It's only promising if it is unique than the others and are not making exaggerated claims. If it is not one of those that I mentioned then don't invest in it. But still make a critical assessment of yours just to be sure.

There are still some decent ICOs out there. I follow certain criteria to sift through the crap and of course, take huge risks investing but it usually worth it.

Also participating in bounty might minimize your risks

Investing in ico is really promising. Its a good way to earn money. Problem is how to select a good ico. We need to do more research on ico and select one and again need to read more about that selected one. (concept, background, dev). ICO is as profitable as water! You get water for free and re-package to sell at premium in relation to your brand. ICO is profitable in the same manner! The quality ICO however will stand the test of time and be useful in real life!

ICO's are a great way to invest your money, but they are increasignly being used by other people to scam off others or make short term profits, without serious intentions about deliving something of value. We're seeing many wordpress sites that simple have some jargon put up, a timer and an ether contract address, that's the norm nowadays unfortunately, and I think it will get so much more worse the more time passes. At some point we'll be seeing this entire thing being regulated, and then maybe things will calm down and come back to normal, because fact is that the current environment is not sustainable and many will losse a lot of money in this. Hope it won't materialize but it's very, very likely.

The thing is we cannot ensure that it's a good project until it has delivered based on their road map and white paper.
When we are investing we are just trusting our money on the team and if they will do their job and there is a progress we are lucky because the assets or tokens we are holding will increase its value, that's how the game is played, there still a risk so make sure you accept all the possible outcome.

I am a person that gains profit from investing in ICOs but now I'm having second thoughts. I know some ICOs are potential scam so I am really picky to where I put my money.
Anyway, considering with what happened to Ethereum price and with the nearing Aigist 1, do you guys think that it will still be profitable to invest on ICOs mostly on ERC20 tokens and those accepting btc payments?

I am still investing to many ICO. I am still not yet experienced scam when investing in ICO. I always researching to the project before I will make investment. Knowledge about the project is very important for us to know whether the project is promising or not.

Investing ICO is risky more than profitable, you should due diligence the team's background. And you guys should be careful on ICO projects. You know the SEC is strict on ICOs, not easy to make huge money from ICOs.

If you're expecting to gain from every ICO that is out there, that won't happen. As you said most of the ICO's out there right now are useless, they don't offer anything significant and that's why they are valued eventually to zero. But that's up to you to know before you invest your money in it. You can read the project's whitepaper and talk with the community of even founders about it, so there is no excuse of getting scammed. Of course you can't foresee everything (see what happened with Tezos, who would have thought that), but you can evaluate a project carefully enough to be at least somewhat more sure that it won't scam you of your hard earned money, I guess it's a learning curve and eventually people will understand how it works.

Yes investing in ICOs still promising , especially if the project is solid and clear, and having good concept and detailed roadmap and whitpapers. There is so many people generating good profit from investing in such ICOs weekly almost.

My answer would be yes of course. But before investing in any ICO projects, do ensure that you look out for the key factors, especially those well equipped with a good strong project team will produce greater success rate in their ICO. Therefore I will usually google search more information about the team, check out all of their social networking accounts to assess on their relevant knowledge and whether they have large network of related connections.  Followed by the presentation of their products in their functional website and not forgetting the white paper should provides a detailed breakdown and clear explanation of the entire project.

yeah, agree, I'm optimistic, I think there are still many promising ICOs and not scam. but must remain vigilant and always cautious.

Investing on ICO is still promising especially if that ICO is a success, ICOs token is also good investment for long terms goals, it can make your investment double or even multiple times.
