Hmm normally Bitstamp is around the same price as Gox...what's up with it lately? Not enough trading?

ya normally i have bitcoinity up with two tabs, one on gox in white and Bitstamp in black. they are normally close but bitstamp is mostly about a dollar or two behind but lately ive seen nothing but 5+ on there up to ten at one time.

I guess you mean "it's down". Still 250 BTC strong. Whoever put it made a large buy with no slippage thanks to the predictable force downwards after the rally. Quite smart person.

I doubt it. I guess that person put an "instant" order, which is not the same as mtgox's market order: it puts the order at market price and then moves it every 10 minutes. I guess it's the same person who is selling now. If you want cheap coins, sell all now and put an order where that wall will end.

edit: it's gone. Someone bought it.

I doubt it. Yesterday's 1kBTC buy wall appeared a 1-1.5$ below market price and stayed there for more than 10 minutes. The selling pressure after the rally brought the price towards the wall and then started eating it.

agreed! the price is 131.88 and the price on gox is 137.12   Shocked

WOW that is a good amount of spread, maybe even enough to get the arbitrator to make money of if it.

The trick with arbitration is you need to move the FIAT somehow. Doing a SEPA withdraw from Bitstamp, then sepa transfer to gox, isn't much of arbitration. You need to keep a lot of money and coins on both exchanges. I'm sure someone is doing it, but.....

I thought I'd try my hand it arbitrage. It was easy! Buy at Bitstamp and sell at MtGox. Until all my fiat is at MtGox. Now what? Maybe if I wait long enough it will switch around. Looking at prices a week or more ago it was often the other way around, but for the last week it has been strictly mtGox > Bitstamp.

the price difference was due to bitinstant temporarily disabling bitstamp transfers. now that they are enabled again, arbitrage is much easier and the prices are much closer.

That's nice if you can use bitinstant.

Yeah must be nice having Btinstant as an option no such luck in the UK.
Not much wall observing going on in here and as it is ''second biggest and best exchange'' thought we should actually include some. Although compared to the number of users on MtG it does question even further how useful the wall images are for BtStmp. Only 568ish to be sold to get to 160 but over there it is just over 3k.

Anyway, someone if we go by this, doesn't want it above 170 any time soon...

They gave me a price *over* $170 on a buy minutes ago. This was obviously a bad fill but they refuse to acknowledge it.

Hmm maybe you should be questioning that then, the highs on charts/order books etc. haven't even registered an error or anything to that level so how can they not knowledge the problem.

its strange how the walls at bitstamp and the walls at gox are not the same. big walls too, like the one at 170 over 3000 coins to get there
