If my compromised machine is used to steal my bch then would not the bch block explorer be able show us exactly when my funds are stolen? And to where??? That alone would be interesting..
Obviously? That is most often not useful though. 3 imported old now empty multibitHD seed into electrum cash 4 I tried both BIP39 and BIP145 with BIP39 5 ..using both m'/44'/0'/0'/ & m'/145'/0'/0'/ (not sure which is correct)
There's your mistake. If the seed implementation isn't compatible, or you specify the wrong derivation path, you will get completely different addresses. Here is the solution that you're looking for: Or you have to manually or otherwise extract the private keys from your MultiBit HD wallet/seed... Automated (but technical) method requiring use of python scripts: https://github.com/HardCorePawn/multibit_recoveryManual method: - Create offline version of https://iancoleman.github.io/bip39/- Put in your MultiBit HD seed - Set Derivation Path -> BIP32 - Set Client = "MultiBit HD" - Copy all the address/private keys (click show more until you are sure you have more than all the addresses you ever used) - Set Client = "Custom" -> Set Derivation Path = m/0'/1 - Copy all the change addresses/private keys (click show more until you are sure you have more than all the addresses you ever used) Once you have all your private keys: - In Electrum -> New/Restore -> Standard Wallet -> Create a new seed - Once wallet is created, "Wallet -> Private Keys -> Sweep" - Paste in all the private keys you got from automated or manual method You should now have all your coins in an Electrum HD Wallet. as a last resort I can go back into multibitHD and modify it to dump the keys if the empty old private keys will work to open bch?
Yes, you can dump priv keys and import into Bitcoin ABC. Opening multibitHD is no longer needed, you can use a tool (as described above). Thank you Lauda ^^ Thanks! I actually figured it out just now using another method see below. I had the wrong path for old multibithd seeds. They must be done BIP39, possibly without encryption; using derivation path m'/0' multibit documentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-KcY6KUVnY&feature=youtu.bethe video from multibit is for electrum wallet not electrum cash but it is same procedure for electrum cash to get bch. Remember to send your btc to new wallet made from a new seed first as stated by Theymos in the OP.. it would be such a shame to trade security for convenience; I think this may cause a decreasing feedback loop for bch. ..more people figure out how to spend their bch the more they will dump and the lower price will go

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Well, as I've mentioned before it's usually a problem with compatibility or the derivation path. the video from multibit is for electrum wallet not electrum cash but it is same procedure for electrum cash to get bch.
Of course, Bitcoin Cash is basically just stealing all the work from others without actually being capable of delivering something themselves. Remember to send your btc to new wallet made from a new seed first as stated by Theymos in the OP.. it would be such a shame to trade security for convenience;
Definitely. I think this may cause a decreasing feedback loop for bch. ..more people figure out how to spend their bch the more they will dump and the lower price will go All that shitcoin is good for is trading it in for some real money.

The trading is a bit risky it is the time to invest, so hold your bitcoin in the investment and not to leave all on the luck for the low profit.

I'm using the core wallet, so I setup a second pc with a fresh install of windows 10 out of a old mining rig. I installed ABC wallet, but it just freezes after downloading about 60% of the blocks. Restarting, reinstalling doesn't fix it. Now, I'm trying to do it with bitcoin unlimited wallet, which is taking days. Is this my best option?

I can use the privkey of other addresses in my old wallet right? Only the address with all the coins is to be left alone after I import it into BCH wallet. Or are all those keys / addresses subject of risks?

FreeBitcoins.com allows you to dig and dump in minutes. You can dig individual addresses or whole .dats' in a few clicks. Only dig empty address though obviously and never trust that address again (but save it "just in case".)

It is good website and it can help a lot of people but I would like to say it has not fix price because it is not easy to make any kind of consequence about bitcoin price and income. For anything it is not a good action because if anything is happening it should be well planned and base currying. In bitcoin there is nothing to claim either you are having bitcoin wallet or not.

Is this almost similar to hacking? Does this only happen to bitcoin if bitcoin is not separated with Bitcoin Cash? What about the altcoin I collect with Bitcoin Cash?

At this point, there's really no reason for them to make a decision or even pick a side. Deciding what to do now could backfire on them, so it makes sense to just wait to see what happens. Coinbase has handled hard forks before. With Ethereum, they chose not to offer long-term support ETC and let people withdraw them for a couple of months before dropping support. In their FAQ they say they'll handle hard forks on a case-by-case basis. I see no reason to suspect that they'd completely fuck over every single one of their bitcoin customers by just throwing away or keeping their coins on the "losing" chain.

Has anyone here successfully managed to export their private keys from blockchain.info to some other web wallet/software wallet and use both coins? I am a bit scared to do so after reading about possible issues with double spending/replay protection - and suppose I won't use my BTC until August 10 anyway. Any prediction about future BCC price, the price will go drastically down or it will remain relatively stable in the future (around ~$400)?

I hate buying something that has gone up a lot recently, so I would probably hold it in fiat waiting for something to dip hard. Some say first we should transfer the funds to any other wallet before attempting to get bcc and some say not to do so because any incoming or out going funds will affect amount of bcc we get.( i.e the transfer/emptying of BTC from block chain to other wallet is done after 1st Aug.

I also recommend that people are considering using Bitcoin Cash to be careful with their private key. There is really no way to include a higher fee to significantly increase your trading opportunities that are included in the upcoming first block. I seriously find it strange that no exchange allows people to set themselves a withdrawal fee

Exchanges make $ from charging "miner fees". It isn't rocket appliances why they don't let you set your own fee!
