The website just updated to show the Twitter announcements so let's hope they are close to getting it back online.

This makes the most sense.

A lot of the new guys doing trading on finex or stamp don't have much respect for btc-e.  But that's where all of the old whales live. . .

For sure, I've been using it since 2013 which feels like a hundred years in crypto. Always preferred it over Gox and always thought Karpelès played things way too loose and fast over there, he missed way too many opportunities to be taken seriously, could never understand why people used it at all.

I noticed that too right now ~ this should give people more confidence as if BTC-E was to run with people's funds, they would have left completely.

I am 90% certain that this has to do with a potential hack. It doesn't necessarily has to mean that funds have been stolen, but still, user information might have been compromised.

More updates BTC-E, please!!!

This is way too much bad news in the Cryptocurrency sector. Its one piece of bad news followed by another for the last few weeks. Hopefully things get better.  #Regulation

Yeah, you're right. The digital currency industry doesn't need anymore bad news!

Site showing twitter page is good. Means someone is owning responsibility and not just running away. Seems positive.

You would think that if they linked the twitter feed on the page, they would at least give a status update on twitter. Their communication with the users is anything but good.

it's always been terrible. that's one of their trademarks. they like to keep users guessing but they do seem to give russian speakers some more slack.

All exchanges are not always good with communication. In fact btc-e communicating well would make me more suspicious of a hack  Cheesy  Cheesy

According to cointelegraph (google search, news website), 66,000 bitcoin (169 million) was moved out of cold storage before it went offline. I'm not sure what to make of it

or maybe that article relates to the bitmixer guy? how long has bitmixer been operating for?

I think it's likely both.  4 billion is a huge amount of money even in 2017 to launder thru crypto.

they're maybe basing that on current valuations, but 4 billion over 6 years isn't that vast if they're including alt to alt volume. a lot of that 4 billion might have just churned through the exchange. if you include churn poloniex must have turned over tens of billions.

... this combined with the fact there is no twitter update since yesterday evening...

I really hope I'm wrong and there's no relation between one and the other  Sad

LE
Not feeling very comfortable as yesterday like just about 30 mins before the 502 I was sending a SEPA to fund some fiat into my account.
And now I have just paid 75 euros fee for a request for cancellation for the transaction. Just hope it works and manage return the fiat back to the bank.

Whois has the domain as first being registered in 2013. Can't seem to find references to it in 2011 either.
