Hey peeps is it worth mining NIST5 on twin 1080ti's?

I mined solaris on 2x 1080 (not TI). I was able to get around 90-100 MH/s with 120W power limit using ccminer-alexis . When net hashrate was below 5GH/s, i could get up to 50 XLR per 24 hours mining solo. Now, it's not so profitable to mine XLR, with exchange rate of ~ 0.00005 BTC per XLR.
In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

@SolarisDev, is there still any Dev bounty for building a wallet for Linux? I noticed that your website still doesn't contain any, so i thought that i could try to make a .deb package for Ubuntu at least, as it is the most popular distro now.

Thank you  @starl1ng . Of course we will pay you bounty for that .

Linux distros use different shared libraries and that's why it is better everyone to compile his own wallet from source.
However i have compiled linux binary for solariscoin you need to install the shared libraries to run the wallet.

Builted on Suse Leap 42.2 64-bit.

Without Qr code.
Solariscoin-qt4
Solariscoin-qt5

With Qr code.
Solariscoin-qt4-qrcode
Solariscoin-qt5-qrcode

For anyone who want to compile with qt5 at solariscoin-qt.pro

 replace the line
Code:
QMAKE_CXXFLAGS = -fpermissive

with
Code:
QMAKE_CXXFLAGS = -fpermissive -DBOOST_NO_CXX11_SCOPED_ENUMS

Thank you. Yes, i saw the message you quoted. And that's why i proposed to create a .deb package, it assures that a user would have all required packages installed. And Ubuntu is a good start as it will cover lots of users with Ubuntu/Mint and maybe Debian.

I've already tried to compile on Raspbian and latest Ubuntu Mate for Pi, but both attempts failed Sad
On Ubuntu tho, I've managed to compile wallet but can't get it running because of lack of .conf file (but I've created one Cheesy). Any ideas how to get it working? Smiley

I compiled solariscoin wallet in Fedora x64, and my .conf file looks like this:

Code:
listen=1
server=1
rpcuser=[user]
rpcpassword=[password]
rpcallowip=[allowed ip]
rpcport=[rpcport]
port=18920
addnode=185.183.99.171
addnode=185.183.99.19

listen, server and rpc* parameters are used for solo mining, so probably you need only addnode parameters

You need to put that solariscoin.conf file to your data directory. I start solariscoin-qt with following parameters
Code:
./solariscoin-qt -datadir=/path/to/solaris
Thus, i put solariscoin.conf to /path/to/solaris

Otherwise, datadir would be something like this:
Code:
~/.solariscoin

Of course, you should replace all paths with your local ones

I am interested to know why people like Solaris and why they think it has a good future. Can you guys share some ideas? What are the features that make Solaris different and will help it survive in the crypto jungle?

I'll list my personal reasons for liking it.

- Very active developer.
- Started not that long ago so it's a good time to get in on it.
- Small total amount of coins; bodes well for future value.
- Can stake now and get a little bit extra that way.
- Mines pretty easily and uses ~8% less power then some other algorithms (based on Nvidia testing I have done).
- Nice looking and properly functioning wallet.
- Fast transfer times.
- Masternodes are being looked into and probably going to happen at some point in the future (that's my understanding of it anyway).

Has the dev set a date on when the web wallet will be released and if it will allow people to stake using that wallet? I've been getting some questions about this on Twitter as I promote Solaris a lot on there and people are waiting for this web wallet. I think having a staking feature would be good with this web wallet as it gives people a chance to stake using a laptop or ipad/tablet.

I agree that masternodes shouldn't be rushed to be implemented as we have a lot of time on our side so just take it easy dev, there is no hurry for this as the price has been steady around the current price, yes we have big swings now and then but overall the price has been steady.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.

What I miss most is a roadmap.
Without a roadmap this project will not go anywhere I think.
Brainstorm ideas, take the promissing ones, make a (realistic) roadmap and work on it.
Then maybe this coin has a future.

Putting out a roadmap with too ambitious of a goal(s) can actually be much worse then not having one. Unless you have a large development team it's difficult to put out a big roadmap full of good intentions that you can't manage to meet in the time listed.

A public statement of "this is what we are working on for the rest of 2017" would be fine for me at the still early stage this coin is in.

Yeap , that's right too

ROADMAP:

1. Announcement
2. Launch ( Windows and Linux wallets )
3. Pool
4. Mac wallet
5. Exchanges
6. Contact merchants
7. Android Wallet
8. Integration into existing apps with tipbot
9. Approaching commerce site
10. Global acceptance of solariscoin in shops, services, etc

This is  the first  Solaris roadmap.  The plan for the Atumn 2017 is  masternodes implementation .  @MaxiCrypto you right I'm working alone and I think now is time to build solid team to work on it.  There is lots of decision to made about new  Solaris parameters .  I need somebody to help. @Vella85 Web wallet from @MystPhysX don't support stacking, I'm not sure about building Web wallet before we get new SolarisCoin.
Thanks for your support!

Don't forget about human-mining of XLR  on my faucet  http://brain-mines-xlr.club/
My users set many dislikes to the faucet, any idea what the reason can be?  I accept any ideas to improve it

I just don't like the new one because it's taking too long.
The other two are nice!

So masternodes are again in the plans? Last time I checked dev was saying it's too hard to do it? Latest post says the plan for the autumn of 2017 is masternodes, so which one is true?

To be honest my personal opinion is that masternodes can get some attention to the coin but are not what would make this coins stand up from the crowd. It's hard these days to do something unique, so may be reviving something that was forgotten and do it in a better way?

I am just brainstorming here, there was something called proof of transaction that FlutterCoin implemented long time ago but did not take it very far. It was a cool idea none the less. Perhaps we can brainstorm a bit and dev can see what is relatively simple to implement and what not.

Fedmahnkassad probably you missed that post:

Thanks guys for support!  The only way to implement masternodes to Solaris will be found raising.  Please be patient - we need some time to find the best  way to raise money for that . Probably  we need to choose new  asic resistant algorithm for new Solaris . We are in touch with someone familiar with masternodes but he is extremely busy now. Please stay tuned.

You right,  maybe together  we can  find better things that can give the coin better value.

Thanks guys for support!

If masternodes were to be implemented at some stage, would there need to be a new Solaris coin made from scratch, or would it be a fork of the current Solaris Coin? In either case, would there be an exchange of old coins for new coins prior to that happening?

As far I know  Hybrid PoW/PoS will be a problem for the newest  core base 12.2  masternodes . Just old masternodecoins works with Hybrid PoW/PoS like transfercoin.  That's why if we want masternodes in SolarisCoin we need to split chain and swap the coins.
