I ran across this the other day, clearly it is a scam, but they sure spent a lot of time putting together a very nice site and it seems to have raised some money as well. Anyone know anything specific about this or is it entirely a joke?

Its more a joke, some people on Reddit discovered its source code and decided to mine it and build something from it.
Dogecoin is kind of similar, it isn't very serious. I would not go as far as calling it a scam but..

But anyone can see that with a name like that it isn't something to really be taken serious.. same as Doge..

But still even if it is a scam, it has high chances to become quite popular, with such a concept

For me its a entire joke to invest such a coin. They haven't gain any traction from the community and those who have invested on it will sure find the hard way that they have been scam by this coin. What the hell someone put a coin and called it Jesus Coin to begin with? Their marketing is not very good in choosing a brand name.

I think that's probably a joke. I do not see in this project global in and interesting ideas

Exactly. Not a very interesting ideas to begin. But I'm sure that some have already fallen for this trap. And will regret their decision, Although $50,000 is no joke, I will still not invested my hard earn money to this kind of project with no interesting ideas but to get peoples money.

Yes it is an entire scam, but a lot of people have invested ethereum in them, maybe it was a gift or a donation, or who knows, i dont understand how the hell they have raised more than 100 ethereum, maybe it is not a lot of money, but they are only running a joke-project, and it is not even serious.
there are a lot of good projects and they can not raise money because nobody trust in them, but they trust in jesuscoin.. I am sure that those eth that they raised were only donations..

Whoever made this name of a coin,I definitely don't like the idea. Label any names they want but religiously speaking, don't use it as a coin's name. Don't you ever think it is a holy name? Think first if it's worth the name. If it really exists, but I hope to change the name. Even if it is a gift or a donation, this is still a very pure and sacred name in the world of cryptocurrency. I haven't seen someone is using Jesus coin and I have no idea at all that it is already there. Could somebody give me details about Jesus coin? I'm just so curious about it but at the same time worry too.

Of course this completely a joke. Lets check the name first, we have different beliefs here, Christians, Muslims, etc etc even Atheist. We all agreed that this is something that "Jesus" shouldn't be used in any coin or what or any religious personality. I think the purpose they had was to have a coin that's catchy but it turned out not.

Someone probably just wanted to create a polarizing coin that would cause a lot of drama, so they went with a religious approach. It's not a bad idea if you want publicity, but I don't really see their endgame, even if they did manage to cause some fuss. Also if they really wanted to create drama they should have called it Mohammad coin. Too risky, I guess.

ITs still really not worth the time spending time to create such complicated website all for a joke like that. I posted their youtube video on my facebook  just to make people laugh too seeing jesus did some pitch to investors. Some of my bitcoin friends reacted saying its scam. of course it is. I don;t think it even got funds. Did they get some?

We should define the concept of "scam". Jesustoken cannot be a scam if you don't believe in Jesus, of course. It can be a scam only if you DO believe in Jesus, and you have to understand if Jesustoken will effectively manage to decentralize Jesus as promised. For non believers, this is not an issue, since the object of this decentralization doesn't exist in the first place. However, supposing that Jesus exist, the success of this decentralization relies more on the public than on the devs.

I'm reviving the Jesus Coin thread.

Not just because it's hilarious but also it shows just how crazy the crypto and ico world has become.

It's clearly a joke, but there are those who are split between calling it a scam or a legit business.
Elite types getting angry that there's another shit coin.
Some actually trying to analyze it and suggest that there's a market for this coin.
Others getting offended by a coin using their religion for profit or as mockery.

You know what's the craziest part of all of this?

They actually raised a couple hundred ether in their ICO...

The project seems like a joke because the whitepaper itself is very funny, in the white paper the dev said even if the unbelievers buy the coin they will still go to hell.

It's only a joke coin that wants to mock people that are believing to Jesus. Personally I was offended to see this being advertised and the people behind this coin aren't so serious about making this project.

But they've got the project have some profit so that matter only to the devs and they happily get out of this out with the sum of good profit.

Who did invested to this coin and got some profit? I bet there's are some but most of us just ignored this joke.

LOL you are definitely right about that  Grin. the media now is shit compared ten years ago. This coin should not exist because using the name of the lord to gain money is a grave sin. If they really (lol) want to raise funds for a good cause this is not the right way of doing it.

It is just a coin for purely entertainment. But i do have to agree that they put in a fair amount of work.

There are other coins which similar usage.
1. Dogecoin (I have dogecoin and i am happy with that. The dogecoin community is awesome.)
2. Fuck Token
3. Recently i even heard about the forgiveness ICO token.

I also feel that it is not a nice to use the word 'Jesus' as it can be quite a sensitive topic. The sad thing is that the creator may purposely create it on the knowledge that it would be sensitive and so it could be used as a tool for advertisement.

They say not to judge a book by it's cover, but just from the name it would be a pass for me.
I am sure it is a joke, and I am hoping whoever did "invest" on this ICO did it more like a donation. However, I will say that it was nice to read part of their Whitepaper and find out it was well written, which is not the case with other more "legit" ICOs.

I believe Jesus was use to support their trust and to motivate people to invest into their project and like you said it might be a joke. However since they were able to raise some money, there may be some things in it that may attract this project to the investors.

They raise money? That's very encouraging for scammers  Smiley Maybe one day we can also see Devil's token claiming to burn all those scammers to hell. Will some exchange really will list a token that its name itself sound like a not serious type.  If the price of this token becomes more than $1, can we still treat this a joke?

I ran across this the other day, clearly it is a scam, but they sure spent a lot of time putting together a very nice site and it seems to have raised some money as well. Anyone know anything specific about this or is it entirely a joke?

Like honestly this is just plain stupidity. It's obviously not going to be worth anything going forward, it has no real life usages and has nothing special to offer in terms of technical proficiency of the developers surrounding this project.

I don't think it's a joke, or maybe it is. However, they did spend money on advertising on this forum.

It's a wonder that they raised 200 ETH for this crappily drawn up project.

It would be interesting to get an honest interview with them to see what their goal was, how much they spent and why they did the whole exercise. If it was to prove a point, then having a follow up writeup would be interesting.

Also you can make smart contract in Ethereum that accepts Jesus coins and sells you absolution of your sins. And then bribe some catholic priest to give this contract official blessing from the church. Name this contract "Absolution".

Go  ahead.  If Jesus coin got some funds, you  could probably get more than what they got.  But I'm sure My eth won't be sent to  yours though. You could find  some investors on facebook, I think you can find more naive investors there that don't even read what the  project is about so long as they can dump the token when its listed.

Will jesus coin be listed even on  yobit?

Nope this jesus coin not yet listed in Yobit list. There are many news about this coin's in the end of september. I really worry religious kind of benefits having altcoin to be introduced. Please go ahead to the check the white paper before you are going to invest your fund this ICO. I do not think its value will raise in future. This Utrust ICO best to invest. Do in that one.

Also:

International User License Agreement prank.

1. Insert somwhere in the middle of every license Agreement, produced by your company something like:

"Check this box if you do not want to grant us with posession of your immortal soul by agreeng with terms of service."

2. Link user agreement form to ethereum smart contract that stores list of all immortal souls scammed by this agreeement.

3. Trade those souls for Jesus Coins.

HuhHuh

For me it doesnt matter whether it a joke or if it is legit.
But why would anyone name such a coin like that.
It is absolutely wrong.
People who has strong religious belief will automatically reject it simply because of its name.

^^ This^^ can I get an Amen? Let the church say Amen. On a serious not. I don't think its a scam coin. The founder/s are just mocking the whole jesus theory scam. I would definitely donate towards this cause. I enjoyed reading the white paper. The author/s are funny. I was really entertained and I support their cause.

Even its name, Jesus Coin, sounds like a joke or a kind of a mocking. I was shocked to read that those, who worked out this stuff are sincerely sure that JC is more effective than the prayer! They say, the main goal of Jesus Coin is to decentralize Jesus on blockchain. Seriously?

I have visited its website and it humored me. It was funny when it say that it will forgive all of our sins when we have some of their coins, that will never happen because forgiveness is being earned by confession. I think this coin is a sinful coin because it uses God's name to nonsense.

This coin will go straight to coinhell then!

But you can get a get out of hell free card for just a few Jesuscoins.
The practice of paying for forgiveness has a long history in most religions.

Using the cryptographic breakthrough of the blockchain ledger and anonymous cryptocurrencies, Jesus Coin has been developed as the currency of God’s Son. Unlike morally bereft cryptocurrencies, Jesus Coin has the unique advantage of providing global access to Jesus that’s safer and faster than every before.

Sin Forgiving – Jesus Coin is negotiating with churches to outsource sin forgiveness.
Transaction Speeds – Record transaction times between you and God’s son

ICO has become all comers affair, the good, bad and ugly are all there, there has to be some kind of regulation for the process of ICO and some criteria ICO ogernizers should meet. some of them are just pure scam.
There are very good ones though.

Jesus Coin is limited in its appeal! The majority of the world follows a religion other than Christianity and the centralized nature of the Catholic church has proven to be a problem throughout its history. The crusades, molestation scandals, and tax evasion are all things that happen under the church.

I have consulted with major deities and have concluded that we must decentralize religion and spirituality forever! http://pietycoin.net/

You really think this coin has a bright future? The whole concept does not appeal to me and the name of this coin is not something to be joked about. Why create a coin based on religion? Something like this could provoke many people and cause outrage among the crypto community and would lead to a lot of problems for everyone. I would never support something like this.

Yah. Came across it too. "Decentralizing jesus" damn that killed me. Got resurrected but saw it again and died again. That happened a couple of times then it happened again today. Hahhahah
Clearly this coin is nothing but a joke. Although it is shitty, I don't think it's a scam. I remember dogecoin whenever i see coins like these. Thinking maybe the developers of coons of these type are freakin high amd trippin whem they thought of the project. Lol.
Anyways, its fun, but not something i would put my money on.

I'm a christian but this thing needs a very serious effort to form it into reality. I can't just troll even most of you guys did but aside of they're naming it like they're more concerned about having cryptocurrency for christians but it seems they're just making a net to set some christian fall into their evil plans.
Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is for all whatever the religion and beliefs but this kind of trick will definitely noticeable by many and even myself.

I ran across this the other day, clearly it is a scam, but they sure spent a lot of time putting together a very nice site and it seems to have raised some money as well. Anyone know anything specific about this or is it entirely a joke?
Jesus Coin?! The name of this coin says that this is a scam.
You can buy also ObamaCoins or SantaClausCoins  Grin

And I have Robocop coin. Anyone want to buy them?  Grin

I was shocked to read that those, who worked out this stuff are sincerely sure that JC is more effective than the prayer!
Well kind-of. It's a prayer on blockchain. Blocckchain makes everything better. Right?

LoL, maybe it's a kind of Altcoin that Jesus followers will send their Tithes and Offerings as tokens.
And maybe someone today is making a Satan Coin or somebody else's Coin.

Just saw the Satan Coin pop up last week (not sure when it started, that's when I saw it). Not gonna link to it though.

Is this other project for real? LoL. However beware from the imitations, Jesuscoin remains the top choice for the moment Smiley

When I heard it and saw that there is an ICO which is Jesus Coin, honestly speaking its kind of insulting in the name of Jesus Christ. That's why I've been thinking about whoever created this coin He/she will take the consequences for what He/she did about it.

Too bad if scammers use this type of coin, and if created this coin just lolz, well it is not funny to use the name of god as a joke coin, it is kind of  disrespecting and insulting the name of jesus christ.
But goodluck to this coin i hope someday it will have a good value and will be as popular as bitcoin.

I believe that it is an absolute sacrilege to call a coin the name of Jesus? Honestly, it can end badly for the organizers, make money on this. This is immoral and unprincipled.

After all of the BCH drama today, I wonder which is worse, a joke coin that offends Christians, or a wannabe BTC trying to do a hostile takeover of bitcoin?

I guess with everything that goes on in the crazy world of crypto, decentralized currency really does work.
Since we all are free to control and do what we want with the tech, well, let me just say there are all kinds of people out there.
People who will use shady tactics to get monetary gain
People who will use religion to make a joke.
People who are bored and make trumpcoin.
People who have a normal job and decide to get into crypto.
People who use icos to scam others.

In light of this, I find myself more willing to accept the joke coins out there right now.

I don't think there's anything bad about joke coins. I had great laughs and anyone with a brain should realize very quickly that jokecoins are not an investment.

BCH on the other hand is everything that Bitcoin stands against. Wonder how many people had their money stolen by Ver and Jihan.

Making money on the name of Jesus is indeed a quite controversial activity, especially as the catholic church, the protestant church etc etc have been doing it for so much time.

Lol this thing is not surprising to me. I have an airdropped token called "Piety Coin" (you can research it) they also have a nice concept and it is all about obviously for christians and to save your soul. I like their theme but coins like this wouldnt be that popular in this environment just because it focuses on religion. And many of us have different kinds of religion and this is what separates most of us. Not a good option to invest in this things.

Whether or not there is of this coin, for me .. The point is we have to remain cautious on the coins that are not so familiar and known by many people to invest. It would be nice to ignore the emerging things that could be make us lose or be fooled by it, not just this coin but still many other coins that can even make us lost or deceived.

It is like a crap site since they didnt posted much information or either about the project, but you made good thing by posting here in this forums.

If you are referring to any kind of coin then i hope that there is no coin named next to our Creator because that is a piece of non sense

I knew that dogecoin, I also think it is not serious. I agree with you that sometimes we can figure it out according its name.

True, this is so bad, I wish there would be some kind of board of control (where new ones must verrify and have a proper whiteproof and have a minimum of cap), so that scam coins and other coins with bad intentions can be filtered. That would also decline the run of new unworthy coins which no one likes and more importantly that they cannot harm the market.

Btw, certain names should not be allowed like God, Jesus, Country names and protected names

I truly dislike the usage of the name Jesus for a coin. This doesn't seem to be a good terminology for naming a coin, whatever might be the name too adds beauty. Here this name truly hurts people who have a good faith upon Jesus. Hope such kind of naming won't happen anymore.

I consider the name of this coin to be blasphemy (Jesus Coin). For these people there is nothing sacred. I will not even read their white paper. This would be appropriate if it was about donations to the church or helping orphans. But I do not think that the church has anything in common.

It would be more suitable for european and US countries maybe this token will be in demand and get its investors.$50,000..a considerable amount if for development, according to the concept it carries Wink

Honestly I'd almost invest in it as a form of payment for giving me a really good laugh.

Good job Grin
But still even if it is a scam, it has high chances to become quite popular, with such a concept

Yeah, the concept is likely to help projecting the project to get to an unexpected grounds because it is going to make people want to try on it.

Meanwhile, it also looks like something not serious, like a joke and not a serious business name.

The Jesus coin project to me is something I cannot call a scam because I can't remember if they had an ICO. The dev behind the project is funny because he said even if unbelievers participate in the ICO they will still go to hell.

I fully agree with this question. The fact is that as somehow or other it is still blasphemy. Any questions that people try to connect the name of Jesus and money, not only fraud, but not human stupidity.

I think it's too risky. I would not have invested them. Than it reminds me of a joke, but it's very well decorated.

When you visit the website of this new cryptocurrency, it’s impossible not to think that it’s a hoax and That’s because it started as one. Initially meant as satire by a group of friends, soon after its ICO launch, Jesus Coin started taking off as cryptocurrency investors scrambled to get a piece of the action.

Oh! The Jesus Coin thread! I had forgotten about this.
And it is definitely most welcome.

I feel like we need more joke coins out there.
I look at coins that have been around since 2014 or so, and a lot of them are passion projects or techies fooling around.
Now, we have scams, shitcoins sold as pure gold, and people only caring about money.

About a month ago, I was a little bored and started collecting random alts just for fun.  I now have 1 of each:

Mao Zedong
Trumpcoin
Unobtanium
Fucktoken
Nyancoin

and now, I will add Jesus Coin.

The funny thing is, Unobtanium was actually somewhat expensive when I bought it, around 60usd.

it's just a bad ICO and I would advise to keep away from it.

I think it's a little sick to use belief systems to make money.

I can't tell if it is a joke or just a very, very bad ICO. I would just look somewhere and not waste clicking on the thread / website.

Just walk away from this one.

Whether it is a joke or just a very bad idea, I hope nobody invests into it. I also find it quite distasteful that they are using religion to make money in the crypto world.

Every single sentence in their Jesuscoin website is a masterpiece of humor. People who are mentally unable to enjoy that should just walk away and switch on TV and watch something at their level of understanding.

I ran across this the other day, clearly it is a scam, but they sure spent a lot of time putting together a very nice site and it seems to have raised some money as well. Anyone know anything specific about this or is it entirely a joke?

I don't like judging but i am wondering why they will create such a coin but when i remember Dogecoin, i just reserve my comment. it is best you do your research thoroughly

Yes, I just enjoyed the humor on their site. They skillfully decorated everything. I'm not going to invest money in ICO, but I like their work.  Cheesy

Well that was just a joke I bet. Also maybe they've raised some money with insane religious fanatics who bought that coin. No one in bright mood will spent a penny on that.

Hahaha the day I saw it I laughed and downloaded their whitepaper tohave a look. While reading the document I almost fell on the ground laughing because of their sense of humour and bluntness to their proposal. Anybody who invested on it must have done so for fun because they didn't promise anything. Don't say they scam you. Always read whitepaper before you invest in any coin.

Jesus coin Team

Jesus ChristFounder and CEO After a few years napping in heaven, Jesus got tired of seeing the financial injustice created by the banks and decided to resurrect once more in order bring forth his own cryptocurrency and solve all of earth’s ills.

Judas IscariotTrustee In order to allay any fears about transparency concerning the Jesus Coin project, Jesus decided to entrust the role of the trustee to a colleague who will not hesitate to denounce all dubious acts that do not conform with the law.

Saint PeterPublic Relations As spokesperson of the apostles, Saint Peter is considered by Jesus to be the best suited person to fulfill this role.It seems that after his comeback on earth he fell in love with McDonalds and passes his time there.

I'm resurrecting (get it? haha... um, ha...) the Jesus Coin thread again.
It's a fantastic thread and much welcome when nowadays you mostly have newbies whining about the market or asking what they should buy or if eth will die.

Don't take my word, check it out yourself, the Jesus Coin website will definitely get you a laugh.
Or, if you are a strong Christian, probably offend you.

Jesus Coin is a great example on just how creative and crazy the crypto world can be.
It was made as a joke coin, but actually ended up making quite a bit of money in their "ico".
From there, it got a bit of a cult following and the price has stayed steady and has even risen at times.

Then, of course, copycats started popping up.
People wanting to make a quick buck off of a joke coin.

Joke coins have been around since the beginning, just look at doge.
I've developed a strange habit of collecting these kinds myself.

I recently bought some Nyancoin and, surprisingly, the blockchain is still being maintained and mined!

I've already seen at least 3 similar sites, I think it's a joke, not scam. Obviously, you can not invest in such projects.

It is just a joke. As we know there is a big number of meme ICOs right now, so it is one of them.
In my opinion it is funny and I like such ICOs like DOGYcoin or SpaceKIM or JEsusCoin.

My first contact with this was on twitter when I saw this coin, the name kind of attracted me to know more about it and later I just decided within me that this coin is one of the scam in the market and never did a research after that. People are really trying all means to scamming people but not all is blindfolded and novice on  this issue.
