OK, i removed a previously installed bluetooth device with serial port...

right now, ls -l /dev/cs.*  only shows the below.

crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   18,   7 Mar  7 02:24 /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   18,   3 Mar  7 02:24 /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Modem
crw-rw-rw-  1 root  wheel   18,  11 Mar  7 10:39 /dev/cu.usbmodemfd1421

started CG Miner but still getting this:

[2014-03-07 10:38:17] gridseed detect (253:6) failed to initialise (incorrect device?)
[2014-03-07 10:38:17] gridseed detect (253:6) failed to initialise (incorrect device?)
(5s):0.000 (avg):0.000h/s | A:0  R:0  HW:0  WU:0.0/m
[2014-03-07 10:38:23] gridseed detect (253:6) failed to initialise (incorrect device?)
Any luck with the CPU Miner?

I modified the driver for cgminer based on the reports on this version, the standard gridseed code doesn't compile on Mac OS so it's slightly modified by me

Edit: I just got a hardware reset message. Now testing at 650... Sad
Did it start mining for a while before that?

My apologies, I was talking about my Linux install. I am still working and haven't had a chance to try out the new MacMiner release. With these devices being so new, and their being SO many questions about them, I was just trying to be complete with my info for anyone else having that problem. Smiley

OK, i think we are getting some where..

on gridseed5, CPU Miner... after setting up manual flag - --freq=600 --gc3355=/dev/cu.usbmodemfd1421

i am getting this:

Dispatching new work for GC3355 LTC Core ....

And i can see the Accepted: 3 of 3 100% !!!

ps: the KH/s is showing 0.00KH

odd that you have accepts but 0KH! Does the pool website show the work yet? any more detail in the log?

Did you run the kextunload command since your last restart the last time you ran cgminer?

Hey, i am actually still on the legacy http://pool.fabulouspanda.co.uk:9327 pool, how do i find the work there?

The CPU Miner log window is not allowing me to copy/paste the log.

Hmmm i don't remember, but i better restart everything and try the cgminer again.

The 0 kH/s is a known issue of CPUminer for the Infinity Mini. FWIW, I don't think the reported speed in CGminer is accurate either.

Oooh sounds like it's working then! Thanks guys!

To check your work go here
http://pool.fabulouspanda.co.uk:9327/static/graphs.html?Day

and look for your LTC address. I'm hoping
LfTBLS7pycKpxkVu5XYYhAxnVqwSHUabRX

is you?

Yeah, CPU miner is definitely working now. And LfTBLS7pycKpxkVu5XYYhAxnVqwSHUabRX is me  ...   Smiley

Trying to get cgminer to work now. I suspect it has to be the manual flag, will try to dig more.

I wasn't able to duplicate ehwwong's success with CPUminer, and CGminer returned the same "failed to initialise (incorrect device?)" error he saw.

I suspect my CPUminer issue is related to my virtual machine Linux installation still claiming the device, so don't make too much of that. I'll fiddle with it some more. Smiley

It seems that CGMiner cannot detect the gridseed miner... is there anyway to force detection like CPU Miner where i can tell it to look under /dev/cu.usbmodemfd1421 ?

Experiment with manual flag freq from 600 ~ 800 yields the same result..

--gridseed-options=baud=115200,freq=600,chips=5,modules=1,usefifo=0,btc=16 --hotplug=0

Brandon,

Did you setup the manual flag - --freq=600 --gc3355=/dev/cu.usbmodemfdxxxx  ?

@ ehwwong I'd be interested to know whether the cgminer works with the FTDI drivers installed and not unloaded but I suspect the problem is my fix to the driver not working properly so I'll have to look in to that some more. It's not that it doesn't see the device, it is showing up there, it's just not working  Sad

Did you run CPU successfully before or after unloading the drivers and had you installed the FTDI driver from here:
http://ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
?

@BrandonMcPherson I suspect the issue with CPU miner is a driver issue more likely than a VM issue if it's showing up to any extent in the cgminer log. What driver setup were you using, what manual flags and what does the CPU miner output say?

Hi,

In fact CPU Miner runs before and after unloading the drivers.. weird? Is there any command i can check that the VCP driver is still loaded? Or maybe the kexunload did not work correctly on my iMAC?

Yes, i install it from http://ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

You want me to just reload the VCP driver again?

My 2 cents:

There are Apple FTDI drivers and then there are drivers from ftdichip.com. In my experience the Apple drivers do not work. You may need to shuffle them manually, even after installing the drivers from ftdichip.com:

Code:
sudo kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBFTDI
sudo kextload -b com.FTDI.driver.FTDIUSBSerialDriver

Yes please, the commands nwoolls kindly just posted should do it or if it's not loading back up properly a restart. I suppose they could have mixed old and new code in the cpuminer to support either driver setup…

I think the Apple FTDI driver is pretty useless but it hasn't caused a conflict with anything I've tested with bfgminer, that may be the problem here though…

I'm pretty sure for the cpuminer on it's own you must use
--gc3355=/dev/cu.yourdevice

but if you get cgminer running first you can start with just
--dual

FWIW, i am getting 393 KH/s harsh rate running at freq-800 with CPU Miner.

I will meddle more with cgminer when i have time later in the day.

Thanks for everything!

I'm pretty pleased that much is working at least, if I had one I'd only be using it for scrypt mining as it's so much more power efficient.

Thanks for testing it all out for us!

@Anonymailer,

While the pleasure is mine man, you helped me get this up and running! Otherwise, this would be an expensive mistake.. LOL

BTW, cgminer still insist not to work. After unload/load the FTDI driver from nwolls it didn't make any difference.

Still getting the same error.

Please try this version which I've compiled using gridseed's original code forced to compile despite errors rather than with an attempted fix by me:
http://downloads.fabulouspanda.co.uk/MacMiner-gridseed6.zip

for cgminer your flags should be like this:
--gridseed-options=baud=115200,freq=600,chips=5,modules=1,usefifo=0,btc=16 --hotplug=0

and you need to start it before you start CPU Miner
