Ok whatever.... you mentioned "popular will of the people"/"representative democracy. "
If that was truly the case, that last clown elected in 2016 would not have happened.

.....

I would *welcome* a widespread review of gun laws in the US. The overwhelming majority of them would be thrown out as ineffectual if nothing else.

The USA is a gun toting culture. Always has been, always will be.
So get used to mass shootings. (I'd venture to guess most Americans have at this point) They are not going away.
Debating gun laws in the USA is like debating religion.
Just like the thoughts and prayers the victims get, it's totally fruitless and useless. Sad but true.

Amen

I don't know any other country that exposes their kids to "active-shooter drills" and defends the weapons used to assault their kids. But as you say it's like debating religion which isn't that strange with a Supreme Court that is pushing theocracy.

@JJG : just to be sure, what's a low coiner ?

Dear bitcoin please stay in 20s for 4-5 days more. I want to top-up on my next salary.

Yes, #metoo. Buy some and add some more steps to my ladder.

I try not to be too judgmental in terms of people making choices for themselves and even assessing their own personal finances to figure out how much to get into BTC ad to figure out their target BTC allocation level.

The best that I feel that I can do is to attempt to give some guidelines, such as:

1) get the fuck off zero or

2) consider a beginner level allocation into bitcoin to be anywhere between 1% and 25% depending on your assessment of the matter and how aggressive that you want to be

3) consider beginning with figuring out your various finances and psychology and starting with something like $100 per week investing into BTC, but of coursed, if you live in a location in which you only earn less than $2k per month, then you might not be able to afford $100 per week, and maybe $10 per week or less will have to do.   You gotta be careful in terms of not overinvesting after considering your own cashflow, which includes considering your expenses and having an emergency fund.

A low coiner is someone who is way underinvested into BTC based on his own various circumstances and could be anyone who accounts for the 3 above categories, but still underinvests. .even though able to invest way more based on his own circumstances.. .so it is difficult to categorize exactly what is a low coiner but just that s/he fits into a category of way underinvested, and not just merely whimpy but really whimpy.. overly whmpy.

I thought you meant an absolute value (0.1BTC or 1 BTC or X BTC) but I guess as an overall investment it makes more sense, and also means I'm more of a BTCer than someone with 10 times more BTC, but many millions in the bank.

I need to find that 100K$ job though, anyone with US citizenship wants to marry me ?  Huh

I'm not against marrying a dude but convincing authorities that we're in love might be more difficult.

Just a note for charity's sake. Today's mass shooting was just outside of Chicago in an area that has some of the most restrictive "common sense gun laws" in the country. Mass shootings in schools are occurring in "gun free zones." Law's are no deterrent to mad lawless psychopaths hell bent on causing mass casualties. What DOES stop a madman with a gun, every single time, is a good guy with a gun... which is why these things always happen in places where none of the good guys can legally have guns. The untold story is the millions of rapes, assaults, and murders that are prevented by legally wielded handguns used in self protection. Why do you hate women so much as to want to take away the only tool they have to put them on equal standing to defend themselves from predatory men?

And as to Roe v Wade, I am actually rather liberal about my stance on abortion legislation I feel that there is no greater tragedy than an unwanted child. But as anyone with a reasonable understanding of our Constitutional Democratic Republic system should openly agree that Roe v Wade was clearly bad law based on unconstitutional judicial fiat and should have been repealed long ago. Our laws are to be set by elected legislators held responsible by the votes of their constituents, NOT a lifetime appointed group of Judges acting as robed tyrants. That is not a wise path regardless of your political wishes.

Abortion policy is not touched in the text of the Constitution and if our legislators want to put it there, there is a proscribed method for doing so. Or they could take the easier path of negotiating a common-sense bipartisan law to lay out basics on a federal level, or as it is now, leaving it completely up to the individual states to set that policy where-by the citizens of that state have the most ballot box power to punish/reward policy they disagree/agree with.

Jesus Christ, another shooting in America? At this point, Americans should be accepted by other countries (the ones they haven't yet bombed) as refugees on the grounds that the USA is too dangerous to live in. well at least it wasn't a cop, firing 42 warning rounds into an unarmed persons back, this time.

1. The good guy with a gun myth has been debunked many times. Most situations are solved by unarmed individuals. Looking at the last shooting incidents the people trained to deal with it didn't even do their job. Parents of children broke the police line to get their kids out of harms way instead of waiting for the police to finally do something...
2. Gun control wil only work if you do it at a national level. Take a look at >90% or other countries because apparently everyone is doing a better job than the USA.

Another teenage mass murderer in the USA.

 Roll Eyes

Happy Independence Day... Ugh....

 Cry

6 dead, dozens wounded in shooting rampage at July 4th parade in Chicago suburb of Highland Park

Don't know what's stopping usa from reviewing there gun law. This is crossing limits now.

Gun laws just got reviewed in the supreme court. Didn't go the way you'd like. Sorry, not sorry.

It is sad that it has to be explained.  But the gun laws in the USA are there so that if they try in the US what is being tried in other countries across the world it will be much harder to do.

The news will most likely not report it, but the shooter in Chicago was an antifa type masquerading as a "Trumper".  Why is this happening, you might ask?

We are in a war.  A new sort of war.

Actually Rich, in the USA, thru weirdness of the system, there are some major policies that are not representative of the majority of population.. Roe v Wade being overturned for starters.

Roe v Wade was not "policy" and was not set by the legislature. Even RBG stated that the ruling was on shaky ground. The Dems have had many occasions they could have enshrined it as law but, like the late RBG, they didn't move when they could have presumably also for "reasons".

Though there *are* plenty of genuine examples but they are typically not "third-rail" issues (though many of them should be in my book but there you go.)

Point is, there *is* an ongoing conversation in the US. My point is that many external commenters just seem to be pouting that a foreign country doesn't have the beliefs and values they would like them to have and are usually almost totally ignorant of the facts, the politics, the arguments (that have been ground out again and again), the nuances, the laws currently in place, the lack of enforcement, in many cases, of said laws and, for this particular issue, almost anything factual about the devices in question.

I would *welcome* a widespread review of gun laws in the US. The overwhelming majority of them would be thrown out as ineffectual if nothing else.

Damnit.  I am going to run out of merits.

I don't think the gun laws is the main issue. Murder is already illegal.

How lost young men are, sure.

Terrible education. The attitude of "just leave it to women" etc. Attention whoring. Me, me, me. Propaganda media / TV encouraging this behaviour. Absolutely.

Sitting in a class room I think is the worst way to learn history or another language.

I learned more within 10 minutes at an intro speech at the Anne Frank House museum and visiting a castle in Wales than years of terrible history education at school.

Playing on an iPhone all day is not going to make you gain much of an appreciation of how lucky you are in life either.

School should be much more about team building / making things thus gaining an appreciation of how difficult that is and educators ensuring no one is left out at any point.
