It sure can, like anything can happen. I think that it is very possible that it'll happen, in fact, i think the chances are 50/50. We've seen how bitcoin went on a bull run and gained like $2000+ in value in less than a year. We've seen how quickly that happens and how crazy things are when it does happen, it just doesn't seem like it'll go down. When the next bull market comes by i believe people will go crazy and keep on buying even though it is obvious that it's a bubble, and that'll defintiely result in a ridiculous bitcoin price.

If it does hit $3500, i'm selling because it just doesn't seem like a natural price to me. $3000 is okay, still slightly high though. I'd rather have a stable $2000 per coin than a constantly fluctuating $3500 per coin. It's not all about the price.

It is definitely possible, it's still a year and a bit away so i think that there will be a good chance that bitcoin will be able to achieve that sort of new heights, but there is also a very high chance that it won't.

Currently the bitcoin price has calmed down a bit from the $2600 ish all time high. Right now it's at $2100 which means an around $500 dump in a day, which is crazy as hell if you think about it. What i see happening is that the price may go lower and bounce up again after a month or so and start a new bull trend. If that bull trend is strong, then it's easy for us to hit $3500. I mean, nobody expected btc to go even above $2000 this year.

I'm not really keen on that possibility, because I've always longed for a much less volatile bitcoin price, and got excited about that possibility during 2015 and 2016, when we saw a gradual and consistent rise in the range of $200 to $750, but since the last weeks of 2016 this stability was broken and everything has been a dizzying race towards the moon.

It's likely to hit that price this year assuming we are able to resolve the current issues. My own viewpoint is to hold onto the coins for a higher price as this seems like a passable point that won't dip for a while if we do pass the 3K barrier. The rate of growth does make it tempting to lock in some more cash but the fear of having to re-enter at a higher price and losing makes that a pain.

We won't really know, basing on the fact that there would be a soft fork on August 1 for Bitcoin and there would be BIP 148 and Bitcoin legacy, there would be two chains and somehow you could really get in trouble if you made a transaction in a different chain or probably make a double spend or something. If we finally manage to operate larger blocks, and thus till some degree cope with current demand for block space, we'll be doing an exceptional job. In last few day on some exchanges bitcoin cross over 3000 then went down again, cuz in major exchanges there is still much resistance to go over 3k for one bitcoin. We won't really know, basing on the fact that there would be a soft fork on August 1 for Bitcoin and there would be BIP 148 and Bitcoin legacy, there would be two chains and somehow you could really get in trouble if you made a transaction in a different chain or probably make a double spend or something. We cannot really expect that to happen for the next year's price at $3000 - 3500, and if that demand actually rises but dumps is also happening due to affected by some rumors from speculations. Some investors decision making has not been doing well, they invest and pull out their capital immediately and I call them panic investors who invest rush while price is low, and panic sells after few days the price eventually increase to cope their invested capital. If that reality will still be present for next year 2018, it will be hard of that $3000 price to be reached and I believe that $2000 plus can be stable in that period of time.

I have to point out that Litecoin has been undervalued for quite a long time, where the SegWit hype made sure it did catch up in a decent manner. I am quite sure that if Litecoin did catch up beforehand, the effect of SegWit on its price would have been considerably less. Bitcoin on the other hand has been suffering from the endless scaling debates -- I am quite sure that if the hard fork takes place properly, that we will have no problems with breaking through the $3000 level, where we after that maintain it for a good while.

I must however point out that the Bitcoin price is already sitting on the higher side currently. It may very well turn out that the price will have a very hard time touching the $4000 level this year. I prefer the price to settle over $3000 after the hard fork, than having another bull run take place. 4000 is not an easy target TBH. Yes it can go further than that, but it will surely take time and probably not in this year.

Agreed. We don't need 2018, we can even touch it at the end of the month. I think we are not just past the psychological $3000 price now. No dumping happened, so next stop is $3500 or even more. Of course there will be dips along the way but it will not deter bitcoin price going up. Too high, especially if we take into consideration that the miners are planning yet another fork and that fork coming in November is a lot more dangerous than the bitcoin cash fork, so I do not think we are going to get anywhere close to the price you are speculating.

High probability to be this maybe in next week or two i didn't expect that we will hit so fast 9000, but this is sign that hitting 10000 will be piece of cake.
