I don't think New Athens would be a terrible name I didn't even think of that, the "New" would totally add in informing people of what we are trying to do. We aren't looking to the past for the answers, it's more like we are continuing what they started

Simple living in its best form! Love the look of those houses in the pictures. Can we make them available for rent in BTC?
|
Bitcoins are earned, not traded! If you plan on hoarding BTC, you're on my target list. (And yes, it is possible to swim in BTC.) Don't give me that Bull... I'm one of those honey eating Bears that the bees hope to never meet again... Viva la BTC!!!

That's the goal. We want to have things like bitcoin exchange booths, and bitcoin hotels. I haven't finished making videos, but if we can get everything done we will have not only plenty of people interested in being citizens, but even more people interested in being tourists. We are going to make this a "town of the future".

And, we are going to work together with the environment to create the ideal natural living conditions. There will be an eco-council that watches the flora and fauna each year, and they will release a decided number of certain animals and plants, then the next year they will see if anything new needs to be done to balance the eco system.
Ex: Buy and eventually breed drangonfly eggs to be released into town ponds, to eat mosquitos and similar pests, while adding to the "enchantment" of New Mexico.
Breed and release free-range Guinea Chickens, for eggs. Also for their "watch dog" qualities, as in, Guinea chickens will alert you when someone that is not from the neighborhood, or a new animal is around. They also eat ants, TICKS & spiders. So they are pretty good animals to have around.
Put up bat houses to attract bats, as well as bird houses to attract birds. And fruit trees (and cactuses like "saguaro", which grow to be over 50 foot tall and live longer than humans) that grow well in New Mexico (like Pears, Apples & Peaches) to feed them, and so that public workers can collect food to be distributed. Bat guano can also be collected for many uses, including fertilizer. And both animals eat bugs that are pests.
We will have a rabbit farm to feed both humans and any pets, while providing fertilizer.
This is just a few of the ideas that will be presented in the videos soon, so that we can live in a near perfect eco-system. And we can sell the eggs from the dragonflies and chickens, as well as the guano from the bats and the fruit from the trees, on the internet and at market.

How did you come about all those ideas? But what I don't understand is why would you want to do away with the free-market -- why so much emphasis on the public workers to make your plan work?

The free market will still be there. "Town work" will just be posted on bulletin boards or the internet, the whole point is just to have the town approve it so that the workers are paid by the town (if you can't afford to hire your own people), and people in town can earn some money. Some people won't be moving to the land they buy, so we will have some plots that are rented out for maintenance or cash (by people that want to live in town but can't afford $10,000 for a plot, or by young people who get their parents to get them a place in town or something) by the owner, and those people will most likely be looking to the bulletin boards for work all the time. And if you wanted to hire someone yourself from around town, that wouldn't be a problem at all. As long as you paid them with your money.

See if you can change the emphasis from "looking for work" to "looking to buy", as the latter would suggest that people in bitcoin town produce something so economically valuable that there's a growing demand for their labor. Otherwise, it will be just another town, with nothing to show other than passion for a better future.

Oh don't worry, I haven't even gotten to talking about what kind of things we are going to produce/sell This is going to be a "town of the future". And it's all completely viable in modern times, nothing I am going to talk about is out of human reach as of now, let alone in the next year or two And it won't be out of our reach either. And hopefully we can eventually start programming robots to produce the things for us. But that is like 10 years off. There are farming robots and stuff though that are currently in production, so we can have some help farming.

Once I get a better computer (I don't even have paint or Microsoft office), I will make some video slideshows and diagrams on paint (ecosystem, houses, etc) to show what living in the town will be like, after the videos (the ones I am already making) are made, or maybe about half way through.

---- Exactly who will be building these houses? And how many are you aiming to build?
Think about it, there's going to be at least two hundred people living there. Let's say eighty are going to want Earth-Ships and Geo-Domes. And these houses are going to be huge, so there could only be 1-2 produced in a year if rushed.
Not to mention who will pay for the supplies? (Would cost hundred thousands to millions of dollars.) ----

PUBLIC WORKERS (people who live in town and need to earn money). Can everyone at least read the last 5 posts before replying. As many as needed, some people will want to rent out their land, so we will be building more than just the same number of people that found the town. Lol, we will produce WAY more than 1 or 2 a year. I grew up in a town where LARGE 2 story brick and mortar houses went up in 3 months. We will be getting a back hoe and a cement mixer (for cob and adobe), so there won't be the need to bring dirt in from outside, or waste too much time digging. And they are much easier to construct than a regular house. Supplies will be: Old tires, Soda & Beer cans, Dirt, Clay & Straw (we will plant canary reed), then wood or metal bars for frames and pipes for plumbing. Other than that, solar panels is all we need for the houses. But we will start on the regular energy grid first, and I haven't gotten to this in the videos yet, but we will be connecting houses to the water and electric grid if they choose to be (town center gets priority. Meaning, shop owners, etc).
