ok ladies and gentlemen, im officially out and done with all of this. if the rocket was going anywhere it would have already blasted off. no blast off means we are still going down. rip in piece xbt. should have known, to good to be true. i shall remember my bits fondly.

i have come to the realization that it's time to cut my losses. my hard earned money wont be losing any more value when it is sitting safe and sound inside my bank account at chase National Bank, in fact it will be earning interest!

i strongly recommend you all do the same, put your money in the bank where it belongs, or else the whales, banksters, and corrupt governments will end up with all the value of your coins, and you will be left with worthless digits on your computer, you will be forever ridiculed by family and friends about magic beans and ponzi schemes, and you will eventually be forced to join the military and fight and die in wars you don't understand and definitely don't agree with, or find yourself locked in a prison making license plates for twenty cents an hour.

Technically killing Bitcoin is possible, this could be achieved by simply forcing ISPs to block the 8332 port, this will kill Bitcoin, even if you would change the port this would create two forks and confusion and incompatibility between the new and old software.... it would be a whole mess and the end of Bitcoin as you know it.

Sure about that? I ran a full node with port 8332 blocked for about a year with no problems.

You can buy a static IP and have the port open on your host.

Edit: where will you buy it from? what part of force ISP don't you understand ?

1. Nodes using tor that wouldn't be affected.
2. Easy to change ports in the conf file.

1- nodes that use tor are connected to the internet through ISP that eventually block the port.
2- changing the port (I have to check if this is possible though) in your config and everyone's config will result to a dead network, got it ? think about it

No, I just couldn't be arsed typing 'Satoshi client'. As you say, not a full node with 8332 blocked so no benefit to the network but 8 connections and no issues whatsoever. Blocked at ISP level for about a year before I got around to asking them to unblock it.

you know what blocked means right ? when I say blocked, it means like when the 8332 is blocked by your computer's firewall and you need to add it to the trusted list in order to allow bitcoin daemon to connect.

Maybe try reading, my ISP blocks all unusual ports to protect users from their own stupidity, it was allowed on my firewall. Iirc the Satoshi client switches to port 80 when that happens and there are plenty of nodes available on 80 (and any other common port for that matter).

How does ones sidebar status have the next  bubble to begin between Sept 25th nd Oct 25th and lose faith to sell sub 300. I hope it was still at a profit.

1. It would not be a big issue. Nodes that can't connect will not connect and an alternative connection option can be produced.

2. A big issue might be if the ISPs blocked the port at their uplinks. This would form islands with different blockchains (by my understanding). However, a few modified clients could *bridge* the islands and the shorter fork would be rejected.

3. There is nothing that says that bitcoin must run on a specific port or even a single port. If ISPs started engaging in such behavior (and it would have to be some kind of coordinated effort), Tor, VPNs random ports and encrypted connections could be brought into play (this has all been done for torrents which face similar issues since ISPs are often hostile to it because 1) it eats bandwidth and 2) they often are in competition with the content that is being shared).

The only requirement is that a client be able to communicate with the mass of the network one way or another. And there's a lot of "anothers" available.

I'll see if I can find something, not sure how I even found it was a problem as I just installed and it seemed to work fine, I think I tried to find my IP in a list of full nodes but it could have been debugging output either.

EDIT: Fsck that, searches flooded with mining and config data, some vague stuff from changes made in 2011, couldn't find any clear info.

yes, you are right things has changed since version 7.0 even IPv6 is supported now, therefore my argument is invalid
