The discussion about the name was the basic one during the Shaft beginning. We decided that this word has so much meanings related to mining industry and economics as such that we couldn't pass by. The Network will start at 20.00 GMT on 8th of September.

Great my rigs as they are will be ready  

unfortunately my 2 new 1070's for my second rig don't arrive till Saturday so that'll just be mining with 2 cards for 12-24 hours

This will have pool right at launch?  If so, would you mind providing config settings for the pool right at launch?  Like:

Claymore: EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool [pool] -ewal [add] [other settings]
Ethminer: ethminer [settings]

I can figure out ccminer, but these Dagger miners have so many settings I don't get.  Your help would be much appreciated and make it more newbie-miner-friendly, which is part of making your coin miner-friendly generally

claymores miner can be awkward if you aren't used to it

the main thing is "-allcoins 1" and setting the right type of pool:

-esm   Ethereum Stratum mode. 0 - eth-proxy mode (for example, dwarpool.com), 1 - qtminer mode (for example, ethpool.org),
   2 - miner-proxy mode (for example, coinotron.com), 3 - nicehash mode. 0 is default.

We are trying to name things with a bit of time lag in case something goes wrong. There is a high chance it will happen tommorrow, but you can't always be sure.

We are trying to name things with a bit of time lag in case something goes wrong. There is a high chance it will happen tommorrow, but you can't always be sure.

Gosh I think it's really a shame when devs do things like release uncompiled version for the technical public to mine on Day 1 and then let less technical folks like me wait until Day 2 or 3 to get in.  It obviously reduces the pool of miners.  What's really strange though is that it doesn't actually look like you're mining on the pool.  So I don't think you have bad intentions or are trying to profit for yourself, so why not just wait to release the whole blockchain until you have a compiled wallet on at least one OS?  You said you wanted this to be a miner's coin, but you're letting some miners have an advantage over others if the chain is live right now.

If the chain isn't live and I've misunderstood I apologize, but I assume it is since we're past your countdown and you released the source.

The ANN does explain this:

capabilities of the classical smart contract system and in the future Ricardian contracts will be softly implemented within Shaft. This contract duo system will enable massive possibilities to smart contract everything both in crypto and material world. Just imagine automated world build with smart contracts, that every schoolkid could understand.

The coin is still going to be a useful platform which will drive value, but the platform will be driven by mining, unlike ETH which will likely move to PoS.
