When you say lost........ you mean? /\sell wife and farm ...buy bitcoin because some internet personality said so! lololol *good times!* sighh.. I doubt that, but I am curious how he has supposedly lost $150K Maybe all his bitcoins were worth $150k more last year? It's not so hard to understand that.

If you are expecting $10k prices, taking the chance of selling now and buying a few dollars less is the smart move. 10K is so much a complete fantasy at this point we never even busted $2500 like i thought we could!

...I tried to get my coins out of Gox and into paper in August 2013.
They demanded verification even though they said they were still allowing unverified Bitcoin withdrawals.
I hadn't had any ID (don't believe in it) since letting my driver's license lapse in 1966 but broke down and applied for an Ontario ID card.
By the time my ID arrived, my coins were already gone from Gox ...
sounds similiar to the XPY movie~ sell you "ico" coins then make you give verification before you actually get them!? wtf :\ hmmmmm They didn't sell me anything though. I bought the coins at Virtex where you could still deposit fiat anonymously at the time, and transferred them to my anonymous Gox account. The reason I moved them there was that the USD market at Gox was much more volatile and I wanted to be prepared for an unusual event. I'd missed the totally predictable flash crash and subsequent rebound when Satoshi Dice was sold because I had no coins in Gox at the time.

Hmm.. well there is the unrealised loss aspect, but he could be referring to unrealised gains, the old 20/20 "missed profits" To exaggerate, he could have bought something like 116 BTC at $2 (for all we know) and then failed to exit the market at the peak last year , when his max profit could have been approx $150,000 and now feels he has lost $150,000 (the price at the peak) but really he lost the profit opportunity. IF he did buy low (say $2 as in my example above) and bought 116 BTC his costs would have been $232 for 116 btc, so he could say he has lost $150,000 by not selling, and omit that a) he has not sold yet, or b) that his coins are still worth approx $46,000 (a hefty profit still from $232) so then has he lost $150,000 or has he lost $104,000 or has he gained $45768 ? Or did he spend $500,000 on Bitcoins, that are now only worth $350,000 Or did he buy in and out tarding and get burned, incurring $150,000 in loss. etc, etc There are many ways that particular cookie could crumble... Essentially is this guy booking a $150,000 loss on his year end books? Or are we looking at $150,000 through the 20/20 , if only I wudda, perfect hindsight glasses They are all very different scenarios, and the question is worth asking imo.

Luckily it was only 50 coins that had cost me less than $6k.
That's a lot of money to some people. A hell of a lot. Indeed it was for for me also. $6000 is $6000. I said "only" because it was less than a third of my coins at the time and bitcoins represented only a small part of my total assets. I'm not rich but I'm not poor either. It's taken me over a year to replace them without having to leave myself thin in other areas. Thankfully I wasn't wiped out like many were by the Gox fiasco.
