I am setting up a trading algorithm and am working out some of the details on making a trade at the moment. It seems that the way to partially close a position is to open a new trade in the opposite direction for some portion of the open position. This works fine but it seems that if my tradable balance is less than what I want to close the position by or 0 then my only option is to close the entire position completely as a market order. Can someone confirm that this is the only possibility in this situation besides adding more funds and then making an order?
Thanks for your help, James

Hi, How willl the scheduled down time of Bitstamp affect order execution of Bitfinex? Thx oh, that's why no orders are executed on bfx? Shouldn't we be able to trade bfx-only? The order book isn't even loading. I do recall Raphy saying he ordered more hardware, though I doubt that's being laid out right now The orderbook isn't loading. Hasn't been for days now. Is this a server performance issue. Is there something I can do. I'd really like to be able to see the order book.

You should enable "cancel withdrawing (wire)" when it is still processing. Many sites can do that. Thanks.
Yes this would be a nice feature, To be able to cancel a withdrawal on second thought. Has screwed me a couple of times making too haste of a decision. A Live Chat Support would be even better, or even a "Cancel Withdrawal" button. Hi
I put some funds into Bitfinex shortly before christmas and am not receiving interest on the money i have lent. I did receive two payments before christmas but nothing since
I emailed support but after the initial response have had nothing. Can someone please get in touch to explain why this might be
Thanks
Yes, Great Platform, but I'll have to admit that BitFinex does at times seems to be somewhat out of touch with the customers, but it's the holidays, and the same can be said for MtGox, BitStamp and etc., one thing for sure BitFinex .12% is lower which I really appreciate. Recently I watched a program on CNN regarding China, they pointed out that the reason Alibaba and China sites fair better than Amazon is because they offer live support on Alibaba as it's a standard and expected in China, I would give my right arm to see a BTC Exchange that offered Live Support, the larger Stock Exchanges like TradeKing and Scottrade does, unfortunately they don't trade BTC. Guess we should be happy for the responses we get in this thread, but there is room for improvement, in the 21st Century Live Support could be handed off between the three of them via laptops or tablets even when they are not in the office, would set them apart from the standard BTC Exchanges. Actually just the platform itself sets them apart from the standard Btc Outfit, but Live Support would give them that extra juice / edge to put them in that 3rd Place position they are targeting, But it's their Bar-B-Que, they can put whatever type of sauce on it they like, taste good so far, just speaking from a client's perspective. Additional services like Live Support will end up costing more money. At Bitfinex we are trying to offer the most competitive rates in the market and even though we will have to higher our fees a little during 2014 we will try our best to stay between 0.15% and 0.10% depending on the traded quantity. This will mean that we will keep being the most competitive offer on the market. Have a good day Giancarlo Bitfinex Team Is Cancel WithDrawal anywhere on the horizon ?, Made a withdrawal right before this rally started and Man did it ever bite me in the rear-end. A Cancel WithDrawal would be nice. Thanks I'll take a "No Response" as a No, Thanks

The support is beyond incompetent on this site. But they've got the hook up. So what can you do.

With regards to my issue, the problem was on my end. The support from Bitfinex took a couple of days but not an unreasonable amount of time in my opinion. Thanks

After some testing I have found that with a zero or negative 'Tradable Balance' it is still possible to place an order equal in volume or less than an open position in the opposite direction (buy to sell or VV) to execute a partial or complete closing of any currently open positions. To open a trade in the opposite direction would require two orders, one to close the position and free up your trading margin and another to open the new trade. This is not unlike most other trading platforms just in a little different form. I was able to figure this out with some testing on my own as well as some help from the BFX Support Department, on a Saturday...

I guess it's like running a "Un-Managed VPS" they expect you to have enough knowledge to stand on your own two feet and not do Stupid Sh_t, like make WithDrawals right before a freaking Rally starts, :-( , But still a "Cancel WithDrawal" Button would be handy, :-) , Especially while the Withdrawal is still in "Processing" stage, Like up to at least 2 to 3 hours to change your mind. A Salute To The BitFinex Team, Happy New Year ! May It Be a Prosperous One For All of Us !

Please just think twice before pressing the withdrawal button. Thanks and have a good day Giancarlo Bitfinex Team

Right now USD Liquidity offers are littered with 2 day offers, and one or two low volume 30day offers. If you want to borrow for 30days there is no way (that i know) to see what's out there. Maybe a filter that only returns offers above certain time period or a full depth API call? Also a thousands separator on the amount might be easier on the eyes i.e. (1,000,000.00 is easier to see than counting zeros on 1000000.00)

I can see the book now, but I remember seeing javascript errors (one every second, roughly) back when it wasn't working. Now that error is gone. I will try to catch it next time the orderbook loading is screwed up.

is there a minimum amount, which I have to use if I want to lend money?
10 USD when using Autolend, 100 USD when manually opening a Lending offer (or whatever they call that now). No idea about BTC and LTC amounts, likely in the same region (e.g. 0.1 and 0.01 BTC?)

For BTC and LTC the amounts are calculated into USD. So if you want to lend LTC manually it is: 100$/LTCPrice = Minlendamount

Loans offered in USD, gets refunded 2-4 hours later, and i get ZERO interest? So basically during a rally i can take loans, profit and refund same day ( just before paying out interest) with ZERO fee/interest owed to lender.
How is that for an exploit?
I guess if Borrowers decide to cancel their loans same day, there should be a penalty fee applied. Or better yet, pay 1st day interest along.
Wouldn't that be fair?
Bitfinex i'd really like a reply.
Thanks.

How Ripple Rips you: "The founders of Ripple Labs created 100 billion XRP at Ripple's inception. No more can be created according to the rules of the Ripple protocol. Of the 100 billion created, 20 billion XRP were retained by the creators, seeders, venture capital companies and other founders. The remaining 80 billion were given to Ripple Labs. Ripple Labs intends to distribute and sell 55 of that 80 billion XRP to users and strategic partners.
