Very happy to hear this, sometimes we have problems with carrying cash.easily we can pay with bitcoin. Well this a good news and I hope Uber will accept bitcoin as payment. It will bring less hassle to the commuters daily if paying with bitcoin. Atleast for now we see bitcoin as for tipping drivers only, so lets hope they will implement to accept bitcoin soon.

That's a good news since Uber in the Philippines is very popular. Actually it is more popular than the traditional taxi. If they are going to accept bitcoin, much better. But the transaction fee plus the rate of meter, isn't that a bit expensive? Anyway, this is a good help for bitcoin because this will promote bitcoin more. And hopefully bitcoin will be a part of people for their everyday lives. Good job Uber.
if this issue is really true that then it would be a great news for the Bitcoin users. so Bitcoin has become accepted with an another wing. after restaurants, online shopping and clothing now Uber is allowing to take Bitcoin as a payment tool. so it has created another window for the Bitcoin users. it is really fascinating news for us.

Here in my country uber now are accepting bitcoin if you use the virtual card that linked into coins.ph where this is our based online bitcoin wallet that we can easily withdrawn our bitcoin via bank that already converted into fiat too. This is the goodnews that they start accept bitcoin as a payment and hopt this might continue into another thing again.

The fares are still paid in fiat or card. Bitcoin is just for tipping and it's optional, at least for now. They would have done better allowing bitcoin for fares as well. With the transaction fees being what they are, no-one is going to use bitcoin for tipping. Bro, I am using Uber for past 6 months but I do not find the option to pay the taxi fare with the bitcoin. Simply they fiat option and debit/credit card option to pay it. I hope they might testing bitcoin option in their beta version, We expect update site management team.

I don't think that tipping using Bitcoin can be popular here in the Philippines. Why would I want to waste my Bitcoin just for tipping when in fact we know that it is a little bit of a hassle buying Bitcoin here in the country. Bitcoin is already expensive and to include the add-ons by wallet providers it is already beyond what can be comfortable pricing. Tipping is good when we felt generous but I will never use my Bitcoin for it. For the simple reason i stated above...though this can help make Bitcoin be more popular and really act more as a currency rather than a tool for speculation.

Great news! We all would like to see bitcoin being used on UBER and in various other applications and services. I hope in the future this will become a reality, especially here in Brazil.

Wow! This is a great idea! Uber and Grab is becoming popular in our country nowadays. It will be more convenient and less hassle if they will accept Bitcoin as payment. Aside from that, it will be a good advertisement for Bitcoin. Many people will be interested to know about it. I hope that this will be implemented someday.

I'm really concerned if how the pricing would be if this will be implemented in the future. Bitcoin has no stable price and to think that we will utilize it in this kind of service and this kind of service needs a fix price.

Wow! And that is for tipping the Uber drivers? That sounds really a breakthrough idea. In the end, the tip will be more valuable than the fare itself.

Well, that is a good news. More and more business are utilizing Bitcoin at its finest. Many are recognizing the usage of Bitcoin and now, Bitcoin is being engaged in the aspect of transportation. This will also serve as a public advertisement since UBER is popular. The people will be introduced to Bitcoin and will somewhat wake their awareness to the existence of Bitcoin. Another win for Bitcoin

Uber India doesn't have any such option. But still I have a few questions regarding this news article. Can payments be made in BTC for the fare, or is it just for the tips to the driver? Also, are they accepting BTC directly, or are they using any third party app like Coinbase?

I think it is a good ideasince Uber is a very high on demand here in our country and many people are using bitcoin there will be no hassle if you want to ride uber and you don't have any cash. You jut need your phone and internet to access your bitcoin wallet and then use it as a fare in uber. I think it is good because it will be less hassle to many people.

Man, stop arguing whether this would be good or would not be good in the long run; the idea is to introduce BITCOINS to masses. The more they hear about bitcoins the more curious they get. It would also be best to put BITCOIN stickers in UBER.

Uber officially doesn't accept bitcoins, but Bitcoin can be used for Uber by paying through Shift Card (Coinbase) or Xapo debit card or through other virtual cards (bitcoin). Earlier some Uber drivers put up a QR code on the back of their seat for tipping. The tipping app mentioned in the above tweet is Vugo, it has been around since 2015. https://govugo.com/drive/Now the Bitcoin is being used to tip Uber drivers, a feature which has not been possible so far for the users of the popular service. The new application to tip with Bitcoins is called Vugo and has been created by a former Uber driver James Bellefeuille.
The new Vugo Bitcoin tipping application has already seen more than 3,000 Uber drivers integrating it into their car. The application needs to be loaded onto a tablet which the driver installs on the backseat, allowing satisfied users to tip the driver through Bitcoins. http://www.bitcoincasinos.com/blog/uber-drivers-can-now-accept-bitcoin-tips/Maybe Uber would add bitcoin option in future when it's more popular, instant confirmation (possible with LN), and less volatile.

Yea, I doubt if Uber has any official stance on this, but I know they do not accept Bitcoin payment for the service. I tried before and was denied. I actually asked the Uber drivers if they could use ChangeTip, when it was still around and they did not want to do that.

If all passengers will tip the uber driver, I'm sure that he will raise a lot of money. Bitcoins price is now rising and it is very lucky of him to have a tip such as that. And time will come that tip is much more valuable than the fare.

It must have been a simple strategy of the driver. We have seen lots of tricks from Uber drivers to get more tips and this may be one of them. If Uber starts accepting BTC then it will be a serious boost for the crypto universe.
