According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

The developer Berzerk is currently seeking other developers to assist in the project. As of now he is doing light maintenance as needed. Hopefully the committee and new devs will be up and running soon.
Come on such a coin with such history and great name should not be left like this piece of ancient crud. Coin swap it to a better code base with a dev funding mechanism built in so we can afford more than hobbyist coders playing around with a few lines here and there in their spare time. Group funds a pot of WDC and entice some decent coders that are willing to put some effort in. It shows these coins were distributed properly because no whales hold enough to have incentive to update them to something of interest to the community. wdc dgc quark cbx all the 2013 big hitters are reduced to dust .... I think most serious investors know that the success is impossible without a complete reform of the WDC blockchain. While in the community will reached an agreement about it, this coin will remain in the dust. Just take a look at the website https://coinmarketcap.com/ and think about why some coins are rising in price, while others coins no interesting for investors. Most are raising on hot air and nothingness. So anyway.... who are the WDC whales here if any? Problem is with these old POW coins they were distributed very wide and fairly. However that means there are no whales with enough of them to push the development side. step 1 Form a huge pot of WDC held by the most trustable person here. Step 2 Reach out to some known and proven developers and get them on board with that pot of WDC as reward for a finished and continued support of the project. Stop waiting around for devs that dumped out their coins years ago and don't give a toss about leaving their supporters out to dry. Some use some script to PM everyone on every WDC thread that ever commented. Get them here get the donations for the revamp. I have about 12k of this junk which was costly back at the peak. I'll throw 1/3 in if everyone does the same you will soon have a nice pot to start looking for smart devs who can see just how easy it is to revive these famous giants from the past. In the new code base you NEED development funding mechanism and voting mechanism for continued success. The name alone is worth developing on.

I too would donate to a developer with a good reputation who is willing to work on the worldcoin project. Crowdfunding is a great idea. It has been brought up on the worldcoin forum before. But who can we trust to hold the wdc pot that will be donated?

without a large funding pot no devs are coming here.
I would say 5% of total minting with an aim to further code in a funding mechanism for future development efforts.
If there are WDC whales which i expect there are perhaps a few we will need them to donate
I'm shocked real developers are not accumulating these old fairly mined POW giants of old at these pathetic prices and planning a big come back for them all. Seems easy money to me.
Let's find the latest codebase that has all the things we need , funding mechanism, voting, anon, incentives to accumulate and hold etc and fork and coin swap over.
I see the smallest of small projects able to manage coins swaps and yet the giants of old are languishing on these old redundant ancient codebases that are no longer practical no interesting to new investors.
I would suggest employing with the 5% someone who can get things done.
wdc, quark, digi, mec all those giants look ripe for revival. I though wouldn't buy more of most of these unless I saw some half interesting roadmap ahead. Qrk are trying something but SLOW is not the word, Mec is trying something again slow burner. WDC is doing nothing as far as i can tell at all.
Although i see some activity on the thread here with people willing to help so all is not lost.
Time though is running out it will only get harder and harder to stage a good comeback unless you manage to entice a really good dev team. I guess a huge dev pot could be a good incentive to bring on a nice team.
I do think world coin is one of the best names around.

If there are smart developers .. Just accumulate now for a few weeks. Then take over the project and make development and a solid roadmap .. And they will have their development fund with the rise in value of the price .. simply!

Hallo Dev, I think this is a very profitable project. But why not in describe anyone who joined the team. Maybe from there it can attract investors to consider your project. But I did not find it.

for everyone who want to get working WDC wallet I prepared this: maybe it can help to get started with this coin for WDC newcomers. Official latest wallet installation file is still using installation server which is almost everytime offline. I hope it will help until the official newly formed dev team will be operational and fix broken installation.

and another issue, older stable QT 0.8.6.2 wallet is not able to handle wallet.dat files created in newer WBC wallets. It crashes with SALVAGE FAILED error. So you only can use this old one for wallets created in 0.8.6.2 and older. here is error: https://imgur.com/Toggw6cToday I found out that every backup I have and my friend have his too, is not recognized in old QT wallet. There is also something with invalid - not recognized db structure in db log. WBC probably uses a bit different structure than old QT version. And it is not possible that wallets are corrupted. I am sure they are not. Newly generated wallet in latest WBC copied back to QT 0.8.6.2 is doing the same. After taking it back to WBC it is working OK. So there is something what was designed to do with older wallets to revoke access to users coins or it is only programming mistake which was not discovered during the first releases of WBC (the time of step from QT to WBC). I really advice to stop using newly installed wallets with dat backups until there will not be fully functional redesigned and working release with an announcement from devs. If you have functional wallet installed before (during the time the WBC installation was working well) you can use it. Otherwise avoid it!
