burnin before opening orders please post up if you can the last final prices in order to get the money ready Smiley Also post some power supplies or have some ready to order. I wouldn't want to have boards in hand but no power supply. Thank you.

Where are you from? I would suggest to get your power supply yourself. There is a pcie connector if i remember correctly, so buying a atx psu sould be suitable, depending on how many boards you will power.

Hmm, read about KNC, but never looked at their setup. Guess we think alike.  Grin (Anyone got a link to their designs?)

Heatsinks are "custom". Plenty of room. Fan is 120mm. Wiring can be routed through side slots.
Of course it's all prototype until the boards ship.

In my unprofessional opinion your design

is far superior to KNCs

for a number of reasons. Two of them are: less cabling and far less mechanical parts, which will, beyond a doubt, fail sooner or later.

Your cooler fins could start low at the side and grow higher to the middle, like this you could suck out a substantial mass of hot air fast.

looking at those gaps between PCBs - I think one more can fit in - a pentagram would create nice devil's machine Smiley

Thanks.  Grin

A heatsink could be manufactured like that, but cost vs benefit isn't worth it, IMHO. We've hashed through the temp calcs in the Klondike thread and due to the low W per chip, virtually any heatsink design will be more than capable to cool these boards. Unless OC'ing becomes a factor later; a cheaper, simpler design is the way to go for now. But in the future, who knows?

I thought he can do tests with the chips alone too. With prototyping boards. But im no technician so far.

Burnin, do you think 12v 15A power supply will be fine for 3 boards?
Your specs say each board with 20 chips will draw approx. 40W, that is 3.33A @ 12v, so for 3 boards it would be exactly 10A, so 15A power supply should handle it fine... I was thinking about something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-15A-180W-Switch-Power-Supply-Driver-For-LED-Strip-Light-Display-220V-4-/200725152098?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item2ebc26c162

give it at least 4 Amps / board. - a 15A supply can handle 3 board quite well.

And to all the Power supply questions:
1. the 20/40W are estimates, when overclocking/Volting it could draw significantly more (The regulators could do up to 70Watts)
2. You can connect two boards to one PCIe plug
To do that just add bridge cables between the terminal block of the upper and the lower board. (The green thing on the right)
3. I could add a ATX power supply to my website, If find a source with good prices
4. A power distribution board is not really needed, see point #2

That's some sexy picture.

Please don't use UPS to ship to Canada!
They charge outrageous customs brokerage fees and packages always look like they got kicked down several flights of stairs.
