What is happening to them?

This is the swap account.
Every time anyone does a swap, you will see it move and "lose" the amount swapped and send it to an adress.
(in the screenshot someone swapped 154,9 xlr)

Dev has stated the unswapped coins will be burned after the swap periode.

I suggest reading from around page 90 somewhere.

Tomorrow we will start mining from the block 2 ( the first one is premine for a swap old Solaris with Nist5 algorithm to new Solaris with Xevan algorithm ).  During these 60 days you will be able to mine Solaris with Nist5 algorithm as well and swap for the new one with Xevan algo.

This is how all cryptocurrency transactions work.
In simple terms when you send coins your whole balance is sent across and the remainder is brought back to you.
