Great news! Uber drivers would be forced to get a bitcoin wallet. Thus, promoting the cryptocurrency in the transport sector. Drivers can’t complain they got paid by an unknown to them currency because it’s just a tip.

That's a good news since Uber in the Philippines is very popular. Actually it is more popular than the traditional taxi. If they are going to accept bitcoin, much better. But the transaction fee plus the rate of meter, isn't that a bit expensive? Anyway, this is a good help for bitcoin because this will promote bitcoin more. And hopefully bitcoin will be a part of people for their everyday lives. Good job Uber.

Do you think Uber in philippines can easily adopt with this new changes? Im sure it will take time to implement it or worst it will not implement in our country. I also hope that there will be no very high difference in converting fees from btc to php.

Meanwhile, bitcoin just got integrated with Uber for tipping drivers. Isn't that a good news?

Uber and Bitcoin are among the most groundbreaking technologies currently on the market. Uber, part of the so-called sharing economy, has created jobs and helped people arrive at their destination safely.

This is how I do it as well. The shift card Visa debit works great but may not be available in your state. This is a good solution until uber starts to accept bitcoin directly.

Bitcoin for rideshare is imminent. It WILL happen. As an Uber driver myself, I am thrilled about it.

Bitcoins are great to invest and trade. Why would anyone spend their bitcoins on Uber?

The solution is to immediately buy the amount of BTC you spent, secure in the knowledge that the BTC ecosystem is strengthened every time you do it.

Only problem is that creates additional theoretical tax overhead (supposed to report the acquisition even if you only owe on sell to fiat).. at least best it was explained me, I keep getting different answers from different CPAs.

That is definitely a good news, but I hope that every driver already knows about Bitcoin itself.

Uber's had trouble with regulation in many countries and states. Bitcoin can help them operate better in these areas. If people convert fiat to bitcoin for spending, it's just them using it as a currency and not investing. I love this use case, it's an example of why bitcoin is so promising and such a good investment in the first place!

because unless bitcoins has an IRL application like using it for paying your rent, buying your burger and basically using it as a means to pay goods and services as opposed to using fiat, bitcoins or any crypto currency cant realize its full potential ergo MORE MERCHANTS USING BITCOINS AS A MEANS TO PAY FOR goods and services rendered the better for ALL OF US!!! KAPISH???

If this is true it will make the development of uber and Bitcoin increasing. both will be mutually beneficial because each has a good enough market. with the use of Bitcoin in the uber service it will be able to make customers use the service more easily. I am very interested if uber can apply bitcoin also in the country where I live. This will be a positive change because we can take advantage of the condition.

Bitcoin is too big for payment for bitcoin drivers. Bitcoin is changing in price quickly than cash so paying coins is bad.

I haven't tried using Uber yet but knowing that they accept Bitcoin for optional tip I guess this is good news. Who knows we can also pay regular fares soon through Bitcoin. My only concern is the fee though, I really hope we can do something about it.

Great news on the side of Uber since bitcoin prices are still increasing up to now. Accepting bitcoins as a form of payment is such a great step forward in terms of future investments. I hopr other establishments and other taxi companies accept bitcoins as payment for both convenience.

That's a great news but we can see this as a kind of trial by the giant companies to test the utility value of cryptocurrencies for their financial infrastructure. There are some other factors too,

Pro-Bitcoin Expedia CEO Picked to Run Uber.

However, the day is not far away when we will be able to use Bitcoins to actually pay the bills with it, without converting it into the fiat currencies. At this point, we must appreciate such tests which are in the beta stage and has a tremendous scope in the future.
