I usually just look at the whitepaper, roadmap, team, feasibility  and uniqueness of a project.

I'm looking at market cap, I don't care about the supply as it will just bounce with it's price and stuffs. What matters most is it's development and what will be the use of that coin.

it is not luck, so what you say is not what i agree with. sometimes unexpected drops happen sometimes they are out of our hand but what you do about it is in your control. you can keep holding and hoping and still losing money or you can STOP it by dumping at a small loss and prvent bigger disasters.

in any case trading altcoins is only working as long as you don't buy in their bubbles. you buy before the bubble and then dump when others start talking about how good that altcoin is

Determining whether altcoin trading is profitable or not depends on the amount you are investing in trading. A small amount of investment would generate a small amount of profit. It also depends on what strategy you are using. My basic strategy is to not sell in a loss.
Whatever the amount is, just hold until you get the profit. Beware that this strategy is only applicable to stable coins and investing in shitcoins would then obviously lead to a loss.

I agree with you that now long-term holding is definitely better. As btc is jumping the other coins are mostly too unstable as well. They still didn't recover fully after Chinese regulations.

You should also know that although altcoin trading is very profitable but altcoin trading has a considerable risk dude. you can see almost all altcoin is currently experiencing price declines. all altcoin graphs in exchange are red colour. it is a risk on altcoin trading. you also have to be smart in the analysis in order to avoid this situation

From my experience I am giving some important strategy for trading alt coins for good returns below :

I look for the team behind the project first, then the underlying tech to make sure that what they're trying to do is feasible. I then invest in the coin and wait, which is much less stressful than trading (for me anyway).

You can certanily make money trading altcoins back and forth.

We know certain news about bitcoin having an update or ETH having an update. YOu can use that news as a basis for figuring it will go up in price within the next few weeks or a month. Which means your BTC will be able to buy you more alt coins and or tethers and or Fiat(USD or EUR or wahtever).

So since we know that, we should be buying in to some right now. Altcoins can go up higher in price that btc % wise because some altcoins get pumped due to how little volume they have. Some coins can go up by 10z in a week due to pumps. Altcoin trading is profitable in the long run not just on short term. If you are good in controlling your emotions and patience then you will succeed in it, especially if you have a lot of investments as the more Altcoins you have, the more profit you will gain from it. Altcoin is profitable but it will depend on how you handle it right. Trading needs more time and skills for you to get a profit. Altcoins is very different from bitcoin.
