Can anyone answer me? how long are copies of our data retained on their platform?

You can stop sharing and the data will be destroyed. You decide what you want to share and for how long.

this is huge! so the user has full control!!

I don't think you can delete the data, you can encrypt them, so nobody else can access it. It's probably similar to privacy settings in any social media, there are stuff that can be see only to you.

Can anyone answer me? how long are copies of our data retained on their platform?

If it is stored on a blockchain (which i think it is), that would mean it can never be deleted. But it would be encrypted and possible stored (in pieces) over multiple nodes, so it should be safe

But if I will want to delete my data? How I can do this?

You can't, but you can encrypt it so that no one but you can access it. Kinda like writing it on a piece of paper and burying it somewhere only you know

It is encrypted by default, isn't it? And if we sell some data I guess the data gets pulled from the chain decrypted and then transferred to the buyer.

I can live with that. for me it just depends what my data will cost an information aggregator like google.
Everyone should encrypt their own data and keep it in secure storage. Be responsible

Yes exactly. I wonder however what someone could do with the data he bought, like if someone sells his data to one person specifically, does he transfer the rights to that data so that the buyer can spread that info without repercussion? Maybe the buyer has to sign a clause stating that spreading the info leads to permanent banning, heavy fines and legal persecution, like when a doctor would spread sensitive info about his patients

Isn't it automaticly encrypted when you load it to the datum network?

That's a very good point. Companies like Google wouldn't resell data because they want to know more than the rest but if some shady "information broker" buys data relatively cheap they could try to resell it; especially if prices for data fluctuate.

Yes the aim of datum is to monetize data, so I think users will be open to that. And if datum become big, I think our personal data can be really expensive when I see how the data market is big.

is datum going to integrate  with current major social media?

this would be the only thing that makes sence. i never questioned that before but IF NOT IT WOULD BE AN ISSUE. nobody is interested in making accounts at plattforms nobody uses to sell data there. that would only be a low payed active income.
imo datum is only useful if it is a passive income. in that case it is not that nessecery how big it is if it is there at least.

The mockup screenshot on the first page show Facebook, Twitter, Healthkit and Nest. If you have registered for Datum's Gleam campaign then you may know that Gleam can interact with your social media accounts if you accept the connection. Likewise Datum can be integrated.

Official they will probably use be allowed to use your data for their own research etc and not to sell it, but honestly, who will control this? No one probably and you will also never know who will buy your data from whom as you at the moment also don't know who will buy your data from Facebook or Google or whoever.

If they really manage to bring someone famous to the project, this will be a great news. We all know the team is the most important part of the project and news like that already proved to be profitable in the future.

When I understood it right, it will not be safed on the blockchain btw on a smart contract. Dont know if they will have central servers. Maybe not the best way from our view, but than at least it would be easy to delete our data.
