I was going to put a miner at this coin until I downloaded the win file at http://phenixcoin.com/phenixcoin-win.zip and tested it at VirusTotal zipped and unzipped.  It finds TROJ_GEN.F47V0412 in the zipped file and in libcurl-4.dll and pthreadGC2.dll .

I wont run this until I find out whats going on.  Any info is welcome.

I would like to try the coin because of the online poker.

It's been mentioned a couple times on here already, but it seems the virus positive comes from the minerd file zipped with the client. If you delete it, it should be all clean

Those are standard dll's from the mingw system. You can download them from http://www.mingw.org/ if you are concerned.

Thanks for replying.

I may have not explained what I did well.  Lets try this.

I unzipped the file and was checking the individual files at virustotal.  The libcurl-4.dll and the pthreadGC2.dll files both found something.

Do I need those files to run the win qt client?  I have not seen those files in other coin win qt's.

Just want to be safe.

(EDIT)  Oops did not see your other reply.  I will try to find the files seperate....thanks

Oops, hadn't noticed, I need to pay more attention haha.

AbiTxGroup, what you can do if you're wary of virus scans coming positive is to install it on a VM or a purely mining computer and just backup the wallet.dat file. That's what I do when I wanted to try some of the new altcoins that came out. I would just install it in one of my purely mining setups. That way it's contained, and you have the wallet.dat file should you find out it's really clean in the future, and want to install it on a main computer.

Dont go by posts.  Just cause I am busy do other things and not posting here a bunch of BS replies to get a large post count as a LOT of others do.

I have already compared the files in the zip to other coins and the two files I pointed out as having shown infections are not in WDC, DGC, or FTC, just to name a few.  I am on my linux laptop atm, so those are the only coins I have to compare to from this machine.

BTW to others.  I have a miner ready to go and a account setup at HackShardGaming.net.  Just trying to find clean files to start mining.

Alright, you guys got my attention.

It's nice that you guys didn't mess up your blocktime by shortening it 10x.

That alone tells me this coin COULD live long term.

And the fact that services were already prepared, tells me this coin probably WILL live long term.

The question now is, hold onto generated coin or sell? I'm in for holding, but then again I'm still sitting on some old bitbars since I only sold half of mine. (I am NOT comparing BTB to this, I think this project has more momentum.

The only problem I have is the 1,000,000 coin premine.
However, I have 0% issue/0 problems with it as long as its donated to people in the community. In fact I think it would help to 'spread the wealth'. Doing otherwise I feel will lose community trust in PhenixCoin, cutting short the value and coins lifetime.

Lately I can't be bothered with all the alt-hype, since I got a little burned on the BTB wagon.
Maybe I'm sounding like a broken record but PhenixCoin sounds like it's more promising than most recent scrypt-alts, for sure.

I'd like to think it'd go far too. Already places to use it, and more to come from what they say. It'll open doors for other places to use it as well. Just noticed this too after someone pointed it out, but their startup casino takes Feathercoins too which is my other coin of choice, so that's definitely a plus.

As for their pre-mine, it would be safe to say it isn't a pump and dump. As people have mentioned, there has been way more effort than its worth to just dump the coins. Not to mention barely any of it would be sold if that was the case since once there's a huge sell order like that, everyone would obviously jump ship. They've already given a lot back to the community such as rewarding supporters, which I read somewhere earlier they rewarded the trade spreadsheet operator with one. Plus they've also given extra coins to people who mined in their pools for the hiccup it was having with giving the correct payouts. There are also the free coins they're giving for people signing up to their poker site.

Personally my coins of choice are Feathercoin and Phenixcoin as you can see lol. As for holding, I'm in cryptos for the long term. I'll sell 10% of my coins once selling that 10% makes me back what I invested in mining equipment, and then hold the rest for a couple years at least and some to use as coin currency itself.

Yeah 1,000,000 sounds a lot but the dev costs, and they also gave out 150 coins to everyone to play poker and 1500 free roll poker games and 50 free roll every hour. Soon at this rate they will see quite a few of their coins vanish. I think a couple of hundred k  coins for the dev team is okay to keep them interested . Quite a few ppl already have a few K of the coins. Let's wait for the entire new casino and perhaps android and iphone casino apps and if this guy really did create the original cams site then that's quite interesting too. Maybe some cams here that people can spend their phenix on too Smiley

Can we get a confirmation that all corrective refunds are now complete (sorry if this was already done and I missed it). I'm 90% sure I'm still missing between 3 and 6 thousand coins.
