Hi <redacted>,

On April 9, 2021, the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) issued a summons, pursuant to a court order, demanding that Circle Internet Financial, LLC f/k/a Circle Internet Financial, Inc. (“Circle”) and affiliates, produce records relating only to U.S. taxpayers that engaged in the trading of digital assets with at least $20K in value of transactions in any one year between 2016 through 2020. Notice of the court order authorizing service of the summons on Circle which the Department of Justice made public on or about April 1, 2021, can be found here. We are writing to inform you that we are complying with this summons which requires us to produce information specific to your account.

If you have any concerns about this, we encourage you to seek legal advice from an attorney.

We also want to highlight that because the IRS served the summons to Circle on April 9, 2021, and our response to the summons has not been fully resolved after more than six months, it is our understanding that the periods of limitations under 26 U.S.C. §§ 6501 (relating to assessment and collection) and 6531 (relating to criminal prosecution) were suspended as of October 9, 2021, and will continue until Circle’s response to the summons is fully resolved. This may be relevant to the tax returns that you have filed for the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 calendar years. If you have questions about your tax liability for those years, we encourage you to consult with your tax advisor.

Regards,

Team Circle

well the way i see it the ETF being approved is the reason we had a run up from 25K, its priced in now. So not getting approved means we need a massive correction, and a massive correction generally leads to some panic selling,  if we don't have the ETF to look forward to and insted we are faced with a system that is Clearly trying to stifle bitcoin...  in this scenario 20K seems very posibile imo. but, it seems more likely than ever before, that these ETFs will get a green light. and again because i believe this fact is already priced in, i'm betting in the short term we are moving DOWN and not up on this news, buy the rumor sell the news type deal, Its a solid trade imo, it sure is a lot easier to just buy now and hope that the etf approval means new ATH's, but we dont make money taking easy trades.

We have each said our parts, and I don't really disagree with anything that you said in terms of various ways to play both sides, and sure, you have to have something at stake in order to make money in those kinds of presumptions that you have, and even if some of the pre-ETF type discussions were likely a lot of the run up from $26k/$27k, that does not even mean that complete denial of such an ETF would mean that we would have to correct down to those kinds of levels or that they would even be reasonable, including the idea that they might have  already been quite suppressed BTC prices as our starting point... so if we are starting from quite suppressed prices (just thinking in terms of the 200-week moving average as a kind of guideline for what bottoms tend to be and what is reasonable for possible bottoms), then going back down to either those low prices of $26k/$27k or even $24k/$25k - which was also not that long ago that we were there, but even more so your expectation of $20k-ish just seems like similar kinds pie in the sky expectations for sub $500 that were being made in March 2017, and sure anything is possible, but sometimes, we get to a point where that ship has likely sailed and you are being a bit of a dumb ass to be considering 30% to 40% below the 200-week moving average as any kind of base-case possibilities of something that could happen, even if some bad news (regarding ETF rejection or whatever) ends up happening.

we have seen -30% below 200 week ema before, it's not impossible. the ETF getting  rejected seems to have a nearly 0% chance of happening, so it if IS rejected to me this signals somthing very wrong and thats why im putting my target so damn low for this crazy scenario. crazy scenario, crazy target. the most likely scenario is that the ETF gets approved, followed by a nice little price crash to 31K

yes yes yes i am a degen gambleing with the most tasty corn the world has ever seen. but its fun you should try it sometime.

I wonder if we could have a pre ½ ing ath say 80k by march

and crazy numbers to follow. Would be nice.

If we compare dec 2017 price of 19.5k to dec  2023 price of 43.5 k we are better than inflation but not by a lot.

we have grown about 15% a year since dec 2017 on average.

#Bitcoin

looks like there is a lot more to come in the next 1.5 years.

Source.

I agree with @philipma1957 that it has to happen by March, hitting $80k is the nearest...
-----

My opinion/guess is that it is likely not going to be very accurate to just take some random period and say, what about this.. how do we compare to this one... and yeah, I realize that you are not working on being random.. but it kind of seems random.

Yes, as far as I've seen it works randomly, accurate guesses rarely come in handy if only for a short period of time. Now if you say it is about long time then I would say many assumptions have come true in a long time, when someone has made this assumption very intelligently. Although I am not associated with a big trader but I guess based on what I have seen over the years.

Isn't that the scene of Xandir's anal defloration ("Drawn Together")?

Speaking of...

As imgur disallowed bitcointalk, i decided to upload a fresh pic of one of my favorite deep space targets to talkimg.
NGC 2244 aka. Rosette Nebula (More, but maybe boring details below)

This time i used the new Autofocus, resulting in some more details and less blur in the original data. I also followed a EAA (Electronically Assisted Astronomy) approach of cranking up the camera's gain, which allows the total imaging time to stay low while collecting the same amount of light as in regular astrophotography. This results in more noise and shorter single frame exposure times. The two major caveats are reduction of dynamic, so stars are saturated earlier, as well as the very faint sky background structures (radiations) don't get through, because they drown in the increased noise levels. SNR and dynamics vs. convenience. This works well with bright targets and star structures, without much nebulosity in the background. I had to stay down to 30 seconds of single frame exposure time, while 20 would have produced nicer stars, also the power plug of the telescope mount fell out, because the cable got caught by an adjustment screw mid session, i recognized it 35 minutes later, stopped the session and threw away 71 of 236 frames. Total image count should have been 240, i decided to increase the amount of images because the night was so clear, when i discovered the accident. Still, the level of (foreground) detail in the processed result is about the same as in a high-definition astrophotography session of about 4-5 hours in duration. The target is of medium brightness, at the edge of being suitable for the high-gain/short exposure EAA approach. A major difference is the relatively higher amount of shorter wavelengths (non red-ish) compared to imaging at unity-gain, which is most likely a result of the shorter exposures, too.

Enuff of the blah, have a nice day  Grin

EDIT: So why did i go the EAA route? Because my current astro camera is a bit of a unicorn when it comes to calibrate out nasty artifacts, but only when using it the standard (high-dynamic) way. It originally was designed as an EAA camera, and has many fans in the EAA community. So it seemed logical that processing data in an EAA-kind-of-way might deliver better results in terms of less artifacts, which turned out to be the case here. However, i will buy a good camera for classic astrophotography, but i'll need a better PC to process the data (already ordered), since the images are 4 times the size in bytes, from the IMX 571 sensors, which are currently "good standard". Also the Xeon E5 CPU i'm using for number-crunching is no more supported by a growing number of data processing software vendors. Staying on the EAA side of things will also result in having to process about 4 times more image files, which takes a heck of times longer, too. New system performance should be 3x CPU, 10x I/O compared to the old PC.

And i can't wait to process galaxy pics using EAA, with 5 second exposures for crisp results by combining more than 1000 images.  Cool

“See Father,” said Jesus, “how pursued by evil, (the soul) is wandering far from thy spirit over the earth. She tries to flee from hateful chaos; she knows not how to emerge from it. To that end Father, send me! I will descend, bearing all the seals. I will pass through all the aeons; I will unveil every mystery; I will denounce the appearances of the gods and, under the name of Gnosis, I will transmit the secrets of the holy way.”
[Hymn of the Soul, attributed to the Naassene Gnostics in the Philosophumena, V, 10, 2]

[Let the soul (male-holy-knowledge) prevail over the spirit (female-spirit-thruth), so they can both (as a whole - as one, affirming the duality) rise to where (the realm) they belong - avoiding death. This is the way, thus what happens to the flesh is inconsequential.]

Day 5,825: The government still doesn't understand wallets.

Are you guys afraid of the upcoming "unhosted wallet" ban? I am shaking right now. Sobbing and screaming. That madwoman Elizabeth Warren is going to do it, she is going to take away our memories, notepads and pens. We are no longer allowed to remember how to access our decentralized Bitcoin wallets.

The moment the government finds out that my brain produces DMT, I am afraid I will be considered a drug mule and put in prison. I am so scared. Tongue
