someone said earlier that this is the longest thread on teh internet!?

is this true?

(I've read the whole thing!)

I wouldn't be surprised if it's right up there. If you have a quick sniff around bigger ones show up.

This   http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/chatterbox/kimiko-s-corner-it-r0xx0rz-my-b0xx0rz/t.212211_1/  has nearly 110,000 pages. I have no plans to read the whole thing. I might've read all of this thread though.

I think it's a sad day when one of Argentina's preeminent number theorists turns out to be a drug trafficker Sad

Hey, if it can happen to Walter White... I can definitely see a resemblance.

http://bitcoinity.org/markets/list?currency=ALL&span=24h

meh, okcoin got caught faking volume did they not? i don't take volume on any of the Chinese exchanges seriously, and okcoin i would ignore more than any other.

Everyone speculates about chinese traders on this thread. Are there any chinese traders here, in the thread? There's gotta be some kind of bitcoin online community for china, no? I am interested, as everyone talks of the chinese traders like they are a completely separate and mysterious entity.

There is a Chinese language sub-forum in this forum.  Surely there are many forums in China.

You can find Chinese sources by Googling "比特币" ("bitcoin"), with quotes.  Good luck with Google Translate.

EDIT: you may want to add "5月27日" (with quotes too) to get news with date "May 27" on/in them.

There's a Chinese language section on this very forum. It's just that pesky google translate that stops anyone from understanding what they're on about. Some Chinese, or China-based, people do post on here occasionally but very rarely.

i have a nagging suspicion, though, that there are many western traders on Chinese exchanges. i've seen a few people in the tradingview chat that have said they trade on huobi. i'm sure there's some around here who do as well.

If that's where the volume (if you believe it) and zero fee action is then it's a natural fit for a trader regardless of nationality. I guess many of their big exchanges will eventually relocate to Hong Kong or elsewhere and go properly international.

yes, i don't think anyone thinks that mainland China is an ideal place to headquarter a bitcoin exchange. i am sort of excited to see huobi's english language platform. might send some coins over there when they become more internationally accessible.

I don't know how easy it is for foreigners to open an account on those exchanges.  They deal only in yuan so far, and you need a Chinese bank account to withdraw yuan, if not to deposit.  And then there is the language barrier.

I find using baidu.com over google gets better results.  Also baidu translate over google.

I got a small deposit (100€) in yesterday at Bitstamp and now they want me to answer 5 questions.
[ ... ]

100E? Is this for real? I'm not gonna send money to Bitstamp again. Any fiat will go through Bitfinex for now, until better options arise. Too many reports of this. I have become too fearful that they will freeze my funds to keep money there. What if they don't like my answers? What if they try to say my coins are from SR or something?

Yes, what is going on with Bitstamp lately? I have been using them for over a year and they recently blocked Bitcoin withdrawals in my account without notifying me, I asked them to allow the withdrawal of Bitcoins again and they tell me this:

Quote
Please provide a high resolution image of yourself holding your ID (the same ID used for your account verification) and "[date of submission] For Bitstamp LIMITED only" written on a piece of paper.

Attach the document in a reply to this ticket, so we can check your identity and proceed with your request.

Are they joking? I am just a simple trader, not a criminal. After Gox, where I luckily got out in December, now this again.
