It's number one because it's the original crypto used by exchanges. People think it's old news if it's not skyrocketing. It doesn't matter. A stable btc is good for altcoin traders as the point is to make money in Altcoinstalk anyway. Even if btc goes back up to 20 how much more can it grow beyond that. 30? 40? Who has that kind of pocket change to risk if it can drop by 50% in 2 weeks? If you want mainstream acceptance you need a stable btc.
And eth is what 400 something right now? Overtake btc? 😂 And it's not a competitor. They complement each other. One is the mother of all coins and the other a token. Both play an important role in crypto

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Bitcoin will be number 1 for the next few years, but not forever. If bitcoin becomes number 1 for ever, it's boring and life is flat. Surely there will be a surprise where altcoin is the leader.

who knows the future bitcon. maybe we can only predict it. but if I see there is still no other coin whose price is close to bitcoin. therefore it is still far away even impossible if bitcoin will be replaced with another coin .

i read ethereum doesnt serve the same purpose as bitcoin and was thus not to be compared to bitcoin as they arent in the same category so their values are each in a league of their own. ethereum is a fuel coin whereas bitcoin actually holds real value

In the future, btc can be surpassed by other currencies or even by a currency that has already been created. Many projects are created daily and posted here in the forum. And one of these projects can rather overcome btc.

I think it's worth the wait, and do not make hasty conclusions. Because all systems are being improved. And it is unlikely that bitcoin will be lower. Competition always involves qualitative changes. So we'll see.

I thought for sure it would take until the end of 2018 but it looks like this summer ethereum might pass it up. With the turmoil around BTC potential splitting, it might be very soon. IMO this is healthy, we will always value bitcoin for being the one that started it all, but it's time for a more dynamic and adaptable currency to take the lead.
Bitcoin can be replaced anytime since there are a lot of people who are also investing on altcoins and other cryptocurrency, if there will be a new coin that will become the center of attraction of every investors then we can really say goodbye to bitcoins. |

I dont think so. Bitcoin is the foundation of cryptocurrencies, so it will be difficult for it to be surpassed. Its true that ethereum is quickly rising, but so is bitcoin. Every alt coin price is based on bitcoin, so if this will really happen, i think it will be in the far future.

That exactly true or might happen in the future. We all know that bitcoin's value is volatile, some days high, some days low. But what if one day can turn bitcoin into 0.002$ only? Bitcoin, will not be a number one currency in the whole world. There's so many years will passed. But that is not sure, because the permanently thing in this world is "CHANGE" many events will happen on years from now

I think you came to this assumption because of recent growth in ethereum . But its in one direction its rising once it starts to fall like happened with bitcoin almost near 350 $ to 400$ last year . Could you think the same happens with ether it will survive or again it takes launch like bitcoin ETH is beginning to worry me, it's growth has been very quick & now has to be respected. I'm thinking I might need to invest a little just in case it moons, maybe $1000

I disagree. Bitcoin is number one, was number one, and will always be number one. This is certain. The last time I checked the talks around the town here Bitcoin is still considered cryptocurrency and cryptocurrency is perceived as Bitcoin. This may be wrong but with the equation, Bitcoin is always several steps ahead of Ethereum and other altcoins. When someone new knows about crypto, it would be Bitcoin and no other that he or she will buy first.
Actually there are many people still want to keep the ranking of Bitcoin in cryptocurrency world. Almost the investor believe Bitcoin is the best coin, it is better than other cryptocurrency. However, the fact can not lie us. Bitcoin is an old coin and its technology is older than new altcoins as Ethereum, Ripple many much. |

I agree with the fundamental point - Bitcoin is the legacy brand and will always be around, and part of its success is that it is, as far as the wider public goes, what people think of when they think "cryptocurrency". That said, in my mind ETH's relationship to ICOs creates a situation where owning it is often a prerequisite to involving oneself with the most explosive thing happening in the cryptosphere right now (and in the foreseeable future), which means that it will continue to have an immediate reason for it to be purchased. I think this means that ETH has a more logical reason for ultimately being the more dominant coin. This doesn't mean that it'll happen, or that Bitcoin will somehow fade away entirely even if it does, its just that I think there are arguably more reasons why ETH should be appraised as more valuable than bitcoin.

Yes, Bitcoin is also my number one for long; It's been a year since I started working on it and it is still the best coin I've ever have. There's no doubt that it will strive for more and will continue to be number one, not just for me but to all Bitcoin users.

I believe that bitcoin will be always number one. It is well known around the world and i think this is the main crypto currency. It is better among the other currency, it is always used by investors and users. It would be difficult to surpass this cryptocurrency.

no one xan replace bitcoin as founding father.and untill now all altcoin still refer to bitcoin price.when btc down altcoin down.and like now when btc strong again,all altcoin follow it.
Bitcoin becomes the standard price of all cryptocurrencies so the use of bitcoin is always the greatest, it takes hard work of other coins to replace bitcoin and I'm sure it took at least 5 years. |
