i want to ask is true or not is issue bitfinex attack war hacker and lost gone bitcoin
Yes, there are multiple threads here and on reddit. Bitfinex appears to have lost just under 120k BTC due to some kind of hack. Trading has been halted, and the site has been taken offline. According to a bitfinex employee, the incident is under investigation. Where do you have this number (120k BTC) from? From this reddit thread. (the number is actually 119,756 BTC). Don't forget that hackers look at personal information -names, bank accounts and SINs as good as if not more valuable then the bitcoins that they stole. Those tiny characters on the screen are the gifts that keep on giving from a hackers point of view. Anyone know for sure if they got customer's information as well? The news has still not been completely released on the damage that was caused. I have a pretty good feeling that they won't disclose this information to the public if it has been comprised. That would put them into full damage control mode.

Anyone know for sure if they got customer's information as well? It wasn't a hack where the site is breached, no personal information was compromised. Bitfinex just messed up with multisigning their wallets, their cold wallet was not cold at all.

I don't see a convincing explanation of what happened without the hacker having had access to their innermost servers. Well, we'll find out soon enough if there's userdata out there or not. Oh, I got the first "Bitfinex - Application for refund" scam mail, from " info@ibitfinex.com". Watch out. Ente

How is that possible? Anyone to explain? Hello TheXpert, I will write you a PM for more details on whats next, but for everyone here is what happened. We are currently testing a new trading engine on DRKUSD and DRKBTC pairs only. Initially this engine used a feedback loop to confirm new balances after exchange execution. Problem was when you inserted the same type of orders for the same account in between this loop, like your bot was doing by sending the same marketable orders over and over, the exchange balance checking would be screwed and allow for a negative balance before catching up with your actual balance. This wasn't such a serious problem anyway as there was a circuit breaker in place that would limit any possible negative loss to a maximum of 1,000 usd. Anyways this has now been corrected (this was the purpose of testing on very small volume pairs like DRK). Your bot has been very useful in this regard. Have a good day Raphael Bitfinex team Just gonna leave this here...

Uhm, why quote an outdated post without any context? To show that there were bugs in the past too?

For trading, no. For depositing or withdrawing fiat, yes. For depositing or withdrawing crypto, no.

They exchanged 1.1% of BFX back. Just wow ! With such a low repayment rate, it will take them many years to get back to square one. I guess they are clutching at a straw to keep their clients from going away for good. But there is no way back... What are their trading volumes now?

If that was paid back based on trading volume, I wouldn't hesitate to buy BFX shares. They will pay it back relatively quickly at that rate and there would be a nice little profit for share holders.

We have been there before. Bter tried basically the same, they even had been paying interest on bitcoins held in accounts for some time (ironically, about the same 1% monthly). Did it help them and where are they now? At the moment we should follow the dynamics of trading volume if we want to get a clue about what's going on at Bitfinex

"only"? I find that quite outstanding! Nominally, we went from 36% haircut to 18%! Of course the market isn't very liquid, and it wouldn't work for everyone selling at once neither. I, for one, will ride this one out. Ente
