I have a good ping on 82.211.30.212 and a lot of orphans. I don't think it's an issue with the latency. Also I don't think it's an issue with the connections. I have 125 open connections at the moment.

PING 82.211.30.212 (82.211.30.212) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 82.211.30.212: icmp_seq=1 ttl=59 time=7.18 ms
64 bytes from 82.211.30.212: icmp_seq=2 ttl=59 time=6.12 ms
64 bytes from 82.211.30.212: icmp_seq=3 ttl=59 time=8.01 ms

OMG.. LISTEN .. not sure how or why or if it's normal..

on my ancient celeron 1.8ghz laptop...

i just got 2 blocks in a row.. this second.. of about 72yacs each.. immature atm..

the thing is.. that it hasn't even finished downloading the blockchain... yet.. it IS mining as cpu at 100 (although the laptop so shit. it goes to 50% when i move the mouse LOL)

need to comprehend this.. normal? .. also.. it only has 8 connections

on my main pc which has been mining all day.. i've found 1 block (not including orphans)

edit: now my laptop has found 3.. still immature..

They will likely get orphaned when the blockchain catches up

I'm in Germany, have a ping of 5-15 and I'm not getting many blocks anymore.
Got one 5 minutes ago after 1 hour of nothing.

That's because your cpu does other things also.  If you run a lot of background programs, browsers etc it takes away the CPU Cycle from hashing.

It doesn't matter how high or low your ping to X.X.X.X is!

It does matter how low your ping is the node that crafted the last block!

The seed node at 82.211.30.212 is as important/unimportant as any other node. Its main job is to deliver addresses of other nodes.

GPU or server farm?

Good ping. My ElCheapo custom built desktop still gets 1 block every 5 minutes and hardly any orphans, so it's not about raw power.

http://5.135.147.183/images/ping.png

As I said, it should be called Germancoin...  Roll Eyes

It is sad that physical location is so much more important that computing power or even connections. Next altcoin: please take notice...

I'm not in germany

That only supplies partial info. Where are you?

My latency is over 300ms and I have 7 orphans after 3 hour (no accepted ones). It seems that everybody that is mining with success has either a fast connection to Germany or is actually located there (and with there I mean in any part the Germans consider Germany, currently or historically  Wink)

perhaps this is a matter of the client software. I believe the version v0.4.0-nvc-7-gdaa3923-beta would produce less orphans

But I'm doing it on a mining rig. Only the GPUs are working, nothing else.

Can someone elaborate on why changing "scrypt(1024, 1, 1) to scrypt(N, 1, 1)." makes GPU mining impossible (at this time)?

pm for tech support

Cause current miners are working with 1024, and not N... btw this is not the only change in the algo
