Yes, we are currently experiencing downtime. We're investigating it right now and I'll be sure to keep this thread updated when I know more. Sorry for the inconvenience and the interruption.

Seeing trades go through my end maybe only down for certain people areas? The volume looks a little dead right at this moment.

Looks like a bunch of bitfinex customers are stuck with a 0-confirmation withdrawal for the last 10(?) hours or so:

https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/2e9ceda8a520f4d0deca82158cfb389848575f505e6f5e9b2011c152918de146

~1736 BTC in this transaction and others hanging from it.  Looks like it currently has 2 unconfirmed inputs, so the delay is likely further back the line.

Anyone know enough blockchain-fu to understand what's going on here?

(I'm one of the people affected by this - my wallet is showing this tx as 'conflicted')

Yes, another annoying stresstest done to proof that we need bigger blocks to protect against blockchain spam. They do this since yesterday. For reference

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

I've been watching this tx for a while, and I'm inclined to think now that the delay isn't a result of the spam (the fee here is 0.0009).
Actually, for a short while after this was broadcast, blocktrail was claiming this was an orphaned chain - and given that bitfinex appear to spend their outputs before they're confirmed, I wonder did they do an unintentional double spend?

There's a lot of money involved here anyway, so I'm confident there'll be a happy ending. (my withdrawal is only a very small part of this)

The Irony here is that Bitfinex has a public relations employee by the name of Zane Tackett and if he actually did his job he would have posted a message to Bitfinex users via the "Announcement Page" at Bitfinex letting everyone know about the network delays happening. Instead with the volatility of Bitcoin uninformed users who make a withdraw can now enjoy losing money while their transfer is stuck for 18 hours in delay mode.

Thanks Zane Tackett Job Well Done!   Keep up the hard work.

I withdrew everything from bitfinex some days ago. I think these small little signs are too much risk already. Dont know what things they do but better safe than sorry.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

I think everything is fixed by now. For me everything works like charm.

I think the biggest danger that Bitfinex faces is the reaction of the paranoid bitcoin community if there is a small bug or something. Its funny when in bitcoin something goes offline or there is a bug within hours people are yelling scam, fraud!

So if anything like that happens to Bitfinex, I think users will instantly move there money out and you know guys, even major banks can collapse if there is a panic. There is just not enough funds to liquidate in that short period if time.

Not everyone will withdraw and by far not everyone will notice. But the way you write sounds like you were not here when so many online wallets, exchanges and whatever went down. What do you think how things start? With slow little signs here and there.

Its simply a thing learned from the past. It may be nothing very well but if it is something you will be happy if you did not lose anything.

Improve your system for withdrawals, otherwise  people   switches to other exchange.
lately withdrawal from finex take more than one hour to be processed. I can't lose my gain (for your delays)  at every withdrawal.

Bitfinex down? Huh
just unable to cope with light server load...

But worse things happen!

I click on "buy" at 0.03147 and the order is put in.
I click again and a market order a ta way higher price gets executed.
It will be sayonara bitfinex very soon.

The small bugs are still in place and rob people of money. Also, the owners admitted running an information sharing with a private group of people...

changing and editing your orders by someone else has been a feature of bitfinex since the beginning.

it takes two minutes to cancel your orders, because "market sell" always fills in as sone sort of a limit order, then when you actually place a limit order it goes unfilled forever, then you cancel it and that is okay.

BUT THEN, suddenly a minute later you find your position filled by that said sell order which was "successfully cancelled"

go duck yourselves, amateurs.

May I remind you that I left some 3-6k USD in fees to your site?

To bitfinex defence... the one hour is actually relatively good. There was a stresstest going on the last days and the effects still can be seen on the blockchain. Ten of thousands transactions still unconfirmed. But i see you mean a waiting time until processed. Thats not so cool for sure, maybe they changed to put different transactions into one in order to pay higher fees and get the transaction through to the miners with the stresstest?

But honestly, i doubt they implemented something like that now.

so, again and again the number I have written in limit buy order gets replaced BY SOMETHING ELSE to my disadvantage!

What else: the "my position" shows very rude errors and nonsense most of the time. Wrongly calculated position value (by 6000% error), and liquidation price HIGHER than the base value of the position?!?!?!

Not to mention yesterday when I got NEGATIVE base value of a position...

How couldthe price reach 0.01994 when my order which was lower and placed some 2 minutes in advance was left completely untouched?

There is an interesting bug which gave me an initial margin of about 7:1, which was very interesting, it came with the delayed order filling, where order was accepted and filled but did not appear in the status for many minutes and when it did, I was short way more litecoins than I could afford even on the maintenance margin (or maybe just that amount?!)

that was interesting...
