Hello!

I've got a question about how you are pulling data. I am writing an IRC bot plugin that I want to pull data.

So far so good but then I encountered an issue with coins like Lottocoin and Volt: the random block rewards. I know I would either have to scan the blockchain myself on these, or if possible pull the data from a block explorer. It would be easy to calculate how many coins are in existence with a coin that has usual block rewards with block halvings, but this is troublesome.

I've tried to see if block explorers like Lottocoin's has an API I can query, but I haven't had any luck. Can you please tell me how you are obtaining your "Total Supply" values on coins with random block rewards?

Dude, do you understand a concept of free market? It doesn't matter which exchange he chosen.

What does that even have to do with anything? you probably got something wrong there.

Do you calculate Bitcoin market cap by multiplying current exchange rate by total mined amount of Bitcoins? Please calculate Ripple market cap the same way:
market cap = [exchange rate] * [amount of coins sold, given away by their monopoly holding company]
https://www.ripplelabs.com/xrp-distribution/
I disagree, as compared to Bitcoin where only mined coins can be spent, ALL XRP can be spent any time (the only thing that is preventing this is an implicit promise of RippleLabs). Also the 20 billion XRP that are awarded to the founders are not tracked by this site (if you check the numbers, they add up to 80 billion).

Don't you agree, that Ripple market cap currently shown looks ridiculous (it's especially evident if you check their 24h volume)? If so, do you have a better idea for calculating their market cap?

Please add AstroCoin.

I believe it will be a significant coin in the near future, along the lines of 42 coin maybe.

AstroCoin is currently listed on CoinedUp.

The main website is http://astrocoin.biz

The 24 hour volume is ridiculous too, currently XRP is used in over 200 individual markets within Ripple...

Anyways, market cap is a defined measure - just look at the recent news about Dropbox, where 5(?)% were bought for 1 billion USD and then the company is "worth" 20 billion USD.

I posted ideas to seperate coins that are stable/deflationary in float and coins that are still inflating before, the only thing that was implemented was the "non-mineable" switch.

You could of course suggest to only consider coins that were moved in the last x years for example to have an idea of only the "active" part of the currency etc. All in all this is not any more a "market cap" however but a different measurement.

Added Astrocoin and re-listed Bitgem.

As for Klondike and Noble, I'm holding off until the exchange that they're traded on, coinmarket.io gets a little more reputation.  Looking at the thread, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422153.msg4592671#msg4592671  it seems they are less than 10 days old.

Hi,
Mooncoin was added on Cryptsy, it has volume $ 2,742,757, look here http://cryptoranking.com/. Your site shows only $ 614,456.

Mooncoin now pulls data from Cryptsy.

Hi, new BitGem block explorer http://bitgem.dyndns.org:2750/chain/Bitgem

Thanks, updated!

I've tried to see if block explorers like Lottocoin's has an API I can query, but I haven't had any luck. Can you please tell me how you are obtaining your "Total Supply" values on coins with random block rewards?

Lottocoin I get from the block explorer: http://lottocoin.info/chain/lottocoin/q/totalbc

Hi Gliss,

If you wouldn't mind pointing the HBN explorer to 162.217.249.198:1080  Or http://explorer.hobonickels.info/

Thank you!

HBN now points to 162.217.249.198:1080,  the other seems down?  http://explorer.hobonickels.info/

EDIT: TIPS IS NOW ON CRYPTSY SO PLEASE ADD IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/147

I sympathize with your argument, but I agree with Sukrim.  Since RippleLabs can trade their share at any time, that should contribute towards the market cap.
