness to save some bitcoins, and your seeming inabilities to control your desires for immediate gratification.. but hey, each of us make our own decisions regarding how to balance current versus future gratifications based on what balances that we maintain (and our abilities to invest).

Everyone needs to make those decisions for themselves, it depends on what you want but also on your circumstances.

Not arguing with you about that.

In my case, I have been very lucky in my life. I live in an appartment that I thouroughly love, I will never move out of here even if it is only 65 m2. I don't want more. I have a nice job, all I want is to work a little less, but I do not want to not work at all. Now that I also have the car I've always wanted, I really do have all the material stuff I could ever whish. I also have enough reserves to handle bad times if they should happen.

One more thing I bought recently was 140 hours of extra free time from my "thirteenth month" of salary. I'm sure that sounds weird to Americans but here in The Netherlands in my line of work that is possible.

Next year I will change my contract from 38 hours to 32 hours, work 4 days and have a 3 day weekend. I will make a little less, but I've worked on getting my running costs as low as possible - I pay little mortgage, I pay close to zero for my energy needs, and now with the Tesla the running costs for my vehicle have come done considerably.

So, in my circumstances, I already feel rich! So thank you Bitcoin!!!!

No problem with any of that, either.  Peeps make trade offs in terms of present versus future, and so hard to really suggest that you are making the wrong choices for yourself in terms of either your finances or your psychology.. that's for you to judge.

Edit: JJG FYI Ducati is with one t. And yes it was destroyed but payed for in full by the person who drove through a red light to hit me. I now have a 959 instead of the 899 I had then.

Yes, I recall some of those details, including your posting about the new one that you got.

Of course, as I have already posted a couple of times, I am not quibbling with your desires to determine your own financial, psychological and even utilitarian needs, but I am quibbling with your posting in this public thread as if there is some kind of justification for your various seemingly luxurious consumption of various depreciating assets, and frequently at times that are not even close to being the top of a cycle or to even demonstrate that you are engaging in any kind of practice that would be recommended for anyone except ur lil selfie and perhaps a few other weak-handed folks who tend to value their wealth in depreciating consumption items and with little or no ability to either defer gratification or to sufficiently understand the power of king daddy, including it's likely value appreciating power, as compared with your choices in consumption items that likely could easily be deferred and allow you to consume magnitudes more in the event that you had some abilities to defer some of your consumption inclinations.

but whatever, you do you... If you want to have fun staying poor, that's your choice... and sure, some of this assessment of wealth (and appreciation of bitcoin) is relatively thinking and even with a couple of BTC you are way better off than so many nocoiners who have hardly any clue about bitcoin, or are hesitant to take any kind of BTC stance or to begin some kind of BTC accumulation and maintenance plan.. so surely you remain light years ahead of many of those nocoiners to the extent that they might be a reasonable comparison of where you are at and where you might be going.

Oh noes! We crashed down to 51.5k. Better call Proudhon....

Have been seeing this trend on twitter and reddit people are making plans to buy $30 worth of Bitcoin on 7 Sep 2021 ,to mark El Salvador’s Bitcoin adoption law coming into effect.

What our people of WOs think? $30 is nothing can we do it too?

But if you are Salvadoran then you will get free, don't miss it.

Quote
Salvadorans will be able to download the government’s digital wallet, enter their ID number and receive $30 in Bitcoin, Finance Minister Alejandro Zelaya told local media last month.

By the way a my rough estimate suggest there are 4.4M adults in El Salvador and if half of the population downloads the wallet that means
2.2M x $30 = $69 million coming to BTC...?

Lets pump it.

Here's my description of my current plan for Tuesday, in the MSTR thread - which in essence is for me to buy $30 worth of BTC in each of my BTC related accounts that I have an ability to buy BTC.. which is currently 6 accounts:

The chairman and CEO of MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor, plans to spend $ 30 on September 7 to buy bitcoin in support of its implementation in El Salvador, thus taking part in the promotion offered on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/phgtq2/so_we_all_buying_30_worth_of_bitcoin_on_tuesday/

Of course, I am in support of buying $30 worth of bitcoin at whatever is the price on Tuesday, September at 2pm Pacific time, and personally, I am planning to buy $30 in every single account that I have that 1) has dollars in it or 2) a link to a bank account for dollars or 3) some other way of having $30 available for the purchase of BTC without having to sell BTC in order to make such $30 available.

It seems that I have 6 accounts that currently meet my own criteria, and I had three accounts that I had been actively using on a fairly regular basis so they have no issues in regards to making sure that they are set to go and I can market buy $30 worth of BTC at or around the time of the concerted effort.

So of course, tentatively I am thinking that my BTC purchases are going to be $30 x 6 = $180 - unless I find some other ways that I either have already set up, I can easily set up or I want to go through the process of setting up some new ways to make some additional $30 BTC purchases.

By the way on the three less active BTC related accounts that I currently have, I did make $50 test transactions on each of them in the past few days in order to ensure that I would feel comfortable that they work sufficiently and I will be able to immediately buy the $30 worth of BTC on Tuesday at the designated time.  .. so my extra BTC purchases in preparation for this concerted symbolic and supportive play is anticipated to be $150 (already spent) + $180 (the transactions that I will do on Tuesday at around 2pm pacific time) = $330 worth of extra BTC.

Oh noes! We crashed down to 51.5k. Better call Proudhon....

doesnt someone here have him on speed dial or something?

I did  Wink but he changed his number and told the mods to delete my

homage to him.

the block of threads 50k to 100k was removed by the mods.

since we hit 50k.

the new block of threads would be shorter.

I wonder if the mods would let me do a shorter locked  block

say:
55k
60k
65k
70k

Probably the mods do not like you.. or that diptwat yama either.

Let's go full retard (no homo) and do a homage to Roger Ver and Craig Wright and Gavin Andressen and Elon Musk while we are at it?

here is a nice little visual listing of which stores will accept Bitcoin in el salvador starting tomorrow

https://twitter.com/BitcoinMemeHub/status/1434782162742505477?s=19

Umm...I hope those aren't the only stores.

Legal tender is legal tender. Which by law means no store there can turn down bitcoin as accepted payment.

Hmmm I don’t use btc for small payments actually but I would love to go and buy some burgers etc at McD’s and pay with some sats …. Grin

- especially with lightning and something close to zero fees.

Legal tender is legal tender. Which by law means no store there can turn down bitcoin as accepted payment.

I've read that it's actually optional, hence I do expect that - especially at start - the huge majority of stores will turn down bitcoin payments (unfortunately).

Yes.  It's optional for small rink-i-dink operations who do not have an ability to accept it, and I would not categorize any of the companies on that prior list as being sufficiently small and rek-i-dink in order to not "have to" accept dee king daddy.

It all comes down to the fact that Bitcoin is a peer to peer money. Corporations are not a peer. They are a huge conglomeration of different people getting different percentages of your purchase. In order for a corporation to get paid in bitcoin (right now) you need a corporation to act as middleman (ie. BitPay) for the company.

Wow!!!!   All this time in bitcoin, and you somehow have a view that companies are not "peers"  That's about as retarded a statement as could be made.  Surely, there might be some companies making such arguments, but no one with any brains should actually believe such nonsense, unless you are just taking such statement out of context.

One comment I found telling was of someone going into a store to buy something with bitcoin but the owner wasn't there so they had to text the owner and the owner finally sent the payment address.

Sure the coming up with excuses makes sense.

Are we expecting McDonalds to set up a lightning wallet for their cashier to handle all of the money for that day, and then expect the cashier to make the choice between handing that wallet over to the owners at the end of the day or just quit with more than they would make in a year?

Another retarded statement.  Of course, there are all kinds of people who are put in charge of handling money, and they have to hand over the money at the end of the shift - or possibly various points in between if they happen to be handling large quantities (or potentially large quantities) of money.

Bitcoin will eventually not only take down governments but also take down corporations. But for now, we're not there yet.

Eventually the "McDonalds" will be a series of smart contracts running the restaurant with an algorithm as the "owner".

Yes.. small countries such as El Salvador may well be left with the choice of shutting down such company operations if they do not comply and surely some countries will not be willing to play that card, but they might be wiling to bluff or maybe play that card at a later date.  Countries, even small ones, are NOT devoid of power, even when dealing with large companies.
