@houseperu
🚨 Breaking: Argentina has just taken an innovative step in the world of finance and technology. The country's Minister of Foreign Affairs has announced that it will now be possible to arrange contracts in Bitcoin. This decision is seen as a major victory for cryptocurrency enthusiasts and a potential game changer for the Argentine economy.

This news comes at a time when the country is facing economic challenges, and the adoption of Bitcoin could provide a much-needed boost. With its decentralized nature and growth potential, Bitcoin offers an alternative to traditional financial systems and could help combat issues like inflation and currency devaluation.

For our Spanish speakers, this is the Tweet by Minister of Foreign Affairs

@DianaMondino
Ratificamos y confirmamos que en Argentina se podrán pactar contratos en Bitcoin.
https://x.com/dianamondino/status/1737874320322424984

Roughly translates to ‘We ratify and confirm that in Argentina contracts can be agreed in Bitcoin.’

I like making money while sleeping.  Smiley
I like making money in both states: Sleeping and Waking! Ah, sure it's fun to make money when you're sleeping but it's also fun to make money when you are waking. Waking money comes from trading, while sleeping money comes from investing. I think we need both of those if we want to earn money in both states!

Have had good holiday soon

@Jimbo

Thanx bro. Turkey's in the fridge. Gifts are mostly bought and wrapped.

I'll be putting on the Santa suit on Saturday and playing Xmas songs on the Hammond organ at the local pub, doing a mix of traditional Christmas carols and the popular Xmas songs of the baby boomers' childhood (which are now standards and thrust upon every generation since!). I'm really a bassist but I like doing the one-man-band thing on the organ, playing the bass pedals with different parts on the two manual keyboards. It's kinda like juggling... you've only got two sides of the brain but three parts to deal with. One part has to be in the air, in this case my left hand which kinda goes on autopilot playing whatever chord the right hand melody and left foot bass line are doing. Fun.

Wife's already down in Mexico City for Christmas with her family there. I'll be with my family here in Toronto and then we'll fly to Cancun during the first week of January to meet at the airport there and start our winter in Quintana Roo. By then we'll both be ready to relax for a while on the Caribbean before heading out to the jungle to build a roof on the new house..

The holiday season can be hectic but I still love it. Have a great one yourself.

If you invested $1,000, 10 years ago:

Google: $5,000
Facebook: $6,000
Amazon: $7,500
Tesla: $25,000
Bitcoin: $44,000
BM

Google 8000$

1000$ invested in BTC 6 years ago, 2000$ now  Grin

My read on this (short time period relative "underperformance") is that bitcoin run out of 'adventurous' investors, but is about to unlock the "advised money" first, then sovereign funds.

IMHO, bitcoin shall come to out performance soon or it could have already started last October and may last for 7 years, as it did when gold ETF was approved.

This "in cash" thing about the ETF is ticking me off. They're just looking for a way into paper btc, which as of now isn't a (real) thing. They will have their way, I'm sure.

I hope they get burned by the mightiest short squeeze on the "underlying" the Earth has ever seen. That will teach them and enrich others (notably, some of the people reading these words).

I don't the correlation between in-cash and paper BTC. Bitcoin ETF will be a highly regulated product, given the position of the SEC.

I don't see a problem with "in-cash" settlement, considering most in market participants would be entering in cash, would make sense from a financial/accounting side to exit in-cash as well.

Some drawbacks floating around is fees/fees and more fees. Given the state of the mempool, i think settlement in cash maybe more of an advantage, given the cost to sell on an exchange is less than 1%

Have a great Christmas!

You too. And happy holidays for anyone offended by Christmas.

Today's the winter solstice here in the northern hemisphere and the pagans are having a ball. They're closing off streets for a "Festival of Lights" in one neighborhood and having a big parade complete with stilt-walkers, fire-eaters, tribal drums and a big bonfire in the park, all under careful supervision of the Toronto Fire Department. One entrepreneur is even selling little tealight-burning paper lanterns on sticks for the parade-goers.

There's a reason why many religions seem to have their biggest holiday at this time of year. It's the solstice. Oh boy, the sun's not dying... the days are getting longer again. Let's celebrate.

in-cash or in-kind, fractional-reserve / paper Bitcoin is still possible... and porbably legal?

gold ETFs are a "highly regulated product" and they naked short sell the crap out of that all the time, no?

Bitcoin is having a nice run but with its mempool issues currently you can really see the effect on higher throughput blockchains. Solana and ADA seem to be crushing it as a result. I hope Bitcoin can get this figured out. It is way too early in the cycle to be having these issues. Makes you wonder who these people are making transactions currently.
