I read somewhere that there are changes to the nodes...

Since Nimiq mining is ASIC resistant, normally it would.
But obviously, if there is a lot of people mining, it would be more difficult to find a block.

Try Brave browser. When I was testing Betanet, Brave generates 12-14 Khs on i5, compared to Chrome's 8-10 Khs.

It will not let you run two instances in the same browser, go ahead and try it  . You could try using two different browsers though.

Our ecosystem is Browser-based. You can go ahead and test it with Android and iOS.
