My chips are in batch 7. If one batch has 10k chips and one module has max. 20 chips and burnin produces 1000 modules per week, should I expect my modules ~4 weeks later?
Thanks for this great project!

SOmewhere in this fashion. I think he could do 500 and then he just hired additionally someone once the sheer number of orders came in. The joys of being self employed There are about 80k chips being ordered. However it isn't clear how many people are going to send the boards over to burnin yet. He mgiht work with 10k or 60k chips. All in all, 20 chips per board, 1000 per week means 20k chips per week could be taken care of. So if he scales it right, this would mean he can do the order in about 2-3 weeks. Should work out.

Does anyone have an idea of the dimensions of the boards Burnin will be using? (length, width). I'm trying to decide whether to go for the 10 or 20 chip boards..the perils of a small apartment!

If anyone wants to buy my 20 chip preorder from batch 6 contact me via PM! No markup, so would be 1.72 BTC (20 * 0.086) m_yaw; 20; 1.72; 1wZKwZ7kEqdsZyDjYuFR7okZYiKV4KhcD Edit: I've made a separate thread about my attempt to sell the 20 chip order: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192873.0

Burnin, will the new ordering website allow you to select an alternative chip provider like the group buys of ragingazn628? He had said he could get the chips to you but I would like to confirm all is well regarding that.

So if you wanted to stack these boards is there a good diagram / pic of how it will look like? Secondly not sure if I overlooked it but what would be the best way to power multiple boards ? lets say you wanted to do the full 32 board layout, what should that look like / be powered by?
thanks

There is a CAD drawing on the first post. That's probably the best you're going to get until the specs and design settle down. -Jay

I'd actually love to see a larger version of this board with maybe 50-80 chips or so. Looking at the orders in zefir's thread, there's quite a lot of 10 and 20 chip buys, then 100+. It's gonna be quite a few boards with, say, 500 chips Is there a technical reason why this design couldn't be scaled to greater chip amounts per board?

I would think this 10/20/100 chips per board thing is all up in the air until Avalon release the data. From what i can work out, Burnin's original design follows Avalon's own ASIC system (10 chips per board, 32 boards per system) - which is no doubt why he chose the design, as it's a fairly safe bet it's going to be straight forward to design and build. When you start adding X chips per board no doubt it gets tricky with controlling them and powering them, and you will enter into an unknown situation. By doing 10 chips on 32 max, he's much more likely to have a working product and ship within the quickest possible time. See https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon - (10 chips per board, 32 boards max in a system)

Even if burnin could put 100+ chips on a board, why would you want him to? Even if you were going to have a large number of chips in use, you know that there will be failures. If not right away over time. Wouldn't you want your system to be a healthy mix of density and scalability? 20 chip boards seems like a real sweet spot. If you have a chip or board fail after a few months you don't want your whole system down while you get it repaired. Better to just pull out the bad board and leave 4 more still running.
I guess if you were going to try and get a whole batch of 10k chips running on your own it might be worth it to look into 100 chip boards. But if you've got that kind of capital in the game then you could probably develop the boards yourself, or contract burnin to do it for you on the side.

Also think of those people different time zones, who wont get to see the ordering announcement until several hours after everyone else. Randomising it is a fairer system.
It should be in the order the chips come in. Why would anyone in the first batch of chips have to wait to get his board manufactured after someone in the last batches of chips gets his? Makes no sense... There are 10000 chips in one batch. If burnin production is as high as 1000 x 10 per day then there is no problem. But if it is lower, then how to order the chips that come all together? What we were discussing is that doing that on a first-registered-fist-served basis might not be the best way, as: - will the email account/registration server get flooded? - if the opening date & time is not posted well in advance, would it be fair with people who are sleeping at the moment or who fail to read the post on time? Opening a registering window, and within that window, creating a random order, solves those problems. Of course, that order would only be applied to order chips reaching burnin at the same time (so probably, within the same batch). Just an idea.

I thought that myself but then i thought that such pcb-design at least should be able to manage a chips thats broken. Its not that all chips are working one after another and need the other chips.

Of course, that order would only be applied to order chips reaching burnin at the same time (so probably, within the same batch). Just an idea. If everyone in zefir's group purchase sends their order to burnin, that's only about 300 customers. (Maybe even less as I only used payment addresses to count, someone could order from multiple addresses which would lower the count even more). I will assume that not 100% are sending them to burnin. Yes, there are other group purchases going on, which can complicate things; but I would say that your payment address and it's chain info should queue burnin's order system. If you bought from zefir, your order can be verified and queued based on when it was placed. The only problem I see is "odd" orders of 10 that would be combined to make an "even" 20 double density board, but that is pretty small I think. As far as the other group orders, I'm not sure. Maybe burnin can weigh on on those matters. I am curious about chip failure/destruction though. Is there an allotment of chips set aside for assembly mishaps?

Hello, I´ve also purchased some Chips from Zefir and want to send them to Burnin. The only thing I´ve done so far is to transmit the btc to Zefir and sent him the p.m., so I´m in the list. I can sign my messages. So what I have to do now? Waiting for Burnin`s website to order? I want to go sure, that my chips are placed on Burnin`s boards
