There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Found this somewhere and noticed that DGC isn't even among the coins you can vote for. But lots of coins I've never heard of before...

Anyone asks money for voting is a fraudulent business scheme. They'll take as much coins as they can then close the site.

Read on the main page:

"We're also accepting payment votes! We've put a lot of time and capital in to making the exchange, and we believe it's only right to let users show their confidence in new coins by allowing them to use their wallets. Each 0.00005000 BTC received will count for 1 vote. All payment votes will be publicly visible, as you can see by clicking the addresses below, and will go directly to improving MintPal's infrastructure."

And you'll see every coin has its own BTC address to vote for it... You can put as much BTC as you want! But can't vote more than one per IP ... Hmmmm.

The top coin PND address received more than 2.5 BTC already.

Eek, I didn't even spend enough time there to read that. What a way to take bribes to make a reputation for oneself. Total garbage. Moving on.

Baritus can you please answer me some questions?

When will new DGC website design be online?
When will marketing campaign start?
Will marketing campaign target media like Coindesk?
Who is Andrew Davidson who will speak about DGC at http://cryptocurrencyconvention.com/ ?
Do you agree that marketing is now number 1 priority?
Will DGC join this event http://www.coinsumm.it/ ?

Will CAve accept SEPA?

What do you think about current DGC price development?

Thank you

I am considering increasing the minimum payout amount on the Digitalcoin P2Pools to 0.1 DGC.

This would mainly affect smaller miners. Instead of a bunch of small payouts they would get fewer larger ones. Currently set to 0.00000001 DGC it pays out every block no matter how small their share is. The problem is that smaller miners will accumulate a bunch of small payouts and be charged higher transaction fee's when they try to use them.

Thoughts?

Good idea.  Should help to reduce the amount of people that get the annoying (and frightening first time it happens!) stuck in limbo sends from the 'large transaction / dust' issue

The best way to promote DGC is if people could buy actual useful (promotional) products for DGC exclusively. It would stop everyone staring and fetishizing about USD/DGC rate as well as the BTC/DGC rate and increase holder's confidence while the price does not reflect how great a coin DGC really is!

In my opinion, all alt currencies in their current state are still just in the shadow of BitCoin and forever will be.  People only care about how many of their coin can be turned into BTC to be turned into FIAT.  No one really cares about their coin because you can't head to the store and buy anything with it!

If DigitalCoin wants to become its own identity if needs to be able to transfer DGC<->FIAT as easily as we can BitCoin on CoinBase.  Using these third parties payers in other countries to get around the law is a pain in the ass, should be able to send $100 from my bank over to CryptoAve and get $100 worth of DGC in my account like CoinBase.  Yeah yeah, then CryptoAve would be a bank and fall under regulation.  Paypal gets around this in America, figure out what they've done.

What would make DigitalCoin surpass BitCoin is if baritus managed to get some capitol and funded his own DigitalCoin debit card processing directly from your CryptoAve account.  The day I can mine $20 and walk out to a restaurant and buy my meal that same day is the same day BitCoin is toppled.  I'd happily accept baritus's processing fees for a currency that can be mined.  Problem is of course how to keep the flow of FIAT coming into CryptoAve versus flowing out, but Visa, MasterCard, and American Express have figured it out.

Sure, some places are now experimenting with BitCoin, but I'm sure they're just immediately cashing out to FIAT and aren't taking it seriously.

I only fear that once ASIC come out for Scrypt then it would totally fubar up DigitalCoin.  I'm sure the ASIC will fubar up LiteCoin first and then move down to the other Scrypt coins.

Agreed,  the options on the exchange seem totally shady.

There already are many ways to spend your DGC online, and online sales become ever more important in comparison to high street sales.

Asics for Scrypt would not mess up litecoin nor digitalcoin, because there will be loyal miners with Asics who mine the coins because they believe in them. You also couldn't suddenly mine more coins even if you might get a bigger piece of the pie because block payout always stays the same.

Payza?  Never heard of it until the other day.  Seemed like it was not even operational when I looked at it.

There was some countdown to launch and some nigerian prince looking dude smiling at me from the front page. Not really instilling feelings of security.
