Hi Guys,
here we go with the new power supply!

It's simply a 12Volts "industrial" power supply, the very same used on LED strips or stepper motors on homebrew CNC/3D printers.
Found it on Ebay, and called the seller that -accidentally- is selling in my city. Today I managed to get one =D

Disclaimer:
the process requires a bit of hacking and -above all- lot of attention because you have high voltage at the AC input and high power on the DC output.
The model I purchased is a 12V 15A stabilized and switching power supply, very common on Ebay and Amazon (just look for 12V 15A, or 12V 20A, 12V 30A etc.).

Note that the PSU has 2 outputs/rails (probably 7.5A each), meaning that you shouldn't plug more than 3 Icarus each. WATCH CAREFULLY THE POLARITY!! =D


Here I've used a digital multimeter to measure the output voltage, and do a quick calibration with the small trimmer.


This is my little FPGA condo, with the PI, a powered hub and a tiny wireless USB adapter.

Shopping isn't finished yet, I've also ordered 5 Papst 512 F fans, I've seen many of them inside servers/racks and radio/TV equipment, more information to come!

My problem is fixed. All devices running on Intel Nuc Core i3 W8 Pro without problem. Linux isn't my friend, but still trying. What new cgminer? With config 3.1 not working.

How many Lancelots? Check in control panel coms and usb view show hidden devices. All hidden devices uninstall and restart. If you have multiple windows you can have duplicate ports in config. In one window work for me max 10 devices. Too check if isnt wrong -S COM3
10 above need -S \\.\COM30. Running 80 Lancelots.

I had a similar problem with com1 and I just skipped it and it would load the other ports fine. You could also check to see if it is running any better in cgminer 2.1.

You can also try changing the port number in Windows.  Under device manager, find the port, select Properties -> Port Settings -> Advanced -> Com Port Number

i have 2 Niggly gripes with the shipped goods.

1. The Legs are oddly shaped and some do not screw in correctly not a huge issue just a little annoying at assembly time
2. The Screws in the power adapter for clamping the cords down are ridiculously tight and very hard to undo with typical jewelers screwdrivers.

Other then that A++ Devices work great hashing away happily now i just need to fix my small issue of cable management XD

I received my 10 on Friday, and just got them built into a stack and going last night (been busy with other things).

They shipped when BlackArrow said they would (about 2 weeks after ordering), and I received tracking information.

I'm pretty happy with them.  The included USB cables look cheap, but seem to work fine.  They don't have the problem of disconnecting if I touch them, like some other truly cheap cables I have do.

I'm back again, with a short report about my boards with the V42, the new PSU and the 80mm fans that are doing the job of the (dead) stock ones.

- the new PSU is way better, the voltage is steady on 12 volts and I can clearly see a drop in the HW errors
- the fans are helping too, I must say that keeping temps low (and using the "pyramid" layout) helped a bit - but I have to give better cooling under the lowest ones

Results as of today: 6.20 units per minute at 1 difficulty, not as much as I expected but still interesting.

Well, it looks like I spoke a little too soon.  Turns out a couple of the boards have issues.

On ICA 3, one of the white LEDs (DONE2) does not light up, and it only hashes at half speed.

ICA 7 sometimes produces storms of HW errors, and inaccurate hashrate report, though its performance (accepted shares) seems unaffected.

The other 8 are running fine.

I guess I'll find out what warranty support is like.  I foolishly didn't really research it before buying.
