Yes. The transactions are a bit slow and expensive. But who says that can't be fixed? That's exactly what bitcoin's developers are for.

Also, the slow and expensive transaction fees should be a good sign because it can be caused by more and more bitcoiners using the system. And we ain't even reached mass adoption yet! Imagine what the future prices would be. You don't need to be a good businessman or a good investor to realize this.

I would like to invest some money in bitcoin, I don't use that money and I don't need it for the next 2/3 years.
I thought I found in bitcoin the perfect way to invest. BUT when I see the fees applied I don't see how the bitcoin will become mainstream! The fees are around 1mBTC which is approximatively 3$. Therefore what is the point of bitcoin?

The only thing I see : big amount transaction

But bitcoin won't be the money you use to buy your sandwich with those fees!

I saw a post saying: yeah burger king is willing to accept bitcoin in russia. Hopefully mcdonald will follow ! But why would someone pay 3$ fee therefore a third of his burger king menu in fee?

Will segwit may lower the fees?

If you are going to invest in bitcoin for a better to 2-3 years then why worry for the fees? I guess by that time bitcoin transaction fee's will be fix already. Currently, its not well suited for micro payments, but solutions are already on the way that you don't need to worry about it the future. And its not to late to invest still because the price will go up in 2-3 years time.

The regular fees depends on how busy the network is an is never stable, it's between 0.0001 and 0.0005 and can be much lower than that, currently with the network less congested it has already gone down.
Frankly, if there is something that stopping you from investing it should be the volatility or fearing a fundamental change in bitcoin, a $1 fee per tx, although high, isn't that critical...

i think if you wanna invest is good for the next 4 years in future, because each 4 years bitcoin price is high like now and on 2013
so if bitcoin very expensive i think no problem about fee, because you have been profitable

For now,using bitcoin for everyday need is not convenient indeed,we just treat it like digital gold
But if you wait for couple of years,i think it will be profitable in the future if you invest now
And problem with fees and transaction time is going to be fixed

Even tho Bitcoin is lagging behind as a day-to-day currency it won't be long before everyone is using Bitcoin. Big and small businesses alike. The good thing is that other cryptocurrencies are creating technological leaps that bitcoin can adopt. Make no mistake, bitcoin will be the main currency of the future. Treat it as an investment rather than a currency. It's not like you can incorporate it as an everyday tool just yet. Wait 1-2 years for that.

There are things coming up that should alleviate the pressure of the high fees, if your really have no need for your money for 2/3 years then by that time bitcoin will be in a much better place when you start to use your bitcoin again.

the only thing that keeps me investing in BitCoin is that this nowadays technology development is amazing. and yeah there will be nothing like terminator in the future. so we will safe while my investment getting bigger.

It is true that bitcoin has high transaction fees but from my knowledge ,it is only because of its price rise. And as far the transaction fee for small transactions is concerned i guess we would have to wait for the years to come for using bitcoin for buying day-to-day stuff like "burger king sandwich" ,because as of know everyone would suggest to use bitcoin for big transactions,and let bitcoin blend with the lives of people even more and hope for the best.

Bitcoin is actually more suited to be an investment rather than a day to day currency. I still suggest you to buy some and hold them instead of using them, and treat them as 'gold'.

If services like fast food restaurants decides to use Bitcoin as a payment method, maybe they can come out with a method that allows for no fees between accounts, but this is just a suggestion.

Existing methods including Bitcoinpay, but it still charges a fee of 0.8%, not completely free.

Actually the charges fee is okay for me though but rather than that, I can say bitcoin is really suit for an investment. Because as we all know the value of it is rising everyday. Not even lowering a single time and with that I can say confidently that this one is a good investment to start and to hold on.  It can make me rich, so i treat them like a diamonds not just like gold.

Investing to bitcoin is not just buying and holding on it.  Investing to bitcoin means you believe in it and you see good potential to it.  I myself are investing on bitcoin so I see good potential in it.  Now, we can easily see its benefits and it helped us move funds from one person to another.  We also see that its price will continue to rise as more and more people is going to bitcoin.  Im even trying to convince my offshore clients to pay me in bitcoin so they can save on remittance charges.  I can keep bitcoin and since we are not yet in a full adoption then we still need to make an exchange from time to time for a fiat money.  3-4 years from now bitcoin value will be so high for more and more people are using it already.  Always bear in mind of the law of supply and demand.  Demand for bitcoin is increasing everyday while the supply is limited.  Can you see  now where bitcoin is going?  Keep on investing as you can while demand is still not that high.

Same as you, Trust in this cryptocurrencies and the hope for bitcoin become more stronger are the reasons that keeps me from investing in bitcoin. When i know the first time about bitcoin, The price was around 300-400$, I didn't except that one day bitcoin will more valuable and achieve the 2500$ and maybe in the end of this year will cross the barrier of 3k $.

The big thing that everyone in the community right now is hoping for is that the miners are going to come to some sort of conclusion, be it on Aug 1 or be it whenever to be able to fix the present problem which is going to be the insane amount of fees that everyone is paying right now. It's bound to be fixed at some point because people just aren't going to use nor be introduced to BTC at the moment because of the fact that the fees kind of heed the currency useless.

I'm not going to say it's a waste, but people aren't going to use the currency unless it's incentivized in some way personally for them. That's just how the world works and how it's going to continue to work, you can't stop that out of people.
