Since the last mail for shipping options had corrupted tables i decided to creat the table in google docs. I now sent another email with the link to that doc. Everyone with a target different from burnin should get that email and tell me what option he wants.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

So much supply all of a sudden

And you can bet there will be more and more people running to sell with every week that passes. We are still far from not getting the ROI, no need for such action.

The only thing happened is that Yifu promised to deliver in 9-10 weeks. Our first batch now is at 12 and a half week, but zefirs second batch already at 15 and a half weeks (doesnt care for us)

Now we have to try that the chips are shipped. Yifu isnt communicating so i tried to email everyone that is affiliated to avalon or might know more. And i asked US-Members in our group if they have a friend who is a lawyer and can look at our possibilities. One of them is asking a lawyer friend now.

Thats the situation. I hope it gets solved soon. I mean there were pictures of hundreds of thousands chips already, so they probably are there, only not shipped.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

the "i'm not dead thread."

Just got off the plane, expect lots of news tomorrow.

We should soon know what's happening with the chips.

Quote
While we have send out some chip orders, there is currently ~200k chips stuck in custom right at this moment for about 2 weeks now, this matter is very painful for us and our customers. As majority of the chip orders ( 70% ) totaling ~800k is made between early and mid-may resulting in a tight time frame to work with. We do have more chips coming in via different route next week which will ease this a little bit. (you can take this as chips will resume shipping by end of next week for now.)
We will take this time to fulfill a promise to announce the next generation chip 2 month ahead of schedule so potential buyers can make a decision. Soon we will be disabling the pre-order of Avalon Gen1 chips and only sell the remaining stock as we phase out old technology for a new 55nm, which goes on sale for immediate delivery at mid October 2013. This 55nm will retain the same physical dimension as the 110nm Gen1, only few pads were changed so getting them up and running requires very little change to existing design.
In addition, there is 2 more chip designs in the pipeline, we have decided to proceed developing Gen3 and Gen4 in parallel due to the long R&D time of low processor nodes, both of these will be a Full Custom ASIC design.

I really would like to know why these chips exist but we didnt get them. Was there a big buyer that wanted chips fast and got our chips so we have to wait now? I really would like to read an explaination.

I dont know how Yifu could make this good again. I mean when its a miner he could say, ok, one month waiting means 75% higher difficulty, i give you 75% refund. But this cant work for chips since the chips are only half of the cost of a miner. Even when yifu would refund all bitcoins for the chips it wouldnt work out to cover the loss.

I wonder if he offers a full refund and what my groupbuy members would say about this offer...

Moved Sebastian's questions from "Yifu's alive" thread here, so we can peacefully discuss them, especially the last (bolded) one.

Here are some facts:

- Avalon will (maybe) ship 200.000 chips in two weeks, 800.000 more later

- Unhappy Avalon team member photographed bunch of boxes with chips somewhere in Russia a month ago:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252233.msg2694806#msg2694806
Data embedded in the photos show that they were taken two weeks before their are published.

- Each big cardboard box contains 15.600 chips. There is evidence that 135 boxes are shipped in the same shipping batch:
http://www.track-shipments.com/track-trace.aspx?pref=AWB&awbno=87150508076
It is not clear if all 135 boxes arrived to Russia or only 24 of them. Total number of chips in these 135 boxes is 2.106.000, and since Avalon doesn't have any chips to ship at this moment none of these chips are coming our way.

- Probable impact of all these chips on difficulty is enormous, when finally deployed they may bring difficulty to the orbit:
http://thegenesisblock.com/latest-shipment-of-avalon-asics-could-increase-network-hashrate-by-500/

Nobody can put this mess in the formula and calculate what the real impact on *our* chips will be. If Yifu keeps his promise and delivers some chips in two weeks, those chips will be profitable. Maybe some more chips from other 800.000 promised will also be profitable, best calculations we've read says that all chips delivered in August and assembled in first half of September will be OK, depending ofc if they will be assembled by Burnin or some cheaper assembler, since price difference of that services comes into play now that profitability is reduced.

Also, since obviously all Sebastian batches will not come in the same time, position in witch batch determines whats the best interest of the group buyer.

Going back to Sebastian's original question: If by some miracle Yifu offers the full refund, what will be the vote to accept it or not? Will it be determined by voting within the each group buy? It's hard to give up after all this waiting, but it is also irrational to invest some BTC in the device knowing you'll never get at least the exact same amount of BTC back, not to mention some profit.

I personally would vote for a refund, but only if i knew i could get some of the assembly fees back as well.
I'd feel shitty asking for an assembler to refund all my money, they are innocent bystanders in all of this and have likely spent money on boards, equipment etc.

Burnin explicitly said he has spent money from his orders on parts and preparing to assembly so refunds are not possible. That is the factor, anyone already paid for assembly will certainly vote no on refund.

I only have a small stake in this (and in a late batch - #5), but my feeling at the moment would be **not** to vote for a refund. I've now booked and paid for burnin's services and I feel I should go through with this. Also, the bitburners are beautiful and it will be great to have the hardware hashing just for the lulz Grin! Both SebastianJu and Burnin have lived up to their side of the bargain so far (indeed they have both been heros Grin) and so it would seem unfair for me to do anything that would cause difficulty for them because of Avalon's shady deals/incompetence/bad luck or whatever the reality is. I made a decision to be part of this group and took the risk and so I'll live with the consequences. Just my feelings and the group(s) may feel otherwise.

Bitcoin can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.
