Most likely because their hot wallet is empty...
Seriously, it states quite clearly that withdrawals can take up to 12 hours.

Ha ha. "Please note that while most withdrawals of Bitcoins/Litecoins will be processed within 2 minutes, the guaranteed processing time is within 12 hours." Bitfinex owes us an explanation. Withdrawal used to take minutes, and now it takes hours. In the immortal words of the prison warden in Cool Hand Luke, "What we've got here is a failure to communicate." What's going on? Bitfinex will never tell! Bitfinex doesn't give a feckless shart.

google auth 2fa yes I use that everyday, SMS 2fa I'm not sure. SMS 2factor is working, but just when you want to withdraw coins. The login is simple no need to 2factor auth.

Bitfinex.com is down, with not a single syllable of explanation other than to say the website is unavailable. What happened? How can a major exchange just go dark?

It seems i can access the domain just fine today. I did not find them being unavailable so i guess it was only temporarely or maybe depending on your internet connection at that time.

Any update on this? I was just about to start using this service. As it seems now, maybe it s better I stay away from them until this s been resolved.

Bitfinex withdrawals take much longer than they used to. It's consistent. Your withdrawal will take hours. This doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem. What I don't like is bitfinex's failure to communicate a reason for it.

Are the resulting transactions maybe bigger than before? Maybe they wanted to collect more withdraws in order to safe fees. Just a thought.

I have most of my coins there and need to trade right now and I get this stupid message
"Your account is currently on withdrawal hold. Your withdrawal(s) will be locked in a Pending Approval state until the hold is lifted."
I can not move any of my coins IM so furious this site went to crap.
withdraws take over 12 hours to get processed the past times for me.
I did NOT change my password nor changed anything !

That's frustrating. A year ago my withdrawals there were processed immediately, but last summer it took twelve hours for one withdrawal. I checked their terms and the small print says they are allowed to take 12 hours to process a withdrawal. Since that experience I started trading on other exchanges because the price crashed while I was waiting.

Since that experience I started trading on other exchanges because the price crashed while I was waiting. Does this maybe happen exactly when the bitcoin price is crashing? Maybe it's a protection for not being drained of bitcoins or so. Though why do you want to withdraw bitcoins when they are crashing? Or did you want to withdraw fiat? Or did the crash happen without you anticipating it in that withdraw timeframe?

The BTC-FFR is broken/manipulted (again). Plunged from 0.015 to 0.007 within minutes with just 1.5k BTC lend in the last hour and 6.5k available@FFR, this is impossible...

So with all this raging debate - punctuated by tasty price spikes of volatility everytime a dev makes a new viral blog post <3 - what's going to happen if there is indeed a fork..? Will BitFinex suddenly rush to list two BTCUSD instruments - one based on Core/SegWit, the other on BitcoinClassic/GA+JG..?? I presume at first, the BTCUSD we've always traded since ~2012 is just gonna continue to reflect Bitcoin Core's price, not other versions - even in the event that other versions actually get 75-90%+ voting+adoption majority..?
