It is possible to import private keys for Transparent addresses.
Simply use "votecoin-cli z_exportwallet exportfilename" in your old CLI wallet, and import your keys in GUI wallet in Backup section.

Synchronizing a new version of your wallet works if I understand you correctly.
Why do not you just move the wallet.dat file to a new wallet? Then you can send your coins to a new address if necessary. Is it not possible for transparent addresses? I checked, this method works ..

Would anyone be interested in a tutorial video on how to install Linux/Slax on a PC and setup votecoin wallet.

Problem is i have zero clue about linux or slax but im willing to learn as it seems like quite a safe way to keep the VOT you have accumulated.
