Hi @here, since yesterday we've seen to strange issues on the NewYorkCoin network.
Since (most probably) ProHashing re-enabled their mining pool towards our network, after updating their coin daemon to v1.3.0, it seems like we are suffering from network segmentation.
Probably due to the fact that when they started mining, their own coin daemon did not have connections to older nodes (v1.3 rejects nodes older than 1.2.0.x), they didnt broadcast to those older nodes.
Also miners on the older nodes didnt connect back to the 'new network' via an intermediate 1.2.0.x.
The issues, as far as we've seen, fix themselves in time, as nodes reconnect to other nodes all time. This means that they also sync up, doing a reorganize.
It seems the more 1.3 nodes that came into being and the fewer 1.2 nodes available the pre 1.2 nodes monopolize the connections to the remaining 1.2 nodes.

Bottom line: We need everybody to migrate to v1.3.0 ASAP!

The network problems we are encountering now are due to mining pools not updating to the latest code. We will continue to see problems with the network until all miners and pools have updated their daemons.

This update is extremely important as the older daemons are not secure and are susceptible to a variety of timewarp attacks that could lead theft or worse.

If you are a miner/pool operator please update your daemon as soon as possible to ensure the network is secure and stable for years to come.

For those experiencing issues with mining and pools, we are working diligently to solve the issues and get all wallets on the same page. The codebase for 1.3 will find and connect with all nodes, new and old, but for some reason it is giving preference to the newer code base nodes. I am currently reviewing the old and the new codebases to determine the root cause of the connection issues.

For those using the current issues to push their preference in mining pools, please keep in mind that we are all in this together and as long as no single pool controls more than 50% of the hashrate we are good to go. Please have patience while we work through these issues. Also keep in mind that Hobbyist has graciously offered his pool service to help us work through these issues which is why his pool is bearing the brunt of the issues and orphans. The issues we are facing now did not present themselves while we were testing on the testnet.

We are close to having a resolution, please bear with us as we work to stop this madness!
