Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

In Spectrecoin two addresses: one ordinary, the other anonymous. All transactions between anonymous addresses are anonymous. Nobody will know from which address and on what payment was made. You can not see the IP address of the wallets either. Therefore, it is certainly not surprising that in a darknet someone is using Spectrecoin.
What did you imply? Is that mean we have rights to choose which type of transactions we would like to do (ordinary or anonymous)? Personally, I think most users will use anonymous functions if transaction fees for both types are the same.

That might not be true in every single situation. If you are merchant for example things could look differently if they are forced to have transparent accounting data with information about their customers. That's why Monero won't go mainstream in the official e-commerce world.

It's a good point, for to prefer SpectreCoin, because it looks more like real money.
Real money obviously has both uses, like saying "both directions".

It's definitely an important point. If there is such an option where you can switch between anonymous and public transactions it will help XSPEC to not be automatically ruled out from being a payment method for e-commerce.

This is not much publicized, but SpectreCoin already has this optional system, with two types of addresses.
Thus, it can be used for privacy, and also for e-commerce, as you would with real money.

There may be two addresses: public and anonymous may in the future have an additional advantage over other coins.
And tell me, please, does anyone have two addresses (public and stealth)? Or is it only for Spectrecoin?

!!! IMPORTANT UPDATE !!!

Firstly, I would like to apologise for the confusion and lack of communication over the last few days. I unfortunately needed treatment for health issues last year and whilst I was not able to focus on Spectrecoin, the community and @jbg took control and pushed forward and they were able to sustain the project and assemble a strong following. Although, no fault of anyone involved this lack of clear leadership has caused the decision making process and the oversight to be somewhat lacking and at times the progress of the coding and the communication has rested solely on the shoulders of @jbg, @beachguy, @RKh and others. This has lead to unfounded FUD and stress on the team and in particular on @jbg who therefore at times has found it difficult to focus full time on development.

I have resolved my health issues and I have been back full time for the last few weeks and I spoken to @jbg and @beachguy and I have seen that the project I started with passion is being attacked and was lacking both steady funding, clear direction and leadership.

I passionately believe in the right to privacy and I believe that we can make Spectrecoin a leading privacy focused cryptocurrency. Therefore, after discussions with @jbg, @beachguy and @RKh I have resumed the role of project manager and I am in the process of taking control over the resources that were managed by @jbg in my absence and we have agreed an interim roadmap to get Spectrecoin back on track, secure funding and continue to develop what we believe will become a leading anonymous crypto currency and thereby sticking to our ideals and our original philosophy and create value for our investors and supporters.

We will strive for professionalism, accountability and transparency.
We will strive to be innovative, consistent and progressive in our approach.

This is what we set out to do in the short term pending the release of XSPEC 1.4

1.The new official Spectrecoin core team consists of the following:
- @mandica - “project manager”
- @jbg - “lead developer”
- @Brycel - “cryptographer”
- @mammix2 - “blockchain consultant”
- @beachguy - “community manager”
- @RKh - “marketing manager”

The core team will make decisions at this stage and work together to achieve the aim of the project until the release of XSPEC 1.4 and further until we can finalise a future governance structure and organisation. This is not done to exclude any community members who have supported the project and we hope that this will become apparent in the next few weeks. We all want the same outcome so stick with us. That also means that only the above are official spokes persons for XSPEC.

2. The official website at https://spectreproject.io/ will be hosted and updated by @mandica until we can find a permanent “web manager” that will be part of the core team.

3. Donation addresses have been updated and will be managed by @mandica. We will ensure accountability and transparency be publishing weekly reports on funding and expenses.

4. We will release updated wallets with a change in the development fund scheme in the next 1-2 weeks. We will allocate a min of 5% of the stake reward (1 in 20 stake reward) for a development fund to be able to ensure stability and steady funding and be able to hire further team members. There will be a protocol change to exclude older wallets past a pre-determined block to be set. We will calculate this to be 30 days from the release of the updated wallet. The exchanges will also be asked to update to the new wallet. That means this will be a MANDATORY update and wallets that have not been updated after the cut off block number will not be able to access the network.

5. The official GitHub repo is back at https://github.com/spectrecoin/XSPEC and all the releases will be published here. We will also bring all the unfinished code to the repo but will work on private repos until we are ready to release. Myself and @mammix2 will be able to oversee the work being done by @jbg and @Brycel and make sure that we set realistic deadlines and pay for work done.

6. I will be meeting a new programmer that will act as a blockchain / code consultant and oversee all the code work. @mandica (based in London, UK) will meet with the programmer in person and discuss details of the future for the XSPEC code base and ideas. This will be published shortly after the meeting. This is expected to take place during the first half of April 2018. On the back of that meeting we have a better idea of what we need to do and who we need to hire. I will also meet with @jbg and @Brycel when there is an opportunity to do this.

7. The team will endeavour to produce a new updated roadmap with realistic dates for 2018 and into 2019. There will be a focus on useful realistic features and improved privacy and anonymity.

8. Once we have implemented the initial changes in funding and management we will discuss technical issues and marketing strategies in more depth.

9. There will be a weekly meeting of the core team and an update the following day with updated details on funding and expenses.

10. The overall focus of the Spectrecoin project will be to produce a superior anonymous cryptocurrency and all of the above are means to achieve this goal. The above changes are necessary to ensure that we can achieve our goals and increase transparency around funding and expenses.

Min 5% of stake reward for a dev fund for the following reasons:
⁃ Predictable funding, budgets and projections
⁃ Core staff compensated for time worked and the “community branch”, “marketing branch”, “web branch” and “code development” will have budgets and resources to meet their respective needs.
⁃ Ability to hire specialists such as further cryptographers and programmers to meet deadlines and implement new features.
⁃ We will be able to meet the fees to get listed on further exchanges if that is deemed beneficial, such as Crypto-Bridge and Bittrex.

Hi All,

I sent some Spectrecoins from Cryptopia to my wallet 3 days ago but I can't see it in my wallet. In transaction hash, it shows that money has been sent and blockchain shows my coins but not in my wallet. Hash also says that my coins are not yet redeemed. Can somebody help me make sense of what's happening here? I am worried that all my coins might get lost.

@Mandica these are very good decisions. The project needed to increase its base, for to continue growing, now with the financing guarantees,
it will generate all the confidence it needs. Now the success of the project is totally possible.  Smiley

I think there are two or three themes together here, first your coins are safe, do not worry about this.

Hi guys, price prediction for end 2018? Love this coin <3

Please do not take out of this context what I say now: Let's say that if Bitcoin returns this year to the price reached in 2017, $ 20k, then
I clearly see SpectreCoin at $ 6.84 as a minimum, because now the team is better structured and also the overall situation of SpectreCoin is more stable and transparent.

@Mandica these are very good decisions. The project needed to increase its base, for to continue growing, now with the financing guarantees,
it will generate all the confidence it needs. Now the success of the project is totally possible.  Smiley

Yeah thanks for sharing! It is good to have you and the rest of the team back on track.

Over 50dollars price is really an impossible mission. However, the magic of crypto coins is the impossible thing happen frequently.
I will be very happy if the price is over 10 dollars.  Grin

Professionalising development does not detract from the core philosophy of Spectrecoin but in fact it makes it possible to achieve this and we hope you all will see the benefits of this in the near future.

Ok, finally, there are some reasonable sounds from the dev team. No big deal, but with a good trend. I will still keep my eyes on xspec. For me, it still has huge potential.

Sad thing it took what she claim to be fud to react. She was just comfortable cruising along and reaping tremendous benefits from doing the least amount of work as possible. Then this fudster came along and pulled her pants down and all of a sudden she is well enough to do what she should have been doing all along.  Am not doubting that she was sick but god knows how long it been since we received the message that she was sick from beachguy.
However, this guy (or  fudster as they love to claim Roll Eyes) does something that i think should be applied to every coin in the crypto scene to keep this supposedly devs on their toes and the price takes a serious dip, and all of a sudden she is well enough to take back control and guide us to nirvana

Hi,
I really like this coin and the way how you designed it. I believe good times are coming after all those bad things!
Edward Snowden pointed out recently that one of big problems preventing bitcoin to be used for ordinary payments (besides scaling) is that the ledger is public. He is right, nobody would like idea that anybody (his friend, employer, etc.) would know what he has bought and how much money he has at his account.
Therefore one of anonymous coins has chance to become widely accepted means of payment. And why Specter couldn't take this position, instead of monero or zcash for example? Specs are amazing and even now, transactions go fast, fees are very low and it does not uselessly consume lots of energy for mining. I know, some features are not yet implemented and the wallet is not bug free - but I believe you are good team and can progress when you are in full force again. Just don't forget to make it easily usable (for masses when it become widespread ;-) ) and don't miss your chance, currently you still look the best of all anonymous coins.

Regarding stake donations, I set mine to 50% and if I saw you make good progress, I wouldn't regret setting it even higher. So 5% of mandatory is not an issue at all.

Good luck, Pavel

The issue with the forced 5% is that it leads to centralisation, it means that it relies on one person, it cannot be switched off. It takes away that freedom of choice if you are not happy with development or direction.

This one point about donations being mandatory is going to split the community. No doubt there will be two versions of spectrecoin once mandica creates the fork.
